Turner hurt? (1 Viewer)

It bears worth noting that if this does turn into an issue for Turner (he hasn't missed a practice all season as far as I can tell) that the Falcons face the Panthers in Week 14 (first week of the fantasy playoffs). Can't ask for a better matchup than that for Quizz.

If Turner was out, wouldn't it be a RBBC with Quizz & Snelling?

More than likely Snelling would get the early-down and goal-line duties and would block for Quizz on passing downs and change of pace runs. I could see them leaning further on Rodgers more given that Snelling is really their only fullback with Mughelli on IR and he's already had one concussion this year. One more and Snelling could get promptly dumped to injured reserve ala Sidney Rice this week.

Wednesday practices getting missed means very little.
True, and there's probably a very good chance Turner plays this week. But I've got room on my roster after all the bye weeks, and thought I'd make a preemptive strike rather than getting in a race against others. Thanks!

wed doesn't mean jack, but groin injury doesn't sound good.

anybody have a good beat writer's twitter or blog so I can get up to the minute coverage tomorrow?

If you have room why not roll the dice. There may be better options but this could be just a veteran rest. And if they miss practice they have to list why. Could just be tight, sore etc, tomorrow will be more telling

Not true re: the fullback position. Atlanta signed Mike Cox a few weeks ago, and he's taken over the lead FB role. Should Turner miss time, Snelling and Rodgers would likely split the carries.

Pure speculation: Turner is fine, he was held out of practice and the coaches wanted to put something on the report. Could be wrong but probably nothing to see here.

Worth dropping Helu for Rodgers or should I stand pat?

This season has not been kind for me with running backs. Drafted Charles and FJax, both got knocked out for the season. Drafted Starks, who did crap, replaced him with Ingram who has also done crap. Been leaning on Gore and Turner all season and now both of them are dinged up. Argh.

I hedged my bets and added both of them.

This clearly means Turner will show up at practice perfectly healthy tomorrow and was simply given time off for media appearances.

Thank you informed press & beat reporters for clarifying details on this matter so thoroughly.

Snelling will get majority of carries plus the goaline sets. He's a veteran and the Falcons are a playoff contending team. Rodgers will get a few more carries and stay as the change of pace back but he has homerun threat.

Of course this is only if something were to happen to Turner.

I don't think that's a safe assumption to make.Jacquizz has 38 carries on the year for 168 yards (4.4 avg) and 14 catches for 116 yards (8.3 avg) for 52 total touches.Snelling has 25 carries for 57 yards (2.2 avg) and 16 catches for 122 (7.6 avg) for 41 total touches.

The answer is nobody knows who would be the player to own. My guess would be that Rodgers would get the majority of work with Snelling coming in for short yardage work and change of pace.

For a team that's been as run-centric as the Falcons have been all season, I can't see them wanting to lean on the guy averaging 2.28 yards/carry for very long even if that is the initial gameplan, can you?

You're gonna judge them from that sample size?

Snelling had to fill at fullback for a few games so he did not get as many carries. It was not a demotion.

Snelling has filled in before and done well. The coaching staff no doubt remembers.

65/35 split in favor of Snelling.

Snelling gets most early down and goal line work (and some receptions here and there) while Rodgers is sprinkled in and has his share of explosive plays.

In the case where Turner is out, Snelling is the safe play while Rodgers is the high risk/high upside play.

which player received the majority of first team snaps at practice? anyone know?

i was shocked to see Rodgers listed at 5'6" 196#, MJD is listed as 5'7" 207#. Not to much difference, but...still this leads me to believe Rodgers would not be carrying the load. Snelling has the history of filling in well.... FBG has Snelling listed as the primary backup.

Michael Turner (groin) and Julio Jones (hamstring) both returned to Falcons practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday.

It appears the Falcons were just getting Turner and Jones early-week rest in order to ensure they're as close to 100 percent as possible for Sunday's tough matchup with the Texans. Both players are expected to start on Sunday. We like Jones as a WR2/3, ranking him 24th among receivers for Week 13. Turner is Rotoworld's No. 13 running back facing Houston's top-four run defense.Source: D. Orlando Ledbetter on TwitterDec 2 - 1:33 PM

Agree..Snelling has always played well in place of Turner when needed. Looking at stats that suggest id would be Quizz is misleading because Quizz represents the change of pace. But Snellign is ideally suited to do all the things that Turner does. So it seems to be more logical that Snelling would replace Turner as he has before and actually see more time on the field than Turner does (because there is no snelling replacement to give him the breather he gives Turner) and Quizz would remain in the exact same C.O.P. role.

He returned to practice today.

Turner's return to practice was limited. Doesn't appear as though the Falcons have any good beat writers as it is hard to find any insight beyond the injury report.

Atlanta plays CAR next week.

Snelling and Rodgers shouldn't be available on any waiver wires in any league.

These two could be lottery tickets.
