Typing Lose and Loose...such a weird phenomenon (1 Viewer)

Why do so many people write "loose" when they want to say "lose"?   Drives me bonkers.

Lose:  Fail to win.  Unable to find.  Ceasing to have or retain something.

"I'm about to lose my mind if I see someone spell it wrong again"

Loose:  Not firmly or tightly fixed in place.  Not fitting tightly or closely.

"People get really loose with that extra "o" when typing lose"

Language evolves over time. "Yes" used to mean "no" but language evolved. Right now we see the word "literally" is acceptable to use in place of "figuratively". Alanis changed common usage of "ironic".

So complaining about the evolution of 'loose' just makes you some out of touch old man shouting at clouds about all the things the young people do that you don't understand. Get over it, old timer, your days are behind you and it's someone else's world now. Time to step aside, grandpa.

OK boomer.

You loost me here.

Lose/loose is on the same level as woman/women. I see people get this one wrong all the time, and it drives me nuts. It's as if some people are unware of the whole singular/plural thing.

I seen lose loose more than a 1000 times.  Never seen woman women like that.

Great point. It drives me insane. It’s not hard.

Just reading that makes me so angry I turn hotter then a teapot. I need to just lie my phone on the table and than lay in bed for a while.

Some others that drive me nuts are:

Advise v. advice

Smelt v. smelled

Spatter v. splatter (as in blood evidence)

I do concede that, for some bizarre reason, I'll screw up threw v. through (even though I obviously know the difference).

And the people that spell advise with a z.
