Trading the 1st pick (A-Rod) (1 Viewer)

Right now I hold the #1 pick but I feel like I can get a ton of value by trading it. I am in talks right now with another team and so far we both seem to agree that he needs to give up his 2nd and 3rd. It is a 10 team league so there will be tons of value. At first I wanted to swap picks in the 4th and give him my 12th rounder but I felt like that was giving up a bit too much. He thought that he was giving up too much.

What can you, or would you expect for the number 1 pick, with the team you are trading it to keeps their number 1 as well.

Maybe I am off base and should not even be thinking about trading it.

It is a H2H points league if that makes a difference.

What do you do?

In a 10 team mixed league, there should be some value for ARod, but not a ton.

However, in a 13 team mixed league, owners should be lining up at the door looking to trade up to get ARod. Just my opinion here.

I'm guessing you are looking for general answers....but for your specific dealings....what pick does the other person have? If I had to guess, I'd say between 7 and 10.

I'm sorta in the fold of if you are trading your 1st round pick, especially in the top half and in this case 1.1, you probably would want to be getting back a 1st rounder. Then you just get one extra pick, let's say the 3rd round for example, from the other owner.

He has the 5 pick. Sorry I didnt mention that. We were actually looking to trade out of the 1st all together and stock pile middle round picks. So we would get his 2,3 and 5. I suggested this deal but he didnt want it and I can understand that.We would give our 1,4,6 and 10 for his 2,3,4,5,8He would come out with 9 players thru 10 rounds and we would have 11 thru 9 (11 thru 10 after 10th round trade). I thought it worked for both teams because they get 1 and 5 but he didnt like it. Not sure if we will work something out.

I had a pending acceptance in a 12 team keeper league to deal 1.01 for the back elbow picks, but that was contingent on two of Howard, Prince, Johan, and Braun being available. Howard went 6th, Prince went 10th, and Braun went 11th - no deal.

I made a big deal earlier this off-season to aquire much more talent. I then traded Berkman and Wright for Arod because I wanted him. I still have Fielder at 1B and Braun at Utility

I really feel a guy with the second pick in a 13 team mixed league really holds all the cards...

Looking for opinions here...

I'm in a 12 team, mixed, redraft, H2H league and am drafting out of the 11th spot. The guy drafting in the first spot (and arguably the most knowledgeable owner in the league) has offered to trade spots, straight up. A few of the guys in this league are looking to move to the bottom of the draft order this year. The thinking is that this year there is nobody (even ARod) who is so much more valuable than everyone else, and you're better off with two of the 11, 12, 13, 14, etc. picks than you are with the 1 and 24.

Would you take this offer, or do you agree that you're better off with a later spot in the draft order? I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do, but would like to hear what people think.

does he want to trade spots for the entire draft or just the first two rounds? I usually prefer trading in the middle of the draft, however, I'd rather have 1-24 than 11-14. ARod is a pretty safe bet to put up large numbers across the board, and 12-15 sb's are just icing on the cake, imo. The only other guy I'd say is normally on the same level as ARod would be Pujols, but I'm fairly concerned about his elbow this year. Frankly, the drop off from 14 to 24 is not near as noticeable to me as it would be from 1 to 11 (ARod to Braun let's say to Fielder to Carlos Lee)
