man i hate wrestlers. such boring fights
Yeah, anybody who got excited after the Garcia-Joon fight just got the wind knocked out of them from the 2 fights they just had. That one just hurt. I don't want to ruin for those who aren't watching this, but that one puts a dent in the gameplan for now. Funny stuff with Jake Shields sitting next to Dana for the event. I certainly will jump all over GSP for that fight, and i hope the line comes out close to even with Shields beating Hendo.

I went to put a bit on Manny and the sportsbook pulled the bet when i went to hit submit. I hate when they do that :wall: :banned: It was a shot in the dark, and if he wins at +300 it would be nice. I did add on to Aldo though for tonight, and if Jose loses, it will be a rough night

Well, no doubt about it. I don't want to ruin this for anybody who is waiting to see the card, but the winner of the Pickett-Johnson fight jsut said he thinks he broke his collarbone in the middle of that fight. If that is the case, that is utterly amazing. I know about the guys who break a hand or something and continue to fight and that is completely amazng too, but a broken collarbone, or whatever his medical report will say, is unbelievably amazing.

This might be my favorite card of the year so far, and it's not even through yet. Incredible action.
I know that the UFC was taking some heat for kind of taking over this PPV, but the production and presentation of this card is head and shoulders above the Strikeforce card. Definately a good idea to do it that way, and I don't think it undermines the WEC.

aw man, they zapped tvu and sopcast right as aldo was entering the cage...

trying to get it back now :goodposting:

He may very well snap his leg in half with those leg kicks. They are nasty

And if Aldo wins this, i don't know if he will ever be better than -400. Shame because i love betting on the guy, but that is a lot of chalk to swallow

between silva, machida, and aldo, the brazilians go from exciting and aggressive fighters to completely boring once they have the belts

faber might want to learn how to check a leg kick
I don't know if there is an answer for those kicks that Aldo were throwing. They are so quick and find the range almost every time. And I wonder how people will react to Aldo's 5th round. I think it is respectful, and the right thing to do, and I hope he doesn't catch heat for it. Aldo knew he had that fight dominated and Faber was shot by the 5th round. I think Aldo was respectful to him, and basically didn't want to injure Faber since there was not a reason too. Basically just showed respect to a veteran who he could have kept out of fighting for additional months with adding more damageAnd Aldo looks he could go again tomorrow. I don't know if Faber really landed anything on him. I think you have to consider Aldo in those pound-for-pund rankings as a top 3.

Man, I've seen legs more visibly bruised up than Faber's, but that was just brutal. I cringe thinking of how bad that leg would look if Aldo kept up the leg kicks for the last two rounds.

Awesome card overall.

thats lame. take that **** to a high school wrestling match. When you are getting paid to fight, you go for the kill

Maybe, but these guys get paid to fight. If Aldo hadn't already damaged his leg, he certainly would have in those last 2 rounds. You are looking at the difference between Faber being out 2-3 months, or out for over half the year. I hear what you are saying, but considering Jose regularly destroys everybody in the 1st round, I am more then happy to give him a pass this time. And Sacemento is always a goofy crowd. Way to boo Aldo, deuches.

thought the Korean Zombie should have taken the win, but that was a hell of a tough one to score
Agreed. I think Zombie had that one.
Just watched it again. I think it was a case where the judges were watching and enjoying the fight, and not scoring it. I think the fight was 30-27 Joon, even though Garcia was game the whole fight. This was the difference between a winning night and a losing night gambling wise.

oh well, glad i still have yet to pay for any of these things. Best fights of the night were on cable before the PPV
:goodposting: Watch it for free all you want, but not paying for a great event shouldn't be a point of pride, guy. It's not just a matter of preserving the opponent and avoiding serious injury. These guys train months on end for one single fight. That gives them a completely different perspective on the importance of each fight, and how all of that hard work can go down the drain in a single punch - particularly against a tough opponent like Faber. Pleasing the fans is great, and Aldo has made a habit out of it, so it's hard for me to begrudge him.

You go for the win. Not the kill.

UFC 113 should be a pretty good card. Here are some of the wagers i have so far:

Matt Mitrione +160, +135 over Kimbo Slice: quite a large sum. I figured i would be able to buy out of this closer to the fight, and luckily that has occurred. I think Mittirone wins this one more then 50% of the time, but i may buy out a bit of what i have at stake right now. Either way, still holds good value at -115.

Sam Stout -200 over Jeremy Stephens: about .66 unit. A well set line I think. Stephens has been out for a bit though, and I think Stout is evolving his game. I have always been a Stout fan, so I look forward to seeing him continue to grow.

Alan Belcher -125 over Pat Cote: 1 unit. Another well set line. Cote really caught a tough break with his injury. he was looking better and better, and then got that nasty injury which has kept him out for over a year. that was the factor that had me taking Belcher here, Cote's ring rust. I am hoping Belcher has continued to mature because one of his biggest setbacks in previous fights was he seemed too cocky and for lack of a better word, just immature. I think his talent is there though, and he has those tree trunk legs that will be kicking Cote's leg from round 1 on.

I'm not sure what will happen with Machida-Rua. I have i think .66 unit on Rua when it first opened with him at +160. I am tempted to come back and take a bunch on Machida, but both have been very quiet leading up to this fight. I just went looking for a shot i saw of Machida a week or so ago, and he looked real ripped, but outside of that, i really don't know what either have been up to. I think Machida will win this one, but it could go either way (was my original idea tkaing Rua at +160, i think neither has such a huge advantage over the other). And I will likely put money on Daley over Kos if i get anything over +200. Kos can likely out-wrestle Daley for all 3 rounds, but if he chooses to stand Daley should have the advantage.

I was really hoping Belcher would be an underdog here. I was also hoping Machida had a better line. Stout looks like the best play. I like Kos to win, but I'm not laying 2-1 on a guy that got KO'd by Pualo Thiago (though I think it was a bad stoppage).

some good rumors floating around right now. Apparently Forrest had to pull out of his fight with Lil' Nog for UFC 114, and the rumors are that it could be Thiago Silva or Jon Jones to replace him. Those are 2 great fights that I would be much more interersted in seeing. i would be interested in taking Jones over Little Nog.

No way Jones is fighting someone on Little Nog's level right now. I think he's ready, but they seem to be bringing him (Jones) along very slowly.

I don't know man. the jump from Vera to Nogito doesn't seem to be that huge to me, and Jones mowed down Vera ... who are they going to have him fight now if not someone in the nog tier? Bader? Forrest? Jardine?

Little Nog is way better than Vera.Anyway, Jon Jones Vs. Vladimir Matyushenko is currently official for the August 1 UFC On Versus 2 event.

Skillwise, I agree, but think about the players at 205. Who would you rate between LilNog and Vera? There aren't that many. Maybe 5? Jones just needs a win over any one of them before he's going to get a top tier guy.

yeah, that will be an untouchable line. I think if i have to skip an upcoming card, it may be 114. I lost my luster for Rampage-Rashad, and not many of the other fights have me salivating thinking i have to see the card. maybe we're getting spoiled? I'm interested to see how legit Duffee is, and a couple of other guys on the card, but a little Nog-Jones or Little Nog-Thiago Silva would have won me over a lot more•Rashad Evans vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

•Jason Brilz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira*

•Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller

•Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow

•John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

•Dong Hyun Kim vs. Amir Sadollah

•Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon

PRELIMINARY CARD (Not televised)

•Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares

•Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate

•Joe Brammer vs. Aaron Riley

•Jesse Forbes vs. Ryan Jensen

nice to see that MMA Live has finally made it to one of the ESPN channels. They are showing MMA Live, I believe Thursdays at 1:00 AM on ESPN2. I know they are also looking to do a pre-PPV show on Saturday, and they may have a post too. I am glad to see ESPN is coming around, and i hope it does well

Awesome show. I'm actually a little disappointed to see it going to tv. The show is normally around 40mins long. Now it has to be a bout 22mins.

Josh Neer is a really frustrating guy for me. Sometimes he looks like a monster, other times he looks like he just rolled out of bed. Tough as hell, and can hang with anyone. When he comes motivated, he's a really, really good Fighter. He's been in there and hung tough with nearly every guy at the "B" tier of 155# -- Spenser Fisher, Drew Fickett, Joe Stevenson, Melvin Guillard, Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Kurt Pelligrino -- out of 9 career losses, only 3 guys have finished him (6 decisions losses, 2 were split) and no one has finished him in 3 years.

I wonder if we are all giving Eddie Alvarez the so called "Japanese Inflation". I like EA -- but outside of buttskoot Aoki (who he lost to) and his admittedly great run in the DREAM lightweight tourney in '08 -- I just don't know about some the competition he's faced.

If we get the right Josh Neer in this fight I think we could see an upset.

I like that phrase "Japanese Inflation" and maybe it applies here, but I just see EA being able to keep it standing and consistently put hands on Neer.

I have been staring at the line ever since it came up. I am a pretty big Eddie nut hugger, but i do think Neer is a dangerous opponent for him. Ahrn hits it on the spot with Neer, he is so tough to read. If the "good" Neer shows up i see it going to a decision because that guy won't quit. i think the fight has potential Fight of the Year written all over it, and I know myself I am doing my best to not put money on Eddie at that price. I think the line should have been set closer to -180 or something, and i think the books are under-estimating Neer here.

 . i didn't think about the loss of content, but you're right. I like the idea though of a pre-PPV show on ESPN2 on Saturday, and a post-show is nice as well. I have to think there ratings will be better then whatever else was on ESPN2 at that time, so maybe they will bump it to an hour as they go along.

I am still trying to stay away from the Bellator show tomorrow, and will instead put 2 plays in for the MFC show on Friday:

Jesse "JT Money" Taylor +240 over Thales Leites: Strange line. Taylor would seem to have the advantage standing, and Taylor is a good wrestler who can probably control the ground game. I know Leites is a BJJ ace, but Taylor is much stronger then Leites (I think) and can control it on the ground. I doubt he will fall into a dumb submission. Just seems like a strange line.

Wilson Gouveia -215 over Ryan Jimmo: I know of Jimmo, but not enough to feel overly confident here with this pick. But i have been a Gouveia fan, and if he fights smart he is a quality fighter.

Sportsbook opened up a ton of new lines for some upcoming events.

Sign me up for Florian -125 over Maynard, and Hammil -165 over Jardine pretty big.

I also think there's probably value in Couture up to -1000, but I don't want to tie up too much of my bankroll on him at -550. Penn's definitely worth a bet at -325.

Definitely. Machida / Rua is worth the price alone. The rest of the main card looks really good (and by good, I mean pretty evenly matched fighters):Paul Daley vs. Josh KoscheckJeremy Stephens vs. Sam StoutKimbo Slice vs. Matt MitrioneAlan Belcher vs. Patrick Cote
