Trading for an injured player? (1 Viewer)

This is the first year that I've really taken fantasy football seriously. In the past, I've mainly went with my gut and hoped things worked out. So far, being more knowledgeable hasn't really helped me that much...but I'm trying to make things work.

With that said, what is the general opinion on trading for a good player who is currently injured. In my specific situation, I have a trade offer on the table for Darren Mcfadden, giving up Hines Ward and Johnny Knox. Prior to yesterday, I think it was a decent offer and would help my team...but now I'm worried. At the same time, this seems to be the only good RB that anyone in my league is willing to trade.

I'm not really asking for advice on this trade in particular, just asking for an opinion on how you handle trades for players who are injured. Obviously I'm waiting until more info comes out on the injury, but assuming it's something that is a week or two issue, how would you handle something like that?

Totally depends on the player and the injury. I can't really get more specifice than that without knowing more about your individual situation. You indicated this question is not aobut your specifice trade offer for McFadden. If it is, just move the thread to the AC forum and I would be happy to comment.

Trading for an injured player is fine, but it obviously depends on the extent of the injury. As far as McFadden, wait until the MRI report comes out today. If he is only missing 1 week, then trade for him when he is due to return, unless the trade is a knockout. This specific trade is not a knockout. Ward is getting Big Ben back for the rest of the season. I would hold onto Ward if I were you.

If you have the depth to wait out the recovery, it's not a bad strategy provided you get a discount on the price due to the injury. In this specific case - Ward and Knox isn't a bad price as long as you have the depth at WR.
