U-2 Live on Kimmel last night-Trump (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
Usually I am asleep by the end of Kimmel or any late night show for that matter.  I started watching him interview U-2 and it was a very interesting interview so I stayed up.  Bono took the third seat in and everyone in the band spoke quite a bit and how they got started and professed their love for America over and over again.

That being said they performed a fantastic version of "Still Haven`t found what I am looking for " live and it was uplifting.   If you time watch the whole song.

Something a little different and positive for a change...Enjoy...

It's the version from Rattle and Hum. These guys must check out completely when they play these songs for the millionth time.

Solid!  But I am a simpleton.  I am sure someone could find reason to complain..but I had a great time.

Treasures was fun too.
Are they playing just old stuff* or new crap?

*up to and including Aqualung Baby

Its the 30th anniversary of Joshua Tree tour so they are playing that album in its entirety in the middle of the show.

Starts with 2-3 songs on a separate forward stage out in front..with Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, Pride.  Then they play full Joshua Tree on the main stage in front of some really cool screen effects.  Then the encore(s) which is 6 or so more hits..Beautiful Day etc.  They have been ending with one new song but that's the only new song pretty much in the whole thing. They obviously don't have the energy they once did but it was good times.

Here is a pretty good video..great view of Streets from the Houston show.  Spoiler alert obv for anyone going that doesn't want a preview.

Damn.  That's a good list.

They just announced a Kansas City stop in September.  In again.
Jerks should've just announced the whole tour up front.  They just cost me thousands when I could have seen it in my back yard instead of flying to Chicago.  I'm pissed.

Great show, but coming home and getting that huge slice of eff you just chaps me.

Bad beat.

I feel the exact opposite.  I got the opportunity to see them in Seattle, then come home, relax for the summer, and then get to see them again less than an hour from my house!!  Totally taking the kids this time.  I am super pumped.

Nothing like coming home and being #### on...amirite? :hifive:

Raucous weekend in Chicago:

I went to see Ratt at the Concord Music Hall Friday night, for no other reason than it was three weeks shy of 30 years since my first concert (Ratt w/Poison opening). Got to see one of my early guitar heroes, Warren DiMartini bring the thunder. That was followed by back-to-back  stints in the GA section of the U2 shows at Soldier Field, which were amazing. Had to work from home yesterday because my legs told me they were done and that I'm too old for this $#!t.

Can't wait to see 'em again this fall. I'm thinkin' Indy.

I saw the show Saturday night in Chicago. Very good show, thanks to an amazing set list. I thought the band played pretty well, with a couple hiccups. Bono's voice was as strong as I'd heard live since 2001-03. Edge was on fire all night, killed it.

Highlights for me were the 1-2 punch of Bullet the Blue Sky/Running to Stand Still, as well as "Streets" (will always give me chills) and "Ultraviolet" (has been one of my favorites since AB - second time seeing it played live).

I thought Lumineers were pretty good too.

Streets always gives me "chills" also..  I thought the strongest performance of the night was "Bad"

The lumineers were surprisingly decent, didn't know much about them.. enjoyed their act.

Most I ever spent on concert tickets.  It was good, not great.
Also by far and away the most I've spent on concert tickets... i tried not to let that affect how I judged the show since I bought them aftermarket... though their decision to come to Kansas City today has retroactively made me enjoy the show less.

I've seen u2 three times..  once was the PopMart tour and I was underwhelmed..   once was the Elevation tour and it was phenomenal...   I felt like this time was just a hair beneath the elevation show...   it was very good and one of the finest concerts I've been to.

What could they have done more to make it "great" to you?   I mean the setlists were pre-posted so you knew what songs you were going to get for the most part.

Unless you saw the Sunday show, which from the reviews by people who went to both was definitely worse... then i might get it.

Went to both, thought Saturday was better in terms of set list, performance, and the surprise factor of the spectacle. Also, my GA spot was pretty killer. Sunday was still really good, and I got to hear ASOH.

I saw the first show of the tour in Vancouver.  The Joshua Tree part (one of my favorite eecords) was fantastic.  I didn't care for the opening out on the catwalk with the lights up. Made it feel like i was at a rehearsal.  And I didn't particularly care for having only one song from Achtung although that's just being a fan. The word i use to descrube it is "disjointed" wherein the Joshua tree was amazing and the rest was messy.

So 30 years after their peak they were  not "great". Wow, who could have seen that coming.
shrug.  I saw Poison on Tuesday night and they were excellent.  Springsteen is still great in concert.  Same for Petty.  Stones, Guns, lots of artists pass into their 50's and still have a fastball.
