Tyler Thigpen to Buffalo (1 Viewer)

Portis 26

Madden Freak
Tyler Thigpen is currently languishing on Miami's depth chart (behind Chad Henne, Chad Pennington and maybe Pat White).

When he was with the Chiefs in 2008 with Chan Gailey as his offensive co-ordinator, he actually looked pretty good. He started 11 games and threw for 2608 yards and 18 TDs, and also ran for 386 yards and 3 TDs.

On an annualised basis, that would be equivalent to a 3800 yards/26 TD passing and 561 yards/4 TD rushing.

Meanwhile, over in Buffalo, Chan Gailey has a bunch of random doofuses at QB, none of whom look very good.

I'm sure Miami would take a relatively low round pick for Thigpen. What hasn't this trade already happened? It would make all the sense in the world.

From what I've read, Pennington's rehab from his injuries is making Thigpen getting traded unlikely (at least until his rehab is complete). Miami can't count on Pat White for qb depth.

Definitely makes sense though. Perhaps when Pennington is fully recovered it'll happen.

I think Miami is looking t0 develop Thigpen and turn him into a higher pick - I heard as high as a second or third.

(Rotoworld) Tyler Thigpen is the clear-cut favorite to be Chad Henne's backup this season.

Analysis: Thigpen is being handed the job by default. Pat White appears inept and Chad Pennington is coming off shoulder surgery. Thigpen has some upside with his mobility, but we're still not sure what would happen if Henne got hurt in the regular season. A healthy Pennington would be the safer option for the Dolphins.

Looks like Thiggy's in Miami to stay, at least for now.

 as a Dolphin fan I was very happy getting Thigpen as I think he is better than perception. I also think Pennington is worse than perception, but with Henne entrenched as the starter, whether the backup is Pennington or Thigpen and maybe White mixed in, the Dolphins should trade Thigpen for some value. I get the impression a 4th round pick may be about right

I'm sure it sounds crazy, but as a Chiefs fan I wanted Thiggy to get a shot and instead they invested $60 million+ into a career backup. I wish Cassell the best, but that is the kind of stuff that just sets you back 5 years when it doesn't pan out. There were other needs and a couple of franchise QBs in the draft last year, but we got Cassell and no real OL help or weapons to put around him last year and a year later we still have Chambers at WR2, an injury-prone rookie as TE and still no OL help...but we do have Berry and McCluster, so I guess it could be worse.

I loved gettin thiggy with it in 2008 as he certainly made things exciting, but you have to admit it probably would have looked a lot uglier in 2009 for him if he stayed and Tony G still went to ATL. More than a few times he just locked onto to #88 and went to him regardless of coverage, and Tony G was able to do what he does and come down with the ball.

Pat White is not an NFL QB - admit the mistake and cut him already.

Who knows when Pennington will be ready after shoulder surgery.

Thigpen is currently #2 on the team until Penny proves otherwise.

Plus, if I was Miami, I would not try to trade a guy who could improve a division rival for a measly 5th or 6th rounder.

Buffalo doesn't want Thigpen, he's no better than the 3 guys they have. If Gailey wanted him, he'd have made the move prior to the draft.

It's Brohm or Edwards this year. If they stink it up, Buffalo drafts a QB in the top-10 next year.
