Trade Deadline Nears. Post Info Here (1 Viewer)

I'm talking about the people who make fraudulent accounts (as in trying to make people believe they're someone they're not). It's essentially fraud.

I'm not expecting them to get criminally charged, but I'd love to see it. :)
I wouldn't. 30 seconds is enough to determine if news is from a real source or not. Or just stay off twitter.

Surprised TY didn't get traded, but I can imagine IND is looking for way too much for him. Too bad. I was hoping my fantasy season could be saved by him being traded. Instead I will just deal with him on my bench. JuJu has taken over his spot

@NFL_Memes

Patriots: "We're going to make a questionable trade."

Dolphins: "Hold my cocaine!"

Panthers: "Hold my beer!"

Every year these forums are buzzing with all kinds of speculation on big names being traded, and almost every year it's a guard traded for a TE who fell out of favor. Every year I make a comment on how people get so excited and then bummed when nothing happens: what do you expect to happen?

This year, wow... this is the kind of trade deadline action that will ruin the shark pool at the trade deadline the next 5 years. Crazy! Neat to see some big names traded. Almost all of them completely out of the blue. The ones we thought would be traded were not. Fun to check in during my work day. I stand corrected- a trade deadline like today can happen in the NFL!

It’s just like a joke, man.
Right.  But punchline of the joke is that those 3 teams made questionable trades.  I don't mean to direct my question at you in particular, and the writer obviously isn't around to answer it--just to anyone who feels they made a questionable trade.

The Calvin speculation surprised me today. Has he shown any interest in actually playing?
It appeared on the ESPN ticker yesterday, early morning... something to the effect that "Calvin Johnson would agree to return to NFL if his rights were traded to another team, preferably a contender"

That's not an exact quote, but it appeared in quotes on the ticker so I assume that the story came from CJ himself (or his rep).

This thread was a real blast today. Hat's off to the OP... great idea.

Hat's off to NFL GM's for actually participating this year! :D

@AdamSchefter

Bengals and Browns actually agreed to AJ McCarron trade at 3:55 pm, per source involved. Bengals approved trade to NFL, Browns did not.

Reminded me of urban legend trade with the Mariners and Red Sox.

Rumor has it that Seattle wanted scrub middle reliever Heathcliff Slocumb. Red Sox couldn’t believe anyone wanted him but asked for Derek Lowe OR Jason Varitek. Dummy Mariner GM sends trade paperwork saying they will give Lowe AND Varitek. Red Sox approve immediately.

Both players won World Series with Sox were multiple time All-Stars. Pretty sure Varitek became a team captain.

Slocumb sucked balls for the M’s for a couple months.

This.

Any player with at four or more years of service who is cut is not subject to the waiver process. Players with four or more years of NFL experience immediately become free agents and can sign with any NFL team of their choosing (that’s also interested in them).
While true, that also ends at the trade deadline.  So anyone cut from here on out does indeed have to clear waivers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns believed they completed their acquisition of A.J. McCarron from the Bengals before Tuesday's deadline, but that the league would not allow it to go through.

Schefter reports the Browns notified the NFL of the deal "moments too late," and that the league would not budge. ESPN Clevelad's Tony Grossi went as far as to report that the Browns were "celebrating" McCarron's acquisition and "forgot to call in the deal before the deadline." That seems a bit hard to believe, though we really want to. The Browns have lost control of their quarterback narrative, letting their rivals and media paint them as hapless in their pursuit of an answer under center.

Related: Browns

If true, that would be grounds for instant dismissal of the entire front office, imo.
I don't know, this seems made up. If not its probably a good move by accident. McCarron is nothing special, and Hue is likely gone by year's end anyway.

That's perfect.

That's also similar to what happened with the Vikes a few years back. Remember when they got ridiculed for skipping their draft pick? Apparently they had a trade in place with Baltimore and they called their side in but the Ravens didn't. They didn't realize they were still on the clock hence the confusion.

Hue hitched his wagon to Kizer saying if he's worth his salt (talking about himself), he'll make Kizer an NFL caliber starting QB (or something to that effect).

Hue totally ignored the fact Kizer wasn't ready.

I'd be livid if I was a Browns' fan. You invest a 2nd round pick in a QB, then proceed to ruin him. Hue couldn't have messed up his QB situation any worse if he tried.

A new version of events has surfaced blaming the Bengals for the A.J. McCarron trade that wasn’t.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer tweeted that the Browns sent a signed trade document to the Bengals to sign and send to the league, confirming the trade. The Bengals sent in the wrong document, one signed only by them.

The league needed both signatures to approve the trade, and the deadline passed before they got both.

An earlier report blamed the Browns for failing to get the trade into the league in time. The Bengals would have received 2018 second- and third-round picks in exchange for the backup quarterback.

Saved from themselves.

Texans-Seahawks trade has been amended.

The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans have amended their trade agreement after cornerback Jeremy Lane failed his physical, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Lane will revert back to the Seahawks, who had agreed Monday to send him to Houston along with a 2018 fifth-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick for left tackle Duane Brown.

In the new deal, Seattle will give up a higher draft pick to account for Lane's not being included in the deal. According to the source, Seattle will get Brown and Houston's 2018 fifth-round pick in exchange for the Seahawks' 2018 third-rounder and their 2019 second-round pick.

I prefer this deal for Houston over the original that included Lane. Like their chances of filling a need like guard with the 3rd rounder.

Hoyer was originally part of the deal. It was changed because of something to do with how compensatory picks work.
Yeah, a podcast covered that this week... maybe the NFL Nickel Package?

Reportedly, the Packers almost snagged him before the Pats, though.
