True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (1 Viewer)

I judge HBO programs on rewatchability. I'm going to finish the season. But there's nothing about this season that makes me want to watch again. I don't give a #### if I missed/didn't pick up on something the first time around.

The best thing about watching this show has become that it reminds me that it's Sunday night and so tomorrow night I get to watch the Bachelorette. That's what this show has become.
Suicide is a viable option here IMO.

It's no use comparing seasons when the characters/storyline are completely different. Have to judge them on their own merit.

I think this season is fine. There have been some clunky dialogue at times (the Vince Vaughn paper mache monologue was pretty bad and they were trying too hard)

I still like the feel of the show, the setting is great, they've got good characters that are still developing.

I'll let you know when it's over how I really feel about it but its extremely watchable.
Yeah it'll be much more interesting when they finally meet up with the season 1 guys.

Just finished one of many rewatches start to finish of The Sopranos today. Also have rewatched Deadwood a few times and the first season of True Detective once.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'll watch, but I won't watch again.

How long do you think the helicopter rental lasted to get all these freeway shots? Was this like a single 24 hour rental, or did they just keep a chopper on set throughout filming?

This might be the worst series in TV history
Get out.
I'm only talking about season 2
Hi GreenNGold-

I realize that you might disagree with Frosty's decision. Look, Frostilicus literally hates my guts. I'm right there in his Enemies List next to Jon Rauch and University of Wisconsin and some other heroes of America.

But I have to respect chain of command. I cannot look over his shoulder and second guess his every decision. What kind of OP would that make me? I'm sorry, but his decision stands.

Tough but fair, as always.

I like the fact Woodrugh was more upset he took it up the ### than seeing a bunch of civilians and cops get slaughtered.

Bad editing right before the shootout scene. You see McAdams pull her gun out and hold it by her side as she's walking. Then they show her walking without the gun. And then it's magically back in her hand.

Horrible.

interesting. Remember when Rust Cohle made the birds form a pattern in the sky in season 1? There's definitely some mystical #### going on. Now i see the connection to season 1 everyone is talking about.

Still watching. But I really hate forced drama. Long camera shots of people staring at each other or lighting making something more dramatic than it needs to be. But that's with everything, not just this show. The bar scenes with VV and Velcoro could be much better than they are. Shoot-out was entertaining.

That shootout was a freaking masterpiece. Possible series saver.
Cool your jets, guy.
I know. Totally uncool to express optimism that a series focusing on developing unlikable characters may have turned the corner from that.I'll go hang out with the other uncool kids from drama club now.
It was a cool shootout scene, no question. But if the rest of the second half remains as crappy as the first half, nobody is going to walk away thinking "man, that one shootout scene really made this a good series."
