UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (3 Viewers)

this is kind of a weird fight...for the minute or so each round De Castro actually fights, I feel like he's been beating Hardy. But then he just goes inactive for the rest of the round and lets Hardy take over.

then again I guess he hurt his toe or something. Plus as much as I dislike him, Hardy is starting to show some improvement as a fighter and could potentially be a real contender in a couple years.

Hurt the foot. Still thought he won r1 and lost 29-28. But all 3 judges went 30-27.   Been some weird cards tonight.

If Thug Nasty doesn't have a title shot and a Joe Rogan Experience appearance by the end of 2020, then Covid wins.

Watching this while listening through bluetooth headphones is awesome. Hearing every strike, hearing the fighters breathe...highly recommend.

People talk about Ngannou being the best have such a short memory. As if Stipe didn't make the big bad Frances look like a mouse. Beat him and mind F'd him so bad he barely extended his arms against Derrick Lewis.

But since the Lewis fight, Ngannou has 4 first round finishes in 1:11 or quicker.

Didn’t like that stoppage at the end of the round. Not all those shots were connecting.
yeah but enough did while Cruz had his face planted and wasn't moving his arms that I have no issue with the stoppage. I think his lights were out and he started to recover right at the end of that barrage, but too late.

Cejudo, man...I'm not a fan but gotta admit he had a great run there at the end (if this is really the end).

Before Stipe, he had a 100% finish rate also. Point being, smart fighters at the elite level would put him on his back immediately just as Cormier said.

Yeah I think it may have been 50-45 if it finished, great poise by Justin the whole fight. That wear and tear on Tony will effect him going forward, you can only take x amount of that.

I had a really fun night. Like I said earlier, first week we could bet with DK/FD in Colorado on sports. I ended the night UP---$3.00. I threw cash around like a drunken sailor, so it really could have ended up badly. Not sure the wife is amused with these new developments.

My feed went out halfway through the first round, I had to scramble and find a stream via Twitter...by the time round 2 started I was up and running. Whew! Iwould have been pissed if I missed that fight.

I think it's possible some judges would give Tony the second for wobbling Justin before the bell. But that's debatable, and JG won the other four and probably had a 10-8 round going in the last one.

totally agree about the damage from this one sticking with Ferguson. That was insane punishment and he's no spring chicken.

Dang, what a great fight. I’m a big Gaethje fan, but really want to see Ferguson-Khabib. That division is just stacked with great fighters.

Gaethje could be ready for a great run if he continues to keep his poise in these fights. He dismantled Tony.

Tony and Gathje are two of my favorite fighters.  Deep down I wanted Tony to win, but I thought this was a more difficult matchup than even Khabib.  The way Justin melted James Vick had me thinking he may be able to do that to a longer rangier Tony.  Big props to Tony for surviving the punishment.  He looked slower, and like many I wonder if the weight cut had to do with it.  Justin also looked stringer, and at one point just pushed Tony across the ring.  Tony had an off night, and Justin was patient and poised.  I don't even think Tony landed a signature elbow, because he couldn't get close enough.  Even if khabib mauled Tony 5 rounds there is always the possibility of him catching Khabib in a sub.  The closest he got was a pathetic imanari roll.

ETA was just watching the highlights.  If there was more time in the round where Tony landed the uppercut it may have turned out different.  Justin was stunned for sure and looked like he may have been exposing his back, Tony didn't pounce tho.  His strikes looked weak and ineffective.  He kicked him the head a few times but overall didn't looked like he did too much damage at all.  The leg sweep at 2:15 was cool it reminded me of a street fighter move.

Early odds

Gathje+245, Khabib -285

I don't bet often but think I may pound Gathje whenever they announce this.  Justin will hold his own in wrestling, and he clearly has the advantage on his feet.  Khabib is going to shoot into a knuckle sandwich eventually.

I still think Khabib is on a different planet with his grappling. Justin may be a great defensive wrestler, but having Khabib hang onto to him will be like grappling a heavyweight.

I've made a ton of dough betting Khabib, especially as a clear favorite when the underdog ( Hey Connor!) gets way too much action and his price drops to ridiculous levels.  Won't stop till I get proved wrong.

Who is the best wrestler Khabib has faced?  Iaquinta?  He did ok, and he isn't nearly the wrestler Gathje is.

I still really want to see Gaethje fight McGregor at 155 before challenging Khabib. It also makes more sense from a business perspective.
I think that is best route for UFC to take.  Right now Gaethje isn’t a star and barely known by the general public.  A fight with Connor will send him to a new level and make him a huge draw in a Khabib fight.  For the UFC of course Connor winning would be preferred since he’s the biggest draw in the sport, but if Gaethje beats him it’s till a win for UFC in creating a huge PPV event for the Khabib fight.

I like Gathje's odds vs Khabib over Conor.  Gathje is better now, but he was out struck by Porier & Alvarez.  Conner has better standup than all of these guys.  I would still lean Gathje over Conner, but I think the way to take down Justin is to hit him in the head enough.  Conor needs to beat someone at 155 before he gets a shot at either champ.  Connor vs Tony or Porier.  Porier vs Ferguson is another one that makes sense, but Ferguson probably isn't on their schedule.  Porier needs a flight.  ETA looks like Porier is fighting Dan Hooker
