I don't think it was premature. He caught him and knocked him out clean, imo. after landing a beautiful shot, Tom Lawlor went into doofus mode going for the finish. those 2 or 3 strikes on the ground were at a terrible angle and he was pretty much flailing like an idiot. So it looked a little "off", right when the ref stopped it but I still think that standing punch left GV seeing 7 canaries and the stoppage was fine with me.

I watched the finished a few times, Gian was knocked down and stunned but he was scrambling to his feet and didn't take any more real punches before the ref jumped in. He was prepared to defend as soon as his butt hit the mat.

We see guys recover from those types of punches all the time. These guys are fighters, they don't need to be babysat by an official.

Noticed that too and it's not the first time. Seems like they do it on purpose. "Main card is going on at X time no matter what happens in the other fights. All the other fights 1st round KOs? Show an hour of commercials, run some promos, have some talking heads blabber on about what might or might not happen in the main event."

yeah, they got me too. missed the whole main event. I know we're supposed to add some extra time by default, but at least TRY to estimate the actual run time...schedule it for longer if needed, then replay the best prelim fight or something. cut back on some of the padding of 15 minute promos, interviews and DC & Brian Stann hamming it up as "analysts".

did you keep wathing after the fight was called? Gian went to stand up0 and fell back against the cage. He coudldn't stand, and this was close to a minute after the fight had already been called. It wasn't a flash KO, he was down and was still rocked a minute later.
