Trivia Question about College to NFL players (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I'm looking for some experts to help me solve a trivia question I was posed with. Thus far I haven't been able to come up with a definitive answer. I think it's a pretty cool question that may stump more than a few of you. Sadly, I don't have the answer!

Name for me the U.S. college team (and year) that graduated the most college players to the NFL who then as a group, stayed in the highest total number of years in the NFL.

Meaning, I'm not just looking for a team that say put through 11 players, but then only 5 stayed for more than a season. But I am looking for that College Program that graduated the most players, who also then stayed on for the highest total of years.

Winner receives 10,000 internets. (Just for my curiosity only)

Thanks

I wouldn't guess a 2000's Miami. While successful, a slightly smaller draft class from the 90's or 80's could have longer careers than the 6-7 max right now the 2002-3 classes would.

No guess on which one though.

Have no real knowledge on this other than a gut feeling...

Univ of Miami 2003

Just a hunch....
That would have to be too recent. The longest any player from that team could have been in the NFL so far is 6 years. Even if they sent 10 players to the NFL and all of them stayed the full six years, that's only 60 player-years. Meanwhile, Jeff Feagles' college team has gotten 22 player-years from Feagles alone.

That was a pretty good class for Miami.Feagles- 22 years

Michael Irvin- 12 years

Brian Blades- 11 years

Bennie Blades- 10 years

Brett Perriman- 10 years

Danny Stubbs- 10 years

3 others- 12 years

Wow, I was just picking the first 20+ year vet that came to mind, but it's looking more and more like Feagles' college class might indeed be the answer. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I'm not sure if you mean "graduated" in the literal sense; assuming you don't, the answer is ... a tie.

Below are the college-years that had 60 or more years of pro experience. Not: Except for Feagles' Miami Hurricanes of 1988, I'm NOT including 2009 seasons played. Also, the year listed is the player's first year of active duty in the NFL.

So... Feagles' Hurricanes were, in fact, the answer- or at least tied for it. Like I said, better to be lucky than good. Most bizarre thing about that list: one team from this decade made it, and it wasn't Miami, it was... Notre Dame? Huh? That has to be the worst player-class to accumulate 60 cumulative years ever. Wow.
