Shouldn't we be re-educating farmers? There are lots of IT positions available around the country. All of these farmers are going to reject their share of the 12 billion "for the good of the country", right?

We could teach them to mine coal. I hear coal is the next big thing.Shouldn't we be re-educating farmers? There are lots of IT positions available around the country.
Lot's of farmers are very high-tech these days.Shouldn't we be re-educating farmers? There are lots of IT positions available around the country.
Lot's of factory workers were running high tech equipment. When the product can be made cheaper overseas, it's time to find a new line of work.Lot's of farmers are very high-tech these days.
If the people who voted for Trump got laid off, they would still support himTrump won Michigan, right? Whirlpool is headquartered there, right?
Would be a shame if they had to start laying people off...
Post of the month. You think you're having a hard time keeping up- I can't even make sense of this post!
He's doing what he's always done, all his life. He's a salesman with no eye for detail or long term planning. He pitches vague, easy answers to gullible marks, makes things look good for a while by leveraging the future and/or making even grander promises along with excuses for the delay in delivering what was promised, and then he bails and leaves them holding the bag. He did it with his real estate investments. He did it with his casinos. He did it with contractors. He did it with Trump University. It's his MO. And now he's doing it with the American taxpayer by ramping up spending and passing tax cuts during an economic boom (an unprecedented move as far as I know) to make himself look good in the short term, without regard to available revenue and political capital when the next economic downturn inevitably arrives.
And what he's doing with tariffs is similar- he's taking the short term political gains from the tariffs in steel country and other places where it helps for now, and softening losses by allocating billions of taxpayer money to aid packages so he doesn't take as hard of a political hit in the places it hurts . And when it all comes due he'll either be long gone already or he'll depart, call his presidency a success and leave the rest of us to pay the price while his family continues to profit for decades off their expanded fan base and questionable morality.
It boggles my mind that people don't see this. I can understand falling for a scam if nobody points it out to you ahead of time, but people on both sides of the aisle have been been pointing and yelling and screaming about this scam for years now.
Don’t worry we can always just keep borrowing more money from ChinaSooooo....
We’re going to take a double hit with this?
Once with the rising costs of goods and then once with our taxes going to farmer welfare?
Don’t worry, the economy in Michigan is great. We can take the hit.Trump won Michigan, right? Whirlpool is headquartered there, right?
Would be a shame if they had to start laying people off...
And funny enough, not one response or counter argument.Post of the month.
Accountability and earnestness matter in discussions. Making continuously inflammatory statements and running away afterwards does not foster discussion. That is particularly the case when you are trying to have an honest exchange of ideas instead of just troll for reactions. The likes on your post are very telling.I agree with David on this. What is the purpose, other than rude trolling, to bring up his posts on other issues? It has no bearing on whether or not he is right or wrong on this issue.
I strongly disagree with him on this issue, but it’s up to me to explain why.
Certainly sounds like a fair risk reward proposition.Dodds put it out there clearly. Trump is an #######. He might get us a better trade deal or he might destroy the entire world economy.
Well that should head of France making American cheese.I heard a blurb on NPR a week or two ago that there is an initiative around "labeling" of cheese similar to the rules around wines. So, provolone cheese would only be allowed to be labeled as such if it came from Italy etc. Like it can only be called Champagne if the grapes are from that area of France. So on top of all this, American companies would be hit with rebranding costs, repackaging costs etc.
I go to the University ....... of the United StatesIs your first name Jiffy? Are you the ruler of Zamunda?
If you arent getting the reference, as it’s quite vague, here’s a hint-
“we’re back Mortimer”
This is where people go off the rails IMO. I don’t agree with Dodds political views at all but that has absolutely nothing to do with the site he owns or the product he provides. I gladly paid again this year (as I have for the past 10+ years) and will continue to as long as I find value in the product.@Joe Bryant
hey Dave,
thanks for the reminder why I no longer subscribe here. I’m always tempted this time of year.
“He’d beat Joe Louis’s ###!”Is your first name Jiffy? Are you the ruler of Zamunda?

Woohoo! Come on hard six! Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!Dodds put it out there clearly. Trump is an #######. He might get us a better trade deal or he might destroy the entire world economy.
When you peddle conspiracy theories and troll to get a rise out of other people, why should people think it is limited to one part of your business? Why should people think your projections are genuine or your analysis is worthwhile? This is where people go off the rails IMO. I just don’t see how any of that relates to his ability to project Gurley’s point total for next year. And besides Dodds projections are just one small part of the product your buying. When you peddle conspiracy theories and troll to get a rise out of other people, why should people think it is limited to one part of your business? Maybe it only seems that way to you because you rarely respond to posters who attempt to politely engage you with honest discussion. I speak specifically of guys like @SaintsInDome2006 and @Henry Ford, who routinely offer cerebral and civilized responses or questions to your posts, only to experience deflection (or no response at all) in return. This is why no one participates in discussions here.

Not just any coal. Beautiful, clean coal.We could teach them to mine coal. I hear coal is the next big thing.
Someone calculated that this will cost every household a out $95, and sad thing is it's doesn't fully compensate the farmer for the damage done. What about the long term damage done? What about the nonfarm businesses hurt by the tariffs? Some folks aren't going to be happy!Where is the $12 billion coming from? Looks like this is just a payoff to keep them happy for the midterms.
Judgement is judgement. A business owner trolling people over political conspiracies is not good judgement.I just don’t see how any of that relates to his ability to project Gurley’s point total for next year. And besides Dodds projections are just one small part of the product your buying.
I’ve made plenty of bad decisions in my life, none of those have anything to do with my abilities at work. One does not have to correlate to the other for both to be true.
I once made a Zamunda national team soccer jersey. It had the flag of Zumunda on it in a couple spots, and McDowell’s and Soul Glo sponsor patches. Most people didn’t get it. But wow, was it fun seeing the look on someone’s face when they realized what it was.Is your first name Jiffy? Are you the ruler of Zamunda?

Sure you will. I grew up in the rural Midwest. There's nothing farmers love to ##### about more than people who take welfare from the government. They'll demand that the program immediately cease, if they even take it in the first place. You'll never get rid of those subsidies

Little out of Column A, little out of Column B.We're deep in some sarcasm here, right?
This is rich. This is why no one participates in discussions here.
The far-reaching, unfounded ridiculous conspiracy theories have nothing to do with it, I'm sure. This is why no one participates in discussions here.
You’re in here all the time, dropping your lame takes like a pigeon after binging on Pabst and truck tacos.
He seems to think he's somehow above the fray when in reality he's a part of the problem. The lack of self-awareness is awful. You’re in here all the time, dropping your lame takes like a pigeon after binging on Pabst and truck tacos.
