Trying to figure out if I underestimated Stann or overestimated Leben. Leaning towards overestimating Leben. I'm sure Stann will cost me more money down the line. I'll make sure Leben doesn't though.
Leben looked like he hadn't slept in a week at the weigh in. He has been going through some personal stuff and I think underestimated what Stann brought to the table. He was peeved that he didn't draw a bigger name for an opponent after fighting twice in a month when the UFC needed him last time around.
I read somewhere that it was folly to expect a great effort from an alcoholic the day after the biggest drinking night of the year.

This just makes too much sense.

Chael's situation sounds like it could be kind of ugly, but some other news today. It seems like Strikeforce is trying to put together an 8-man HWY tournament that will start on Feb 12. First round is Fedor-Antonio Silva, Overeem-Werdum, Barnett-Rogers, and Arlovski-Kharitonov. A lot of peopple are wondering if this will actually happen, but if it does, kudos to Strikeforce:http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/1/4/191347...rce-heavyweight

tournament has been confirmed - Strikeforce Tournamentfirst two bouts (Fedor-Silva, Arlovski-Kharitonov) are supposed to happen February 12 in NJ, and the other two will happen March 5.

I have my doubts about how well this will go too, given SF's track record, but damn if it's not one of the more interesting things I've heard lately. I really hope they're able to pull this thing off.

Machida vs Couture April 30th in Toronto? :bag: I hope it isn't true.

Jon Jones calling out Silva for playing "pattycake" on Vera's back. Maybe we get Jones vs Silva if Jones gets past Bader?

Didn't Fedor sign a 3 fight deal with SF? Any chances he bolts after the Bigfoot fight?

They just re-signed him.

So captains for TUF are JDS and Lesnar? Anyone suprised?
So Dos Santos' team member get trainers from Black House while the other guys get big wrestlers from the middle of a corn field. Ugh.
:hifive:The Nogueira Brothers, Silva and Mark Munoz vs Marty Morgan, Erik Paulson and Peter WelchETA: Any guesses on what the line will open at and move to? I'd think that Lesnar would open as a slight favorite, maybe -140, then get bet down to even until close to the fight and then see a bunch of public $$$ come in on Lesnar.

Lesnar has an awesome BJJ coach. Don't remember his name right now. Paulson is legit too.I just read JDS opened as a -155 favorite.

Lesnar's team is underrated here. Paulson is a really good coach. The gameplan he devised for Lesnar on the ground vs Mir was one of the better scouting and coaching jobs I can recall in MMA.And I like Lesnar @ +130 right now, I'm a huge proponent of "striking opens up TD attempts" but I have little faith in JDS's wrestling to stuff Lesnar's bull rush.

I'm sure Lesnar's coaches are no slouches, but I don't think you can put together a much better team than the Nog's for BJJ and Silva for striking (maybe even Machida).Surprised that JDS opened as a favorite.

Surprised that JDS opened as a favorite.
Really? Lesnar has proven that he reacts terribly to getting hit in the face, and Dos Santos is pretty good at hitting people in the face. Of course, we have no idea how Dos Santos will handle Lesnar's wrestling, so there is no way I would risk any money on this fight.

Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros is Lesnar's jiu-jitsu coach. Lesnar can bring in a solid group, but his team will be second best.

:goodposting:I would put money on JDS if I can get it close to even. Just expected Lesnar to open as the favorite because of the amount of fanboys he has behind him.

Fan boys typically don't bet opening lines. Right before fight time has been the best time to bet on Lesnar's opponent.

I doubt all those guys will commit to coaching a season of TUF. They're likely to have cameos, but not to be on staff. They have their own fights to worry about.

You have to feel bad for Bisping and Rashad with all of these. I know Rashad's face was put on to everything after machida KO'd him. as for the card this weekend, i think it could be pretty good. Guillard-Evan Dunham could be a good one if Guillard has continued to mentally grow. Also excited to see Cody McKenzie - Yves Edwards. Only bet so far, and i like this one a lot:

Cole Miller -170 over Matt Wiman - the only reason i don't completely unload on this is because Wiman has had a lot of time to improve. i haven't heard anything about him improving, and i think Cole is better then Wiman in every aspect

Dominick Cruz's hand after surgery. :lmao:

LHW Jon Jones next to the bigger Andrei Arlovski.

My best play this weekend is Mitrione. His matchup with Hague seems like a step back. Hague was 1-3 in his last UFC stint (and that win was after Pat Barry gave him his head for a guillotine). In Hague's four fights, he has was out-struck easily by Barry, KOed in 7 seconds by Todd Duffee, and decisioned by Chris Tuchscherer (who has looked mediocre) and Beltran (who Mitrione already beat and has looked just barely better than mediocre). Anyway, Mitrione is a meat head, but he's better than Hague.

I think Mitrione actually has a decent future ahead of him. Really impressed with him utilizing leg kicks correctly against Kimbo. This one will not be close.

lot of you may know this already, but if you "like" the UFC on Facebook, you can watch a free stream of the prelims there on saturday.
Are they also going to air on that TV station again (ION or something like that)? I just realized last week I have it.
doesn't look like it.
With Fight For The Troops 2′s maincard already set for a Spike TV telecast, there was seemingly no place for the prelim fights to be shown live. But the UFC got creative and is streaming two undercard fights live on Facebook for those of us who “Like” the company’s fan page.At 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST on Sat., Jan. 22, the UFC will stream Yves Edwards (#53 Lightweight) vs. Cody McKenzie, and DaMarques Johnson (#75 Welterweight) vs. Mike “The Joker” Guymon (#126). To watch, all you have to do is click “Like” on the official UFC Facebook page.Fight For the Troops 2 will air live on Spike TV from Fort Hood, Tex. at 9 p.m. on Jan. 22. The televised card features Evan Dunham (#19 Lightweight) vs. Melvin Guillard (#16), Matt Mitrione (#25 Heavyweight) vs. Tim Hague (#88), Pat Barry (#58 Heavyweight) vs. Joey Beltran (#46), and Mark Hominick (#15 Featherweight) vs. George Roop (# 29). What do you guys have in your notebooks on Yves "Thugjitsu Master" Edwards? Don't think I've ever seen him fight. Probably gonna throw some at Cody either way but would be nice to know. I mean......Thugjitsu? lol

At one point, Yves was among the most exciting fighters in the world. His fight against Josh Thomson a few years back ended in one of my favorite knockouts ever. I doubt he'll ever be a top ten lightweight again, but he's definitely a sharp, well-rounded dude. I'm favoring him in tomorrow's fight due to experience, but won't be surprised if Cody adds another name to the guillotine victim list. And Thugjitsu is still funny.

Yves has been around forever, and is certainly a legit fighter. I can't remember his latest fight he had with his return to the octagon, but Yves should be savvy enough to avoid the guillotine. I can't blame you for betting on Cody because the guy has the heart and has had some time to up his training, but you can't underestimate Yves.for me, the accounts are low so i'm not too sure of any bets right now. I think I will take a little on Melvin over Dunham, i just think his work with Mike Winklejohn and traiing with Guida and Joe Daddy has his game at a level it was expected to be. I am thinking Dunham will have trouble taking Melvin down and holding him down when he is on the ground. I think it will be a good fight definitely. Also will mess around with some parlays to hope and get an easy jump in the acct. I have Mitrione, Berry, and Cole Miller in, and will mix in some other guys. I am a little concerned if Berry is healthy from his broken hand and foot, but i still can't imagine him losing to the Mexicutioner (though i am a bit of a fan of his). I have to think him and Meathead have been training like absolute madmen for their fights.

kind of crazy how this card tonight doesn"t have really any push or excitement to it. I think it will be a good night of fights, and I think it will be a good card for fringe fans to watch because your bound to get some real good stand-up from most of the fights. Looking at the card that will be televised, i really see no chance for a boring fight or any lay-and-pray

i also had to get the wife's facebook account info. to watch the prelims. I'm guessing the UFC would rather show their stuff on facebook then the ION channel, certainly says something about ION

EDIT: Wow, not having it on TV can get kind of funny. While they were waiting for a decision to be called (usual commercial time) they had a good piece of Rogan totally ripping into Goldberg. I guess Goldberg is wearing feet warmers, and changed them during this commercial break, and it was kind of funny to hear Rogan rip into him pretty good

ETA2: Totally forgot about the last Fight for the Troops card, but i think we can prepar ourselves for a ton of USA chants. i think you may get smoe for Beltran, and maybe even Hogue, but that should be it.

Went light on this card with Johnson, Barry and Mitrione.
I hope Barry is healthy enough, but the guy is enough of a nut that i guess it doesn't matter. Continuing a fight with a broken hand and a broken foot againt Cro Cop is crazy in itselfAnd the undercard was a little tough. With the influx of WEC guys, there are quite a few guys I am not as fmailiar with as I wish i was to gamble on them.

Caught the very end of Cody/Thug. Sounds like Cody was doing well for the most part of two rounds?

What's up with this Barry line moving big? Is word out he's not 100%?
