True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (2 Viewers)

how about this for season 3?

Michael Madsen stars as JJ 'Jake' Gittes, a private detective who seems to specialize in matrimonial cases. He is hired by Evelyn Mulwray (Gina Gershon) when she suspects her husband Hollis (Ed Asner...if he's not dead), builder of the city's water supply system, of having an affair. Gittes does what he does best and photographs him with a young girl but in the ensuing scandal, it seems he was hired by an impersonator and not the real Mrs. Mulwray. When Mr. Mulwray is found dead, Jake is plunged into a complex web of deceit involving murder, incest and municipal corruption all related to the city's water supply.

Serious question here...if MM was playing VV's role this year (assume you can erase last year's season from your mind), how much better to you think it would be? Clearly it's a mis-cast, and IMO that's what's making this season so weak. The story is getting better.

I can't decide if this season would be better with different casting or if last season secretly sucked and MM and WH just made it work. And I loved season 1.

There might be a little of this. After looking at some quotes, there are some real doozies from last season.

But, the setting, the story, and those two actors just made it feel right.

Real or Fake Quotes? good game to play.

that's how i feel. They basically gave VV all of MMs lines from last year.

The subject matter last year was also much better. People eat that serial killer/cult #### up.that's why the finale was so disappointing last year because the serial killer was so lame and none of the theories as dumb as they were came to fruition. The writer got lucky imo

I think the decision to use different periods in time made a huge difference also. From the first episode you wanted to know what made Cole change from the cop he was in 1995 to the apparent burnout he was in 2012.

Did anyone think it was an actual supernatural Yellow King?

Consensus seems to be season 1's finale was a dud. I thought it was great. Played out like a horror movie that developed naturally out of all the creepy backwater settings. What would have it made it better?

The whole action sequence with Reemus was kinda ridiculous.

That song's even worse than the dialogue. Damn show gets worse and worse every episode. Good thing it started out pretty good and there's only one more left, as we're quickly approaching The Brink levels of unwatchability.

I have to see how they end it, even though we all know it's going to be super dumb.

The Brink is pretty solid imo.

Tim Robbins is great in it.

i dont think i mentioned the word supernatural once in my post.

Can we talk some more about the blueballs in the heart line?

How does nobody talk the director out of that after the first take?

It occurred to me that the same cast but different characters (American horror story) would have been excellent.

I disagree with everything in this post.

I don't think the show is unwatchable. I'm engaged while I watch it. The absurdity of some of the lines and all the scenes with Frank and his wife are dragging the whole thing under.

Ferrell's performance has been consistently good. Velcoro isn't an amazing character but good enough for me to keep going.

Now I am me and you are you?

This opening credit sequence and music is one of the best things ever made.

Seriously.
Graphics are great. The song makes me want to punch a baby duck in the face.
Love the song
Consider the source here....
Hey now.
I think you have things backwards...
Ahhhhh. Does Officer Pete have famously bad taste in music?

I think he just hates 99.9% of.... well, everything.

At the risk of crushing your dreams, there are actually three episodes remaining.

Jane's Addiction is OPM's favorite band.

I can't think of any actor that could legitimately deliver the blue balls in your heart line. It's sounds like a parody sketch of a detective show at that point. Now I keep hearing Andy Samberg's voice instead of VV every time a stupid line is spoken.
