UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (3 Viewers)

he had the fight, and would have won if they didn't give Poirer a few minute break
You can't say that.  That weird mount against the fence isn't some uncounterable position.  He didn't have the space to land bombs (hence the bow).  Pretty sure DP would have made it to his feet somehow at some point had Eddie not fked up there.

and why do they let DC still do color commentary? he comes off as one of the more bias announcers, strange that they let him keep calling some of these fights

i don't know, re-watch the 2nd round. The body shots had taken effect, and Eddie was getting a takedown every time he went for it. Thought he would get the choke, but Poirer deserves credit for fighting that off. I just think those shots from the 1st were taking effect, and Eddie would have won without the bad interruption in the fight

Those body shots weren't affecting him when he was picking his shots lighting up Eddie on the fence *shrug*

They stood them up and Eddie got his ### handed to him. He wasn't about to end the fight on the ground.  He had the momentum but it was far from locked up and the ref standing them up didn't had DP the fight.  He took that ####.

you guys get weird. SO now it is ok to talk #### to an opposing coach after a fight, and then complain about it in a post-fight speech?
I turned it off at the end.  IDK anything about that.  But Eddie did not have the fight in the bag and standing them up didn't give Dustin any kind of special advantage.

I’m not as in depth with MMA as the rest of the thread but Eddy seemed he was using a lot of “veteran tricks”. Holding the fence, fingers in Porier’s ear and a accidental head butt in the first. Then of course the 12 to 6 elbow.

It might not have given Porier an advantage but it definitely took an advantage away for Alvarez.

Totally.  But it's not like he had him in the back mount in the middle of the 'gon.  It was a dominant position for sure, but he'd have to advance it somehow.  He was too close to rain strikes and I don't think there's any subs for him there.  He was pretty far from victory at that point but the momentum is there.

Big win for Fox tonight.  Awesome card, great fights.  The rematch lived up to expectations, and I'm glad to see Porier take it.
is that the last card on Fox, or do they have any left? have been out of the loop for a bit, does their contract with ESPN start at the end of the year (pretty sure the Fox contract started near the end of the year when they rushed the Cain-JDS fight)

Dominic Cruz was talking about this.  He said it may have saved Porier some energy, but Porier stands up to easily.  Dominic is a great announcer btw, love his technical breakdowns.

There is one more listed as UFC on Fox event (#31).  It is scheduled for Dec 15.  That looks to be the only one before ESPN takes over in 2019.

There will still be a bunch (9ish) Fight Night fights on FS1.

Also, I know we're 3 months away, and the InjuryFairy is an ####### and will likely be by to visit us before then....

but right now UFC230 has:

Weidman / Rockhold

Nate / Poirer

Yoel / Paulo Costa

I understand Nate saying he's gonna back out.  He has had beef with the ufc not promoting other fighters equally, and they basically used the press conference to announce Conner / Khabib.   Both he & Porier are now realizing they can wait until 230, and have their names in the hat for either the championship, or a CM $$$ fight atthe end of the year / early 2019.

yeah that was a sh't show if there ever was one. UFC just seems lazy with some of these press conferences, what did they think Nate was going to do. And Nate is way too big for his own head, would love to see him back, but he is wasting time and losing money playing so many games. Maybe he is one of the rare pro's who has enough money as now, and doesn't feel like he has to have every single penny. He wants more sure, but he isn't dependent on it.

So....uh.  Yeah.   I'm just gonna come clean here.  I have no idea who any of the 8 people on this prelim card are.  Didn't Montel Jackson sing "THIS IS HOW WE DO IT" ?

BW - Pedro Munhoz  vs.  Brett Johns

BW - Ricky Simon  vs.  Montel Jackson

BW - Ricardo Ramos vs Kyung Ho Kang

FW - Sheymon Moraes vs Matt Sayles

Also, DC mentioned a rule that California has in place now -- I've never heard of this before but it's a good thing to help against some of the massive weight cuts and associated problems --

In California, in addition to the normal weigh-ins, they now weigh people an hour before the fight and you can't weigh more than 10% more than the weight class or else you don't fight.  ex, the 135s have to weigh in at 135 (136 for nontitle) the night before, but an hour before the fight they can't weigh above 148.5 (135 + 10%).

Good rule.   Hope other states do the same.

Yeah I mean there are just so many cards and fighters now it's tough to follow.

Good chance Cody Garbrandt couldn't name any other fighters on the card including his opponent. So we got that going for us.

Alex Perez is a guy to look out for based on his win earlier.  High output (170 punches thrown in 4 min), yet patient with a good feel for range.  Landed 60+% on his shots and those that did miss were on the forearms and shoulders. Took a couple good shots too. Seems like an exciting fighter.

holding out hope Cub has some left in the tank at +265, and taking Cody at +135 cause the guy is a d-bag and i got a feeling he will find some way to do something
