Who's strategy was the thigh punch?  Must have been an Eddie Bravo idea.
Right???  That crap had me going NUTS!  He probably landed it a dozen+ times before Joe finally said something about it and I was like THANK YOU!!!!!  I was shocked none of the announcers had addressed it.  I don't recall Gaethje effectively countering it, but it just made so little sense from a strategic perspective.  Especially past rnd 2.

Yoel Romero did that but but he was actually a threat to shoot.  Listened to a Luke Thomas podcast today saying that despite his wrestling background, Tony has never taken anyone down from a shoot.  Here we all thought this guy was so well rounded, but his one hole is he is 0 threat to take you down.  His jiujitsu is primarily a defensive thing as well, as he used it vs Kevin Lee.

Big kudos to Smith for having heart but damn that fight should have been stopped before the 5th, Teixeira had already knocked some teeth out.

I think immigrants that learned English by watching Fresh Prince and Married With Children speak better English than Nate Landwehr... Holy crap.

Yeah what a train wreck! Also didn’t think he came even close to winning the 1st round and he got two 30-27 cards.

Agreed. This could be one of the worst cards in history. A girl fight headlining, and a bunch of pretty much no-name little dudes.
I think that’s a little overboard.  If you had a legit main event and move every other fight down a slot it’s a fine card.  Main event is kind of a big deal though lol

Three bantamweight fights and a girl fight on the main card? And the other fight is Magny/Martin?

I'll stick with this being one of the worst cards in history.

I think Nunez is a competent half of a legitimate main event, but Spencer is not a big enough name as the other half.

The card can still be crazy fun, but it's pretty weak on paper.

Agreed. A card this weak needs a big main event - if it was Nunez/Rousey or Nate/Connor or something like that, then maybe it would fly. I'll still buy it because that's what I do, but my excitement level is at about a 1.

From a business standpoint Dana is wise not paying big money the fighters are wanting.  Being the only sport on they don't need the big names.  Save the big names for when you need to fill arenas.in the fall.  At the end of the day people want to make money.   For every Masvidal /Diaz / Conner that holds out, there is a Gilbert Burns waiting for an opportunity.

I wonder if Bellator has deep enough pockets to pay Jon Jones and Masvidal what they want. They're owned by CBS/Viacom right? I'd love to see Coker steal some of the top guys and put them on network TV.

What's the appeal about it being on network tv?  Just so you don't have to pay for/steal it?

The hell? Are you serious, how are you so way off track? Don't be so small-minded. Think bigger.

You don't think a promotion that wants to showcase a newly signed Jones and Masvidal would want to make a huge deal of it on primetime CBS? Even if it's just an FU to Dana White?

Think bigger about what?  Why as a fan would I care if a fight is on CBS?  Does having a sport on network tv even matter anymore?
