Anyone think Gustafsson has a chance? I don't.
i didn't think he had much of one at all, but i think he won that 1st round. i hope Gus can keep it up
Agreed that he won the first, but not that he keeps it up. I love Jones.
well, i like it more just because it is nice to see Jones being challenged. I always thought Jones was a goof, but he seems to be maturing and i liked him a little better after all of the interviews for this card

My feed is terrible, almost unwatchable. But so far I have Jones losing all three rounds. Very surprising.
it's possible. i don't see how you don't give him the 1st, 2nd was close, and i think the 3rd was close too. I think Jones just stole the 4th with the "spinning ####" he landed at the end of the round that stunned Gus.

I think at this point i am hoping most to see this fight go the distance just to see what the scorecards say. I didn't see this coming at all, Gus's hand speed and accuracy is impressive

Aw, thought he was gonna finish it at the end of the fourth. I'm n the edge of my seat.
Good thing for Jones with this fight is if he wins this it will elavate his status. He is in a war with this one, if he survives and wins it will be good for him. But his face is busted up.

I am just so thankful i didn't put money on Jones before the fight started. I was sooooo tempted

Wow, I give it to the challenger 3-2. I thought Jones would finish it in the 5th but he just seemed too tired. Great fight.

Well, one thing for Gustavason, no doubt he left it all in the cage. Guy looked like he was absolutely wiped out in that 5th

Ahh, not happy with the decision, but you can't say it was controversial. Though 49-46 is pretty much b.s. I would have thought it needed to be a split decision, i can't believe nobody gave the fight to Gustavason. Jones' face is f'd up

I think Jones won. He's got 4 and 5. He only needs one other round on two of the cards, and they were close enough I think he gets that.
I had it 49-46 Jones
which 4 rounds. Is this 1st to Gus, and the rest for Jones?
Yes. Maybe 3 to Gus, but Jones clearly won 4 and 5. You can't fight 3 close rounds with the champ and clearly lose 2 others, ask Frankie Edgar.
Agreed. Real shame Gus couldn't keep it up for the 4th and 5th rounds, but i think your assessment is about right. I have to see 2 and 3 again to be more definitive.

Well I have to say I've been underrating Gustafsson a bit because of the way he got rolled by Phil Davis a few years ago. He hasn't fought any young up and comers since then and I felt like he was being given this fight so they could play up the size vs size thing like it's the WWF since there were no real fights for Jones at LHW. I feel pretty good that Cormier would beat Jones once he gets down to LHW though. No way Jones can outwrestle him, so it's just a question of Cormier being able to close the distance.

:goodposting: Pretty much exactly what I thought when they were announcing scores.

Greatest title fight ever? I'm kind of drawing a blank to think of one that compares but I'm sure there is. Anybody?

If anyone didn't see the Delorme - Careres fight early, it's worth watching with this replay. Excellent fight.
Yeah, Caceras is one of those guys i can see in the UFC for his life. Almost all of his fights are exciting, and he is a joy to watch. he can lose a bunch in a row, and still be fun to see on a card

I have been disappointed with many of the cards/fights recently but tonight is why I will always love the UFC.

Edit: I can't remember the last time I wanted to see the post fight presser but can't wait for it tonight.

Aldo - Hominick was pretty badass.
Bendo-Pettis I has always been my favorite, but this one is right up there. (edit: that was WEC but still a Zuffa event - if we're talking best UFC event I like Frankie-Maynard II. Always have a soft spot for Chuck-Tito II too.)I had it 48-47 Jones, but I could see 49-46 - the first two rounds were pretty damn close. I may have given Gus a little extra credit just based on the fact that it's so unprecedented to see anybody give Jones a fight like that.

this is a real good question. I guess it depends on how you determine what greatest is. there have been a lot of close one's, and exciting one's too. It's funny, because i can't think of a good answer here, mostly because for some reason i have a lot of emotional investment in the fights. Maybe that is a credit to the UFC building the cards like they do. here are some i can think of:

Randy - Big Tim - the combo of the crowd and the fact Randy was coming back made this one a huge emotional charge.

I think my winner would be Chael-Anderson 1. Nobody thought Chael would win that, and then as he dominated you thought he had it locked in, and Silva had that great sub to end the fight. I do think the quote on the broadcast was best LHW title fight ever, and i think it has to be up there. Only other one i can think in contention was Randy beating Tito and spanking him near the end of the fight

Yeah, that was my favorite, too. I was surprised by everything in that fight. Kept waiting for Anderson to land something and take the fight back, and then when I'm finally wrapping my brain around Sonnen winning, Silva pulls out the sub.

So I'm guessing..

FoTN: Jones v Gustafsson

KOoTN: Barao

SoTN: Schaub

There were only 2 subs on the card, but both resulted in putting the other guy to sleep instead of a tap.

agreed - pretty good card overall, only real dud for me was Jury-Ricci. I expected a better performance out of Menjivar too.

Only thing that went wrong that nite was Sonnen got subbed.

Jones and Gustafsson both being taken to the hospital and won't be at the post-fight conference.

FoTN: Jones v Gustafsson
KOoTN: Barao
SoTN: Gagnon (I thought this sub was better but thought they'd give it to Schaub).
