Outside of never having been in <insert poster's room in his house>, what do these 7 players have in common?

Ben Roethlisberger, Logan Mankins, Byron Leftwich, Charles Tillman, QB Alex Smith, DeMarcus Ware and Jeff Faine?

QB or TE?If it's the TE, these are all players the Lions should have drafted but passed on.

If it's the QB, none played college in a BCS conference?
This is correct, but my mistake. I should have worded the question better. What do these 7 players -- and no one else -- have in common.
:nerd: No one else - like, ever ever, or currently in the NFL?
All these players were drafted in the last five years. Hint: That's not a coincidence; the trivia question covers only the last five years (although I didn't say that in the OP).

So are you sure now? This question is starting to sound like a joke from my 5-year old daughter.....

Well I was sure the whole time, but I didn't want to give that bit of knowledge away. That's why I wrote "Hint" up there. But in order as to not lead an honest question astray, I thought the hint was warranted.

I know this to be true (I think) about Big Ben and Alex Smith. So without looking up the rest and "cheating"....I'll say they all wore the same jersey number in college as they did with their first team in the pros?

No lots of other players do that as well. The correct answer is- none were drafted by the Eagles

Ahh, thought I was on to something when I saw that Leftwich did as well. Stopped with Tillman though (#5 - #33 )

"<insert poster's room in his house>"Is that in reference to the old Cheers episode where Cliff Claven answers , "Who are people who have never been in my kitchen" ?

They were all drafted before the turned 21.
That's not the answer, but could be correct. Amobi Okoye was 19 when drafted.
They were all 20?Chase - are you certain these are the only players the trivia applies to?

If I had to take a guess, I would say these players all sat at tables with their former coaches at the draft.

I have no idea if that is common or not. I just seem to remember a story that came out shortly after he died, talking about Big Ben's coach being with him at the draft

I'm sure that's not it; just thought I'd take a shot.

Yes, but once again, this is limited to the last five years. Trivia answer: players in the OP.Trivia question: "blah blah blah... in the last five years."

Top-35 picks from non-BCS schools.

Pretty sure this guy would also be in the question if that were the answer.28 Joe Staley OT Central Michigan San Francisco 49ersStaley also makes my answer of "players, with less than 6 syllables in their names, drafted in the last 5 years in the top 35 picks, who played in most of their team's games as a rookie" wrong.

They are all non-vegans who can throw as well as Alex Smith*

*Alex Smith was only included in the question to try and trick us

Who are 7 players that Chase pointed to on a list of players and decided to ask another one of his ridicuously obscure trivia questions about and then drag out giving the answer?

This answers pretty close, so I've decided to give it to him. Those seven players are the highest drafted players in the past five years from the seven non-BCS leagues: the WAC, MAC, CUSA, Sun Belt, Mountain West, Independent and non-D1 leagues. And yes, I know Notre Dame is a BCS team, but there are six BCS power conferences, and the Independents (even though that's not a conference) aren't one of them.

Stupid question from a clueless member, what is a BCS School? I have a Bachelor of Science (BSc), is this like a Bachelor of Sports?

FUBAR mentioned Joe Staley. Would he not fit into the criteria?
Staley went to Central Michigan, which is in the MAC. Roethlisberger is the highest drafted player from the MAC in the past five years.
Sorry, I was confused. Wasn't Marshall in the MAC when Leftwich was there?
It may have been. I was using the current designations.
IIRC, Leftwich, Pennington, and Moss were in the MAC.
