True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (1 Viewer)

Ringer podcast didnt touch on waynes son being a detective nor Roland walking with a limp
I thought they talked about his son as a cop last week. I believe you are right about The miss on Rolands limp.

Sometimes they do a couple podcasts for a week, so perhaps they will tie up some more loose ends.

I never said they caught everything, just that they mentioned something I missed.

I actually thought they touched on the on the fact that Roland was apparently injured last week?

Sorry man didnt mean to imply that it wasnt good just sortof pointing out there is a lot in play thats out there with this show.  No scene is wasted.

No worries.

I wonder how far in advance some of these recap shows get to watch. The production value on the ringer show and how it’s released means they definitely watched well in advance. I don’t think you can do a 30 minute YouTube show with pictures and graphics and release it the same night.

In that same line of thinking, I’m sometimes wonder if they hold back or go overboard on something if they’ve watched further than the viewership. Maybe bound contractually not to go too deep on some stuff to spoil for everyone else.

Critics got the first 5 episodes

So I wonder after next week if it’ll take longer before they release their episodes.  We get up at 4:15 to workout on Mondays so I don’t watch until later on, but it’s neat to go straight from the episode and into the aftershow.

Loved the dinner scene where Hays flips from getting romantic and being a guy on a date, to being an investigator...then says something about having to stay focused on work to keep from forgetting everything.

Roland is awesome.
I think they’ve both done a pretty incredible job. The characters are written much better this time. When I went back and watched season 1 recently, there were a few lines that were kind of cringey but the actors were so good it didn’t matter.  The writing was a downgrade in season 2 and the acting couldn’t save it like it did with some of season 1’s issues. I actually think the writing is season 3 is the strongest so far - the story might not end up as interesting or satisfying, but I haven’t heard anything yet where I just rolled my eyes.

So you can watch episode 5 now, they released it early because of some football game?  Maybe it’s a soccer match, and they were talking about futbol?  Anyway, already watched it and it’s another solid episode.

That was some shoot out.

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up.

Just watched it.  Good episode although I'm no way close to figuring out anything as far as the dead kid & the missing daughter.

Thought the emotion, pain, regret, and resentment on Dorf's back porch was some damned good acting by both guys.

Also, is/was posthumous conviction a thing? Never heard of it but I'm a dummie.

2 episodes in. Great so far.

Had a little of that Season 1 magic with the dialogue between the guys regarding the pervert in the trunk and his experience he may receive in prison.

Came in here to say the same.  I really felt that.  Never thought much of Dorf's acting skills prior to this series but he's coming through.

Did anyone else notice that one of 2015 Roland's dogs was the same one from the photos investigating the Woodard crime scene?  Judging by the look in his eye, I am sure he knows something and will be a key part to unraveling the mystery.  Really great acting there.

I don’t understand what you’re getting at with the dog comment?

I'm assuming we don't know what "they did" yet?  Or am I just not following along.
I am guessing they are responsible for the bones of the cousin found in the drained quarry, revealed by the tv interviewer.  But I am not 100% on that.

So let me get this straight

The chick on camera and the voice message is supposed to be the girl 20 years later?

Don't forget we're not allowed to ask questions or speculate in here. Just gotta wait for the show to reveal the answers.

Love the show - but there seems to be a glaring flaw.

-They were told a bi-racial couple in a brown sedan was in that area during the disappearance

-The black man had a scar on his face

-A black man with a dead eye bought up all the craft store dolls

Seems like a lot of detail to not be followed up on.  They did check the one guy locally but cleared him.  Sounds like an easy APB

I think we’re to assume that once Woodard went kaboom, the true guilty parties planted the evidence and that was that. Regardless of other leads, if you get a guy the entire town suspects did it, he kills a bunch of people, and then you find evidence of the missing person, that’s probably about as far as things go.

In the voice mail, she said he wasn't her father and opened the door to the possibility that the real father took her.
How do you do spoiler tags? I read some interesting things about theories.

Theory from Vanity Fair (VERY SPOILER) -

  • The Hoyt's daughter kidnapped the girl to make up for her daughter that was kidnapped and killed (i didn't remember this but apparently it was mentioned in an earlier episode)
  • When the girl on tape referred to her fake dad and to leave her alone, she was actually referring to the AG Kindt, who was also on TV with the father. He helped cover up her kidnapping because the Hoyts are very politically connected.
  • Roland and Purple killed Officer Harris James - who was the one who found the backpack and planted it there. He is part of the cover up.

If you follow Flat Circle podcast on The Ringer they have mentioned all of these theories

Yep I thought they nailed it.  Both have been excellent so far imo.

The Purcell dad too.  Didn't realize right away it was Gordon from Halt and Catch Fire (in which he was awesome, and it is a really good show).
