Travis Hunter in IDP leagues (2 Viewers)

This is more of a heads up, but if you have any ideas on this pls chime in. Obvious pick #1 in an IDP league that would allow you to play him in that slot and get the WR points on top .... but I use Sleeper and I reached out to them asking about how they plan to score Hunter in IDP leagues. They said they don't have a plan.

The work around they said is to use the commissioner access to remove his points as a DB (pain in the a$$) so I suggested they look into a fix for a 2 way player. I'll let you know if that happens.

For now I would simply designate him as a WR only ... and let him have the bonus points for playing DB.
Since DB's typically don't score too many fantasy points, a couple of tackles and a pass defended would be just a slight bump in his weekly WR points.
A DB getting WR points would be way too much of an advantage.
Obviously this would need to be stipulated before someone drafts him in a league.

I've stipulated that he's WR points only....but for now, Sleeper has him eligible for either or....they seemed to indicate the points will roll up when he's placed in either spot for both DB/WR

We have always had all players get credited with all stats accrued. So Randy Moss getting an interception on a hail mary got credited with those points. Shouldn't be any different now.

Position designation we leave it up to the site designation (on MFL)

The way Fantrax is set up in my two IDP leagues, he can either get WR points or DB points, but not both.
This is my home league. We have Hunter WR, Hunter DB

We go by MFL designation which today is WR and give owner to start at DB also if he wants. Just puts comment in lineup submission. Thus Hunters advantage is 1 player being able to take 2 lineup spots allowing one to use other spot elsewhere if needed.

Hunter with this is back end 1st
Hunter in leagues getting all points and playing CB is 1.1. Just a huge advantage
Hunter getting all points could be 1.2-1.5 depending on scoring format

I have a Sleeper rookie draft coming up in a few days. RB is my weakness and WR is my strength. With the fourth pick I could still draft Hunter and use him at CB but I am hoping someone takes him before me.

I don't understand why people are so dead set against Hunter being able to play DB and get all points? It happened already with guys like Devin Hester. There was never any special rules for him, despite that fact that his 2-3 receptions/carries a game made him immensely valuable as a DB.

I keep hearing how he's "overpowered" or gives someone an unfair advantage if he's allowed to be played at DB. OK. So trade Justin Jefferson or Jamarr Chase for him. Wait, that's not fair? Why not? If he's that important, offer the 1.1 a massive trade. No, you just want to manipulate the league to be more in your favor and give you an advantage. I don't even have the 1.1 in my big league, but I've been fighting guys all offseason about this topic. If it's that big of an advantage, then make a trade. It's not. You know it's not, you just want to ***** because someone other than you is getting a monster player.

Guess what else was an advantage? Getting Adrian Peterson in 2007. Getting Derrick Henry in 2016. They likely brought you multiple league titles or at least a ton of shots at titles. Was that "unfair" or just luck/good planning?

Not to derail the debate, but the Hunter issue aside... while Peterson was a league winner in 2007 and beyond, Henry was not even close in 2016. Nor the next several seasons as Henry began his career on the lesser end of a RB timeshare. Clearly you didn't have Henry in 2016... trust me, I drafted him in our rookie draft that season and had him his first 3 NFL seasons. He wasn't good enough to start except as a bye week or injury replacement... much less a league winner. It wasn't until his 4th season the Titans finally employed him as their workhorse back. And yes, I am still bitter as I didn't extend him which I had to do going into year 3. Again... not meaning to be nit picky here, but in the interest of accuracy.

As of now MFL is only designating Hunter as a WR. And my understanding is they have never given a player multiple position eligibility. He may get IDP stats depending on league rules (ours does not give IDP stats to offensive players)... but owners won't have the huge advantage of playing him at DB and getting WR stats on MFL. At least as it stands this season (barring a last minute change).

Speaking of Travis Hunter... he mysteriously went missing from the FBG's rookie rankings tonight. He was in the rookie rankings before (#2 overall / #1 WR, if I remember correctly). But for some reason he is missing completely from the rookie rankings now.

Odd... initially made me wonder if it was due to FBG's making a change to his position? But he isn't showing up at DB either. So who knows?

? I see him just fine. He's sitting at #3 overall in a ppr non-superflex... WR2 behind Tet.

Which is a huge mistake on FBG's part, but whatever.

Just checked again, after toggling off our custom league rankings (standard 0.5 ppr), Hunter shows up in the generic PPR ratings at #4 overall.

But he still is missing from our custom league rankings after showing up fine previously. So strange...

👍 we got points for Ronnie brown or other RBs when they played the “wildcat”, Taysom hill no matter where he lined up, etc. no different here imo except we probably didn’t want to start brown at QB.

Yup. Whatever your league rules are, that’s how this situation should work. It isn’t a new concept.
