First thing that crossed my mind when she didn't want the title fight, honestly. No idea how the USADA testing works or if it's even possible to time things up on the athlete's end, but my immediate thought was "she needs time to flush after her PED cycle."USADA notifies UFC of potential violation from Cyborg.
I'm shocked, I tell ya.
Unless Derandamie beats her. Then the entire division (all of 2 fighters) is a dumpster fire.UFC can't be too disappointed. They want to be able to prop up Holm and promote the hell out of her. Tough to do when she isn't a champ.
It's a dumpster fire anyway. Cyborg is a roided up 155 pounder with higher testosterone levels than most men and the rest of them belong at 135, which isn't much better really. They should just drop the pretense of WMMA and have the ring girls do "foxy boxing" if that's how they want to roll.Unless Derandamie beats her. Although JJ is a legit bad a$$.
WMMA is a joke for the most part. They're almost all part time ham-n-eggers.
I guess we will have to disagree. There are a bunch of very good women fighters.WMMA is a joke for the most part. They're almost all part time ham-n-eggers.![]()
Or do you think that PVZ actually deserves the promotional push she gets for her fighting ability as opposed to being hot?
Yeah, we definitely disagree. I won't argue that there have been some good fights, but as far as skill level goes, there are dudes teaching the average YMCA karate or jiu jitsu class with more experience and skill than more than half of the UFC roster of women. Sorry, it's a fact.I guess we will have to disagree. There are a bunch of very good women fighters.
They put on some great fights, too.
I feel pretty sure about this. Are we sure PVZ is better looking than Waterson?
well im convincedYeah, we definitely disagree. I won't argue that there have been some good fights, but as far as skill level goes, there are dudes teaching the average YMCA karate or jiu jitsu class with more experience and skill than more than half of the UFC roster of women. Sorry, it's a fact.

Reportedly her first random test. All other tests were during fight camps. Oops.USADA notifies UFC of potential violation from Cyborg.

Definitely not the last we've heard of this.Cain is still saying he's in. I don't believe him.@arielhelwani 5m5 minutes ago
Just spoke to NAC's Bob Bennett. He confirmed Velasquez is out of 207. "He's unfit to fight," Bennett said.@bokamotoESPN 1st reported.
Will love to see the fallout down the line from UFC allowing Rousey to not have to participate in any media/pre-fight obligations.Definitely not the last we've heard of this.
Freaking Choi was the best loser I ever saw.I was turning the TV off about to go to bed, it happened to land on Fox. Found myself watching the Swanson-Choi fight. That was one of the best fights I've ever seen in my life.
Watched it tonight too, un-freaking-believable fight! Sooooo good.I was turning the TV off about to go to bed, it happened to land on Fox. Found myself watching the Swanson-Choi fight. That was one of the best fights I've ever seen in my life.
Good call: Cain Velasquez off UFC 207 card as NSAC won't approve fighterCain is still saying he's in. I don't believe him.
Nice job, Cain.Earlier this week, Velasquez, 34, told ESPN.com he had suffered from back painduring training camp and was already scheduled to undergo surgery on Jan. 4. The San Jose-based heavyweight said he had relied on Cannabidiol (CBD) to dull the pain enough to train.
"It's an achy pain that goes down your leg, and it gets to a point where if you're standing for 10 minutes, you have to sit down," Velasquez told ESPN.com. "If you're going out for a while, a half-hour, you know it's going to be pretty painful. You have to sit down and take the compression off your back."
Despite those revelations, both Velasquez and his longtime coach Javier Mendez insisted the fighter would be fine to face Werdum. The fight was supposed to be a rematch of a heavyweight title fight that took place in June 2015.
"As far as preparation, I've done everything," Velasquez said. "I've sparred, wrestled. I'm not missing workouts at all. I've done my conditioning -- everything. I feel great going into this."
According to sources, the NSAC still canceled the bout for fighter safety due to Velasquez's comments regarding the injury.

WTF, did he blow himself up?? F'n moron if so. I loved watching "Cardio" Cain. His style was so appealing to me. That dude just never stopped. Then the debacle in Mexico City happened and I asked myself "how the F do you not train at altitude, when the venue is like 10000 feet in the air?" Then the constant whining about injuries. I'm convinced that we won't ever see the old Cain again. He's a 35 year old dude with back problems. The HW division seems like a wasteland, or is it parity? I think wasteland.According to sources, the NSAC still canceled the bout for fighter safety due to Velasquez's comments regarding the injury.
Cody vs Cruz should be good.Quez said:I'm not too excited about 207, no matter how big of a star Dana White tells me Rousey is.
Definitely Top 5 for me.coyote5 said:Watched it tonight too, un-freaking-believable fight! Sooooo good.
I think that outside of Healthy-younger Cain (and maybe recent Werdum) we havent seen any really supremely well rounded heavyweights. Each champ has almost always had a glaring weakness (cardio, heart, submission defense, striking....) And the next guy has just been able to exploit it. You look at champs in other divisions and while of course champs have areas they are more proficient in vcersus others, the glaring deficiencies are just not there like they are in the HW division. As to why -- not sure.Dedfin said:WTF, did he blow himself up?? F'n moron if so. I loved watching "Cardio" Cain. His style was so appealing to me. That dude just never stopped. I just started watching in 09, so I'm a newer fan than most of you. Is it something about the HW division that lends itself to short term champions? Or have we just not seen a great champion emerge yet (sample size?) I looked up the list of UFC champs, and amazingly Cain has held the continually belt longer than anyone and the longest total days as a champ. I was surprised that some of the oldies weren't longer.
Lack of depth. One great skill can carry you a long ways fighting cans. No need to evolve until it's too late.I think that outside of Healthy-younger Cain (and maybe recent Werdum) we havent seen any really supremely well rounded heavyweights. Not so much the top end depth (though it is still incredibly weak outside the top ten), but getting there. Before they make the UFC, and the first few fights in the UFC, they fight against bums that they just demolish. When you're KOing or submitting everyone in the first round on your way up, why work on other areas? The regional LW is lightyears ahead of the regional HW in overall talent.Back in the Sylvia/Arlovski/Monson days, I'd have agreed but I think once the 2nd gen of HVYs hit the scene (JDS, Cain, Carwin, Reincarnated Frank Mir, Overeem, Werdum, etc) that the depth was not an issue anymore.
Maybe it was just not-as-terrible-as-before, but still kinda crappy. Dunno.
Top shelf 250ish pound athletes are primarily playing in the NFL and NBA, even pro wrestling -- all of which pay exponentially better than does MMA.I think that outside of Healthy-younger Cain (and maybe recent Werdum) we havent seen any really supremely well rounded heavyweights. lol, i need to be punched in the nuts for thinking this, but i think i totally agreeJunie Browning coming back for the next season of TUF. I may actually have to watch again.
Josh Barnett flagged by USADA
Least surprising news ever. Pretty sure that's at least #4 for him, and he spent the bulk of his career in Japan during the Pride era when "no testing" was written right into the contracts.
It looks like they loaded the front of the card with some middle ranked welterweight bouts. Those could end up being pretty good.Cody vs Cruz should be good.
Nunes is a perfect match up for her style-wise. I expect Nunes to charge, get tossed, and get tapped via armbar in round one. Followed by endless amounts of "she's back" hype. :XRousey fight predictions?
I know most of you pretty much hate her. What do you think her state of mind is? I can't figure out this no media thing. Not sure if she's just ####ed up in the head now or what.
Eh, I don't think that Cody has much of a chance. John Dodson's movement gave him fits to the point that he resorted to the "stand there and make fun of him for running" nonsense. He's not going to be able to touch Dom. Of course, Cody hits hard and might catch Cruz with a bomb early, but this looks like an easy 50-45 UD based on movement and cardio to me. Much more interested to see the rematches with TJ or Mighty Mouse.Cody vs Cruz should be good.
I think Rousey will win. I think the media ban was just to allow her to focus on training.Rousey fight predictions?

She'll probably need to change camps for this this to happen IMO -- Tarverdyan isn't the coach to take her to the next level on the feet.I think Rousey will win. I think the media ban was just to allow her to focus on training.
I have no idea if her striking has improved or not, but it won't matter if she can get her hands on Nunez.
Jim Rome as a replacement? Please no.
:XJim Rome as a replacement? Please no.
Just a rumor, but it still makes me uncomfortable. He doesn't need the money and I'm sure he's probably too long in the tooth, but a guy I wish would call these fights is Lamps. As a kid I loved boxing matches Lamps called. This isn't realistic though.:X
I hope that isn't true. They already have several good guys, Rome doesn't fit in at all.
