The U.S.S. Zumwalt was launched today, from the Bath Iron Works in Maine. She is the largest destroyer ever in the US Navy at 600 feet long. As a 'Stealth Destroyer,' she looks like something out of a Bond movie!

Actually it kind of reminds me of the old Civil War Monitor class subs on a huge scale.

Hadn't thought of that, but you're right, she does a bit. Dunno, Tomorrow Never Dies just popped into my head when I first saw the picture!

Elmo Russell "Bud" Zumwalt, Jr. (November 29, 1920 – January 2, 2000) was an American naval officer and the youngest man to serve as Chief of Naval Operations. As an admiral and later the 19th Chief of Naval Operations, Zumwalt played a major role in U.S. military history, especially during the Vietnam War. A decorated war veteran, Zumwalt reformed U.S. Navy personnel policies in an effort to improve enlisted life and ease racial tensions. After he retired from a 32-year Navy career, he launched an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate.

I don't trust our government to get anything right, ever. I however, trust our government to get military stuff right 100% of the time. Always.
