UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (7 Viewers)

i  am baffled at the constant talk of how much of a bad ### Velasquez is, and how he wanted to fight this upcoming fight through everything. it seems like complete b.s. to me, and glad Rothwell is calling him on it:

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, was pulled from his UFC 207 showdown against Fabricio Werdum after Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) ruled him medically unfit to compete.

A diagnosis we probably should have seen coming from a mile month away.

That’s according to No. 5-ranked heavyweight contender Ben Rothwell, who accuses Velasquez of using the mixed martial arts (MMA) media to alert the sanctioning body to yet another laundry list of health issues and his controversial steps to address them.

Rothwell vents to inimitable Duane Finley at Flo Combat:

"People are also surprised Cain got pulled and that baffles me because it's not surprising at all. He started saying all that ##### in public knowing he's going to get pulled. Telling the commission you're doing marijuana to manage pain and your back surgery is already scheduled is a surefire way to tell them you're not fit to fight. But that's pretty convenient because now it doesn't look like Cain pulled out and it's the commission who wouldn't let him fight. Cain going public with all that ##### two weeks before a fight is evidence he didn't want to fight. Don't sit there and tell me you've been in this business for that many years and don't f*****g know how this works. You obviously needed them to pull you out of the fight."

UFC statement on that mess here.

It should be noted that Rothwell also insists Jetfire is cooler than Optimus Prime and, in words that I can barely bring myself to type, Mace Windu was a bigger badass than Yoda. The dude had a purple lightsaber, he was practically the Grimace of Jedi, so take anything “Big Ben” says with a grain of salt.

The streaking Rothwell (36-10) was likely one win away from securing a division title shot; however, Junior dos Santos outboxed him at UFC Croatia last April. The former IFL bruiser currently remains unbooked, even in the face of division turmoil.

Sean Shelby ... where you at?

I think Rousey will win. I think the media ban was just to allow her to focus on training.

I have no idea if her striking has improved or not, but it won't matter if she can get her hands on Nunez.

I'm hoping a BJJ black belt can defend arm bars.

Agreed. Cain went public so he wouldn't have to pull out.

Hard to blame the guy for wanting to get paid IMO. The UFC isn't going to get away with robbing these guys now after the price of the sale and what McGregor is making. He also deserves a title shot at the real belt and not some made up one.

:lmao:  Dana " I honor every contract no matter what it is"

Thanks for the laugh. If any of these ####### fighter's associations could get their #### together as one, they'd have a ####### field day with that comment.

IMO Rousey knows she has opportunities outside the octagon and is just doing this for one last obligation/paycheck.... at least that's the hope.

Every opportunity she has outside of the octagon was created inside of it and will dry up if there's no punchy mc-armsnap going on.   What's Gina Carano up to these days?

Pretty sure that I read that production was halted on all of the movies that she was cast in once they got a look at her "acting ability" -- if she's not a bada$$, then she has essentially zero Hollywood appeal. She's cute... for a girl who can probably kick your butt. Compared to even borderline film industry hot girls... :X .

I'm not surprised.  She is clearly very self conscious.

I don't think she's done, or even wants to be done fighting.  She loves this ####.  But unfortunately she began to believe the hype that she was invincible.  And while that is a great psychological advantage she benefited from greatly, once the illusion is shattered and the sense of vulnerability sets in, it's difficult to build up that armor again.  Even if she loses this fight I think she bounces back and continues to compete.

i actually agree with most of this ...i cant believe it either lol

Ronda would not be fighting someone as dangerous as Nunez if she didnt believe in her ability to beat her...i think all this guarded behavior is all part of her fight preparation...if shes acting different its because shes never lost like that before...i look at fighting like a job...the longer you fight the better you get...and when you have a really hard job and fail at it you just try harder the next time and learn from it..losing actually helps people in the long run...Conor McGregor is a better fighter since losing to Diaz

Very weird, his interaction with Helwani near the end was incredibly strange/cringey.

Rooting pretty hard for both Cruz and Nunes tonight. If Cruz can avoid the one big shot he should coast, the Rousey fight I could see going either way. Would be more fun to see what her reaction/future would hold if she loses though.

it is unbelievably frustrating the sports media and Fox Sports 1 put on crap for almost 24 hours straight, and a show like this can't get a 30-minute segment:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fk2UFPAU30

Hardy always adds something extra that most people never see. His comments at 10-12 minutes is great about how Dom steps up to Faber in his last fight to get his heart rate up and not let him rest during the 5 minute break. Great observation and good call

ETA: it's around 11:45

Yep watch these every fight and Hardy is the man.

I prefer Hardy and Stann to Rogan. But I am so glad Goldberg is done after tonight.

Not to cry over spilled milk but Cain really did keep this card from being one of the best of the year...on paper.

Did Rousey look thinner than usual yesterday or was it just me?

I'll be rooting for Ronda, Cody, and TJ in the big fights tonight.

Let's face it, when Ronda has the belt, wMMA is more interesting.  Also, I think it would be cool for her to avenge her loss.  I'd love to see her toss this chick to the mat and submit her.

Not a Cruz fan at all in the octagon.  That's great he had his moment after the long layoff (even though I think TJ beat him), it's just time for someone to knock him the #### out.  Would love for it to be Cody, a fellow Ohioan.

Is Jim Rome really the guy they are hiring to take over for Goldberg?

I've heard this rumor several times.

Yes!!! Magny!!! Score one for the judges!!!

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

#### off fatty. ##### thinks he can lay and pray. Magny was the only one working on the ground. Good luck at 185 fatty :lmao:  That'll be comical. For his sake, hope he retires.
