Trump named Time Person of the Year (1 Viewer)

You mean when you didn't say it here?
I do think Trump allowed language to come out that otherwise was hidden away, his approach allowed those actions to become more mainstream.  But saying that I am "desperate to find a reason that the election loss was due to some evil on the other side" is not correct.   To say that I demonize rather than to accept blame for running a horrible candidate, is inaccurate on 2 counts.  One, I don't think Hillary loss was all that much of a beat down and two she wasn't the candidate I wanted anyway.

I apologize for being careless with my words but saying I am in the weeds for these views is probably worse than my actual views.

Then I don't understand why you think this designation of person of the year is this 'very real pedestal' and why the editorial contradicts that?  If you understand that POTY isn't a pedestal of good, what is to undercut?
Ok look at the men you have mentioned, plus Hitler who probably falls in the category of 'bad guys' (not sure why FDR is there but let's include him anyway):

1939: Joseph Stalin

1938: Hitler

1941: Franklin Delano Roosevelt

(note the FDR link is from 1933, I don't actually see one for 1941 exactly).

1957: Nikita Krushchev

1979: Ayatullah Khomeini

- I don't see any sub-headlines under the pics, do you?

- The depictions of Khomeini and Kruschev are arguably caricatures, admittedly, but they were at least fair to neutral in presentation, ie without any statement underneath them.

I find it entertaining when people who have been wrong about almost everything in politics in the past year continue to think they are always right...

It's the use of the broad brush here and the thinking that it's either/or that's the problem here IMO toshiba....don't think there's anything to apologize for.  It's crystal clear that his rhetoric has given people some confidence to display their beliefs that are similar to the Trump rhetoric.  To ignore that is being willfully ignorant.  To say THAT is THE reason he won is also foolish.  Hillary couldn't get out of her own way multiple times in this race and didn't pay enough attention to specific areas of this country and Trump did.  All those are part of the reason she lost.

Grove:

How about when Obama portrayed all the people in Pennsylvania who lost their jobs as bitter people clinging to guns and religion and being all racists and xenophobic? Seems pretty divisive to me and exactly the type of comments that may actually drove people in those directions.

Or how about when he urged Latino voters to "punish their enemies."

Or remember the campaign video of Paul Ryan pushing an old lady in a wheelchair off a cliff?

Or how about when he won the election and gloated "We won, you lost."

How about the time he said "when they bring a knife, we bring a gun." Not exactly talk to bring us together there.

Almost forgot the time he very classily called his political opponents "Teabaggers"
Well, most of this is factually incorrect. It reads like the Conservapedia entry on Obama's Presidency.

So Trump's rhetoric is causing an increase in violence.

And calling the other political party Hitler, Nazis, Neo-Cons (code for Nazi), deplorable, racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, uneducated, whitelash... that doesn't have any ramifications?

Donald Trump has caused controversy with his comments after being awarded Time Person of The Year.

At an Iowa rally on Thursday night, he said: "They used to call it ‘Man of the Year,’ but they can’t do that anymore, so they call it ‘person.’ They want to be politically correct. That’s OK."

Then, he brought it up again on Friday at a Louisiana rally.

He asked: "Who'd rather have it the 'Man of the Year?"

The president elect then asked the women of the audience if they would rather be Person of The Year, Man of The Year or Woman of The Year.

He concluded: "All the women want it to be 'Man of the Year.'"

Mr Trump said: "That could be why the magazine business isn't so great, right?"

:lmao:

They are never wrong. Since the recount didn't work they are back to blaming the Russians again in another way. It's so sad and hilarious at the same time.

To be fair I wasn't around for the past 2 years leading up to the election.  What I have said all along are things like...

"Hillary will be a flawed candidate, we should nominate Bernie/"

"Fear a Trump candidacy, Americans are dumb enough to elect him."

"Trump won't destroy America, there are too many honorable republicans in congress to let him do any catastrophic damage, but the effect of his presidency will be felt for a long time"
