Terrible takedown defense from Amir. He's a heavy dude, but Hardy (of all people) took him down repeatedly.
Hardy took some solid shots in that fight too. he might stick around a bit more, i thought he was looking to move on from the sport for a bit

Pretty good action

Nice to see some new blood that looks talented (Gunnar and Manuwa). Both looked great albeit against weak competition. Hopefully this is the end of Kingsbury. Not really sure why, but I just can't stand the guy and think he's one of the worst fighters on the roster.

Agree on all counts. Terrible. don't want to ever see him again.

TIGER UPPERCUT~!
I think "one-punch" Pickett's punch needs to be recognized again, so anybody who missed it it is a good fight to catch (Pickett-Jabouin)Also, still can't believe that Big John told Jones "Well you were playing the game!" after Belfort went to kick Jones when he had both hands and feet on the mat. One of the stranger things i have seen, and just weird for Big Jon to kind of ignore the rules and call out Jones like that.as for the FX card this weekend (Friday, not Saturday. Which i am not a fan of, just keep it on Saturdays goofs), it looks like a good one. both the fights on Fuel and the FX card will be fun. Main Card (FX, 8 PM ET/PT)Travis Browne (13-0-1) -225 vs. Antonio Silva (16-4) +185Jake Ellenberger (27-6) -355 vs. Jay Hieron (23-5) +285Jussier da Silva (14-1) +175 vs. John Dodson (13-5) -215Josh Neer (33-11-1) -285 vs. Justin Edwards (7-2) +225Preliminary Card (FUEL TV)Yves Edwards (41-18-1) +195 vs. Jeremy Stephens (20-8) -245Danny Castillo (14-4) +120 vs. Michael Johnson (11-5) -150Dennis Hallman (51-14-2, 1 NC) +190 vs. Thiago Tavares (17-4-1) -240Shane Roller (11-6) +150 vs. Jacob Volkmann (14-3) -180Diego Nunes (17-3) -205 vs. Bart Palaszewski (36-15) +165Phil Harris (21-9, 1 NC) +215 vs. Darren Uyenoyama (7-3) -275Preliminary Card (Facebook)Marcus LeVesseur (21-6) -115 vs. Carlo Prater (30-11-1) -115Mike Pierce (14-5) -170 vs. Aaron Simpson (12-3) +140Would like to hear Abrantes thoughts on Jussier da Silva. I hear he is a bad ###, but i haven't seen any of his fights yet. i'm not sure what i like on this card yet. Surtprised Stephens, Neer, and Brown are such heavy favorites. there is some value here, just want to make sure on some things. I like LeVesseur quite a bit, and if the dope didn't stick his head in McKenzie's guillotine he would be getting a lot more love

Hallman misses weight by 7 pounds, fight with Tavares cancelled.

You've gotta think that's it for Hallman in the UFC.

Yeah, strange thing and he better have a real good excuse for it (like a significant injury or something). considering he missed weight last time, you do have to think he either is fine with getting cut, or there is a real significant reason why he couldn't cut the weightluckily the card is stacked, so missing the fight won't be a big deal

Silva has gotten destroyed his last 2 fights. Browne is likely no Velasquez or Cormier, but I can see him being the favorite.Justin Edwards looks middling at best. Dunno when his contract is up, but I don't expect him to be in the UFC this time next year.

That was mind boggling. :lmao:

not positive of my UFC picks for tomorrow, but i feel obligated to play the card since baseball has slowed down and my NFL season has not started off well (luckily the losses are mostly non discipline and dumb bets, and not wrong reads on games). I also feel a little obligated to play it since i am so hot with my UFC picks these days (85-90%). All that said, i don't see any fights stand out like the last cards, so be weary:

Travis Browne (13-0-1) -225 vs. Antonio Silva (16-4) +185 -not a great call, if Silva goes higher i think i take him. usually when i am on the fence about a fight, and it is near the card, i will layt a little on the dog, so will likely go that route.

Jake Ellenberger (27-6) -355 vs. Jay Hieron (23-5) +285 - small play, Hieron. real small, probably is a bet more with my heart than my head. if i could parlay i we9ould have ellenberger in some parlays because he really should win this, but Jay is a wiley vet, and Jake is coming back from a KO loss and gasses at times.

Jussier da Silva (14-1) +175 vs. John Dodson (13-5) -215 - A lot of hype coming in with da Silva, but i think i will be taking Dodson for 1 unit, maybe more.

Josh Neer (33-11-1) -285 vs. Justin Edwards (7-2) +225 - i think the only way the line moves is toward against Neer. i may take a little on him since he really should win this one.

Preliminary Card (FUEL TV)

Yves Edwards (41-18-1) +195 vs. Jeremy Stephens (20-8) -245 - interesting one. power of Stephens vs. technical of Edwards. i originally thought Edwards, but Yves is getting old and his chin isn't what it used to be. Stephens also has a little wrestling to use on occasion if he needs to. I would like to see Eve win, and i think the juice is too much for a solid bet on Stephens.i may wait to see where i am at and put a bet in then, most likely for stephens

Danny Castillo (14-4) +120 vs. Michael Johnson (11-5) -150 - lot of people loving Castillo here, so we're going against the "experts" we'll see, i think Johnson has the speed and prep to hopefully take this.

Shane Roller (11-6) +150 vs. Jacob Volkmann (14-3) -180 - everybody thinks Volkmann dominates. Roller has bounced back recently. Smart money probably says Volkmann, but only where it is or lower. For me, i may grab a little on Roller

Diego Nunes (17-3) -205 vs. Bart Palaszewski (36-15) +165 - funny thing is i liked diego nunes here, but i think i have been talked out of it. Begrudgingly taking Bart. I do think Bart wins it now, and am confident in it, but it isn't often that i change my mind on a fight the night before.

Phil Harris (21-9, 1 NC) +215 vs. Darren Uyenoyama (7-3) -275 - more of a bet based on the line, Uyenoyama shouldn't be that high of a favorite. .5 unit or so

Marcus LeVesseur (21-6) -115 vs. Carlo Prater (30-11-1) -115 - I got burned by LeVessuer bad before for him being a big dummy. Still i think he can win this one, as long as he doesn't get suckered into a sub. i think he will bounce back, unless he is a complete meathead and dumb as a rock

Mike Pierce (14-5) -170 vs. Aaron Simpson (12-3) +140 - Simpson could do lay and pray here, but ver doubtful. Pierce isn't exciting too much either, but Pierce should certainly be the play.

The thing with Edwards-Neer is that Neer got absolutely blasted last fight out, and i am not overly confident his chin can hold up to much anymore. Neer should destroy him, but at the odds i am just too nervous he gets one shot that comes in, or he gets so protective of it that he ends up being too defensive and gets taken downAnd Levesseur, i am tempted to bet twice what i would even think of betting on him to give him the opportunity to make my money back from that McKenzie fight

Strongest plays tonight?

I seem to be looking at two fighter parlays with some of the heavier favorites that I like and then straight shots with Bart, LeVesseur, Yves Edwards, Castillo, and Simpson....in that order of confidence.

Quick thoughts.

Yeah, Jussier is totally awesome, but after past disappointments, I'm wary of Brazilian dudes making their UFC debuts. Still likely to win handily.

Agree that LeVesseur was a doofus in the McKenzie fight, but he was mauling Cody before the submission. Prater is pretty meh.

Nunes/Bart isn't over yet, but I bet this one stings for 'Dogg.

PS. Mike Pierce is still obnoxious and boring.

Edit to avoid further hippling: Great, great fight by Nunes. Very gutsy in the third round, doing everything he could to finish the fight, even though he'd probably won the first two rounds.

I've cultivated a healthy disdain for Roller. Despite his technical skill, there are fights where it seems like he just doesn't show up. Can't see any scenario where I'd bet on him.

Two fights in a row where the guy who was dominated in the first round comes back with a brutal KO in the second. Wowwwwwwww. :boxing:

Johnson was way more aggressive in the 2nd round. Castillo may have been tired after the first, because he didn't mount any offense.
I cant believe he couldnt choke him out there when he has both arms trapped.I actually thought he shoulda let go of the choke and started raining down elbows and hammer fists

Anyone see the Bellator fight where the dude got DQ'ed for an axe kick to the nuts?

The ref came over to the 250 lb mountain of a man that got DQ'ed...

Ref "I am going to have to DQ you"

Fighter "I didnt mean to, I meant to kick him in the stomach"

Ref "I know you did"

Fighter "I am not a bad person"

Ref "I know your arent, you have been nothing but courteous since you got in the ring"

:lmao:

So rumor is Jeremy Stephens got arrested for an out-of-state felony charge and was being held without bail. Dana White said he was still gunna fight, and I'm not watching this live, but is this true or not? Because the play-by-play I'm reading never had his fight and I think the event is over.

I am crazy giving Bonnar even a small chance and for thinking +817 is a good bet? But I think it'll around +900 by fight time,

Yes, you are crazy. I can't even give Bonnar a punchers chance since he is so slow and has so little power. Silva will dummy him. Is it three or five rounds? I could possibly see Bonnar holding him down long enough to eek out a decision in a three round fight. Not a chance in five rounds.

I know it's a freakshow, but it's hard not to get excited after seeing the Forrest fight.
