Trade help (1 Viewer)

I have Mauer and Yaddier Molina, my OF is Soo-Choo, Pence and Ordonez with Chris Young on the bench.

I have been offered Ibanez for Mauer.

I don't really need Ibanez but is this too good of a deal to pass up?

Tough call. Can Inabnez continue at 80% of his start, he definitelty helps you.But I do not think I would do it. You've waited this long on Mauer and Yadier looks very good. But I'd wait and see how Mauer looks after he's back for 2-3 weeks. Then trade accordingly. Yadier is the best Molina, but I doubt he ends up being nearly as good as Mauer. On the other hand, I am not a real big fan of Ordonez and Young, so I might pull the trigger.

I'd take the deal, but I'm sketchy about C's with back ailments. I don't think Mauer is any kind of lock to produce meaningfully better numbers than Molina over the course of the season.

I don't know your roster, but I'm thinking the best thing for you is to take the extra juice in the OF, wait for Magglio to heat up, then parlay your extra OF into help somewhere else you need it. I think this gives you better returns in the long run than holding onto Mauer and hoping he lives up to expectations.

Mauer is going to have what, 350 ABs tops? His main benefit is in the BA department. If this is a start 2 C league his value might be a little more, but generally I dont think he has much value at all. I'd take Ibanez and worry about trading an OFer later.

I agree with the stand pat bunch. I am a little concerned about Mauer going forward, but as others have said, I think this is a classic case of selling low and buying high. Yadier Molina is a catcher who will give you decent production in his best year. Mauer is a guy who can hit .340. Any other options on the WW OF wise?

Can you unpack this a bit?
Youre buying Ibanez high
and selling Mauer lowIbanez is a nice player, Mauer is a great one.
IRL, but not in fantasy. Ibanez should give you 550 ABs around .300, 90 runs, 100+ RBI and Im buying atleast 25 HR this year hitting in that bandbox. Mauer gets you what, 350 ABs tops with .325, 80 runs, 80 RBI and 8 HR? Neither one of them is giving you any speed of note. Yeah, Ibanez is off to a hot start, but even with what he'll put up the rest of the year he's more valueable than Mauer.ETA - in a 1 catcher league you can find and roster players on hot streaks that'll put up at least comparable numbers to Mauer.

one plays catcher, one plays OF

one plays catcher, one plays OF
And in a 10 team mixed league with 5 OF and 1 C you have 50 OF spots to fill and 90 starting opportunities some of which are platoons. You also have 10 C spots to fill with 30 starting opportunities some of which are platoons. In a two catcher league its a closer call, but there are generally more non-starter ABs and a much lower level of production to replace - fairly easily done by rotating in players on hot streaks.ETA - this is only a start 3 OF league which is incredibly shallow, but even still you have the same percentages, but only one spot versus three to fill.

Did you ever do this trade? Mauer is insane
No. About 3 weeks ago I did trade Mauer to the same guy for Holliday.Fairly even, but since the trade Holliday has been a tad better.
Mauer is ranked #1 in fantasy over the past three weeks. For OBP and Avg. Holliday's been great too, but not as good as Mauer. It could be worse, a guy in our league traded him three weeks ago for Yunel Escobar and Yadier Molina. I'm not making this up.

I play in a points league and Mauer has twice as many points as the #2 catcher for the last month. NOT FAIR!
