Okay....so I went to our annual draft slot luncheon today (actual draft is later this month). Beings that I had never been (and had been in this league for 7 years), I asked the commish why they didn't pick slots from the bottom up (12 teamer, going from 12 to 1). He and the other 3 owners there thought...wtf, might as well change it up a bit.

Bad idea...

There is an owner in our league that drafted LJ in the 9th rd last year, so thus under our rules, he qualified as a keeper for the 5th round this year. The moment I sat down, I said..."well someone had to bring you bad luck"......you guessed it.....the acehole ended up with the #1 pick!

I felt like I'd have to run for my life from the other owners! A couple were even complaining about playing since it seems to be inevitable that we are fighting for second place.

Anyways, just had to vent. Got home and still can't believe a team already has LJ/LT or LJ/SA.

This is why in a keeper league you should never random draw... not your fault... your commish runs the league, he should prepare for stuff like that...

Next year base the draft order on how teams finish... at the very least with worst going first...

Or, you can have a loser bowl.... for the non playoff teams to determine the first set of picks... with the playoff teams getting the bottom half of pics, SB winner getting 12, and so on down...

He could be pretty sick...

With all due respect, every owner in this league is at fault for letting LJ fall to the 9th round last year.Hell, I grabbed him in the 5th last year, and that was in a re-draft league.

Even if it's a keep 1 league, the first round of the draft should be based on last season's results. If at least 4-5 keepers, 2-3 rounds NFL-style draft, then revert to serpentine draft. If it's 10+ keepers, then probably do entire draft NFL style.

That's the way we did it in one of my keeper leagues... the non-playoff teams competing for next year's first draft pick. And the guy who won it had Larry Johnson on his roster.
