Total Points Leagues (1 Viewer)

I am in a 15 team Total Point league that runs from week 1-17.

Some owners are looking to change the format to the following:

Top 6 Teams (total points) after week 13 advance to "playoffs" - scores are reset to zero.

Top 6 Teams then playoff during weeks 14-16 (throw out week 17). Total points in those 3 weeks wins.

Total Points Regular Season Champ will get money

Top 3 playoff teams get money

Is this setup fair?

To me this throws a lot of luck into the mix for weeks 13-16. A team can dominate for the first 13 weeks and then lose out during the last 3 weeks. To me it should be what you do during the entire season. That is why we play Total Points.

How does everyone run their total points leagues? Is it weeks 1-17, weeks 1-16, or do you have some sort of "playoff"?

We do total points and also have head to head with a playoff. We pay out 50% for overall title, 30% for Superbowl Championship and 20% for 2nd place overall. Our playoffs run from Week 14 through Week 16. We allow 8 teams (out of 10) to make the playoffs just to keep the owners who have had an otherwise tough year interested at the end of the season.

Our league is a total points league that runs weeks 1-17. However, there is also a playoffs (weeks 15-17) based on W-L record for a small payout. We also have weekly payouts for the top scoring team for all weeks.

We do not have a playoff, just 17 weeks of total points. We do add a $200 weekly winner for the 17 weeks as well. After the season we have a playoff pool with the draft between the end of the season and the first playoff game.

Our league is kinda weird. It's a total points league through 17 weeks, the top 4 places get all the cash. However to add a little more kick we split the 12 teams into 2 divisions and then play head to head matchups. The first 5 weeks you play everyone in your division, the next 6 weeks you play everyone in the other division, the next 5 weeks you play everyone in your division again, and the last week is nothing. After it's over the best win/loss record gets a kick-### engraveed crystal travelling trophy called "The Tillman Award". At next year's draft the division that loses the interdivision match-ups has to buy the dinner for the winning division.

My $50 local 12-team redraft. H2h Points combo league.

$150-- high score after 17 wks

$100 -- winner of 4-team championship playoff (weeks 15-16)

$50 -- best record after 17 weeks (tiebreaker is total points from week 12-17)

$50 -- best record after 11 weeks (after everyone has played each team once. Same record, tiebreaker total points)

$40 -- 2nd place 4-team championship playoff (weeks 15-16)

$20 -- winner of 4-team consolation playoff (weeks 15-16)

$10/week -- high score of week (all 17 weeks)

$20 towards league draft board for our draft

About a 55/45 payout split between Points & H2H. More opportunities for more people to get $$ and also an opportunity for a dominant team to win a significant chunk of the pot.

We do a 17 week total points with the playoffs being weeks 14-16. Its a 10 team league and 8 teams make it. Week 17 there are no matchups and its the only "total points" week. 75% of the pot goes to the total points winner and 25% goes to the playoff winner.
