Trading already (1 Viewer)

Ok, I was talked into playing a league by my buddy. His army friend is the commish. 12 team league, standard scoring. Go to the draft and the guys are a bunch of d-bags. Go through with it as I already committed. ONE DAY AFTER the draft I am getting trade proposals from the commish, multiple trade proposals. This was the funniest...

"How would you feel about trading me your cedric benson and malcolm floyd for Michael Crabtree and Laurence maroney"

Did not even respond.

Then this trade goes through-

Commish trades Brandon Marshall and LT2 for Andre Johnson. (Guy who had Andre has shonn greene as his #1)

I veto- is it justifiable?

My argument is maybe it is not collusion, but it makes the other team weaker at WR, but he gets his handcuff who he may never start over shonne greene unless he starts both or an injury occurs.

Still seems fishy because the commish drafted for this guy and now is trading before a single ball is snapped in regular season.

WAT?

In no way shape or form should that trade EVER be vetoed. Frankly you're a #### for even voting against it.

Vetos aren't to protect stupid owners.. theyre to stop collusion. THis isn't collusion. The goal of a trade is to ideally make both teams better. Maybe he is high on Marshall and feels the step down from AJ to BM is worth having the Jets running game covered? It's fine.

Did somebody call a WAAAAAHHMBULANCE?

I even said that it looked like I was jealous or whining about it in my explanation to the league.

Just wanted to make sure I was the only crazy one that thought this was a little lopsided.

You have to admit though, Cedric and Floyd for Crabtree and Maroney is definitely a bad trade proposal.

Vetoing deals is such a cowardly thing to do. Phil doesn't see any problems here other than you whining like a tubby girl with a skinned knee.b

It's only you. Crap like this is a good way to not get invited back. You're the new guy. You expect people to feel you out with sketchy trade offers. What's not expected is for the new guy to start vetoing perfectly fair trades. Know your place and learn the rules.

The season hasn't even started yet . . . . . . I wouldn't consider trading / offering a trade until a few weeks played out !!!!

I'll add that I would love to be in this league, so many leagues are gun shy, I would love a league that active with trade offers this early.

 major over-reaction here. trading before the season starts is perfectly normal and acceptable.if you dont get someone you were targetting, trading is the only way to get them at this point... better before the season starts than during - values can sky rocket after a couple of good games to start the season, they can also plummet. if there was someone i needed on my team, i'd consider sending a trade now... but thats just me.

You get a trade offer (which is not ridiculous, btw -- maybe you are high on Crabs, some guys def are) and dont even bother to respond? And then when another -- fairly reasonable -- trade goes through, which is obviously not collusion, you veto? AND you're the new guy in the league? What is wrong with you?

 None of my leagues are active traders. Sucks.

1) Don't play in leagues with D-Bags

2) Don't complain when you choose to play with D-Bags

3) League's where trades are allowed suck.

I dont think any trades should be made until after the season is over and the stats of everyone involved is fully revealed.

1st- Wow you got a bad trade offer. Thats never happened in any league ever before.2nd- the guy paid to have his handcuff. Perfectly legit and fair trade and the fact that you even thought twice about it makes me question your sanity.

Anytime there is a new guy in one of my leagues, I offer him bad trades. If the guy doesn't know what he is doing and wants to help me out, all the better. However, I don't think any of the trades mentioned are that bad. I wouldn't trade Benson or AJ for what was being offered, but they aren't terrible. One year, we had a new guy in our league and he traded Marvin Harrison for Antwan Randle El after 1 week. It was really dumb, but I am not going to be a baby and veto it just because it makes somebody else better.

 :( Awesome

I disagree. Sometimes the draft doesn't play out how we want it to. His handcuff got sniped or he slept too long, now he has to pay if he really wants his cuff.

But what if the trade isn't even? Shady's idea seems like it could ensure that all trades were fair. You might want to rethink this one.

 This is the exact reason I changed the trade vetoing system in my main $$ league from league vote to commish only this year. Too many owners vote against trades because...oh my gosh...the trade actually helps both teams!! Isn't that the whole point of trading? OP should stop whining and invest some time thinking of trades that make his team better.

Trading before the season is great. Sometimes you get lucky and get breakout stars as "toss-ins."
What I want to know is what this mysterious "season" is that you guys are referring to? In all my leagues, I think the "season" lasts from the NFL combine until the next year's NFL combine...with most owners taking a couple week "vacation" between the Super Bowl and combine. Can you help a confused dynasty owner out, please? TIA.

I guess I'm the only one that would be unhappy with a guy drafting two teams and then trading players across that team before the season started. The actual trade is not THAT suspicious and I certainly wouldn't motion to veto it... but it certainly raises some red-flags.

(I'm officially paranoid though)
