Ultimate Survivor - League 12 (1 Viewer)

Good writeups EBF.

I have to say I'm feeling a little (translated alot) worse about my QB's after Favre's plane landed in Wisconsin. Hook and I kept adding $1 to Rodgers, and I finally said "screw you Captain I'm getting him!". With only Rodgers, Alex Smith and Trent Edwards, that hard-headed spur-of-the-moment decision may haunt me.

I think the self-analysis by the guy who filled in for me at the auction was pretty much spot on. I gave him free rein to auction however he thought would be best, and just gave some recommendations about roster usage and the like for a league that doesn't have starting lineups. He kicked himself that the later QBs didn't go for as much as he expected when he paid what he did for Peyton. I'd have much rather had, say, Palmer and Big Ben for the price paid for Peyton by himself, and spent the extra money at WR. Though I do like Derek Anderson at what he cost.

He messed up his DT bye weeks and so took the third one after realizing it. That roster spot is going to come back to haunt the team as that only left Jamal and Watson as RBs for week 4 now that Torain is probably out then. Can't waste things like roster spots in this kind of format because of mistakes that didn't need to be made, and expect to advance. :tinfoilhat: WRs are ok but nothing special. The extra money spent at QB would have made for a nice upgrade, especially with the Steve Smith suspension.

Barring some miraculous scoring from unexpected places, I don't expect this team to make the 2nd leg. :coffee:

Pos Name Team Bye Salary

QB Tom Brady Patriots (NWE) 4 38

B-QB Brett Favre Free Agent (FA) 0 3

B-QB JaMarcus Russell Raiders (OAK) 5 2

I feel Good at QB. Maybe a few extra dollars for Brady, but with his consistency and ridiculous numbers last year, love having him. After everyone was done or gone, I was able to get Favre for 1$ God willing, he's a Jet or Viking by this time tomorrow night.

RB Edgerrin James Cardinals (ARI) 7 16

RB Chris Johnson Titans (TEN) 6 9

R/W/T Leon Washington Jets (NYJ) 5 5

B-RB Ray Rice Ravens (BAL) 10 1

B-RB Chris Perry Bengals (CIN) 8 1

B-RB DeAngelo Williams Panthers (CAR) 9 10

B-RB Carnell Williams Buccaneers (TAM) 10 1

B-RB Ahman Green Texans (HOU) 8 7

B-RB Dominic Rhodes Colts (IND) 4 1

B-RB Cedric Benson Free Agent (FA) 0 1

Obviously I'm weakest at RB. Edge seemed a decent bargain, and then I targeted Johnson and Washington for their pass catching abilities. It is PPR, afterall. Deangelo is in a battle to start, and Green should start. Benson and Caddy are just your usual last rounds desperation pick. Since it's bestball, I think the Combination of Johnson/Washington/Williams will come through huge for me.

WR Randy Moss Patriots (NWE) 4 49

WR Chad Johnson Bengals (CIN) 8 28

WR Roy Williams Lions (DET) 4 13

B-WR James Jones Packers (GNB) 8 3

Since it's PPR, I wanted to focus on getting 3 STUDS at Receiver. So, I started off by overpaying for Moss. Chad Johnson is Mr. Inconsistent and usually a slow starter, so that could end up biting me in the butt. I was told earlier in the offseason Roy Williams is going into a contract year. The talent's always been there, maybe finally the motivation?

DEF San Diego Chargers Chargers (SDG) 9 3

2nd best defense?

TE Alge Crumpler Titans (TEN) 6 6

This is my guy at TE this year. Maybe a tad bit of a homer pick, but Young got to the pros by running and dumping off to Tight ends and Running backs. Crumpler will be easily the best tight end Young has ever had. I expect one of Crumpler's best seasons.

K Adam Vinatieri Colts (IND) 4 1

B-K Jason Hanson Lions (DET) 4 1

B-K Jason Elam Falcons (ATL) 7 1

How do you save money in an auction league draft? You only spend 1$ on your kicker. Given it's only 5 weeks, and I drafted a guy on a 4th week bye, I wanted a backup...so without paying attention, I drafted another guy on a week 4 bye. So, I had to Grab a 3rd to cover it.

All in all, I feel good. Would love a Tomlinson or Peterson, but I think I've got a good shot.
Interesting what a couple weeks can do for a team. Chris Perry, Deangelo Williams, Ray Rice and Chris Johnaon all look like capable backs now for at least a few weeks.

So do we lose 2 teams this week?
I don't think it works like that. All 12 teams will play all 5 weeks. The top 4 teams will advance. I'm in 5th right now thanks to Willie Parker and Philip Rivers. The rest of my team is pretty ugly. It's going to be a battle to finish inside the top 4.

Rivers, Philip SDC QB 31.9

Gonna be tough down the stretch. I would say Buck has locked up a spot.

The other three spots are up for grabs. My team isn't that great, but a good week 1 and a great week 2 have kept me afloat so far.

I see some bye week problems for some of the contenders this week, so I'm hoping they'll suffer worse than me.

Or they could be the steals of your auction.... good job!!

The bye weeks will make things interesting for sure. I thought my RB's might carry me, but I think it has been a solid core of WR's who get me good points every week and the Tennessee defense.

My key was to get QB play, and Rodgers and Edwards have filled the bill.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks, Switz!

It looks like The Man With The Plan was given the wrong RB Steven Jackson, because the Rams player by that name is sitting on waivers.

You'll have to go in as commish and recalculate results for the first 3 weeks after his roster is fixed.

Sent an email to Clayton about it as well.

This league has been very competitive. Going into tonight's game, the six teams in the hunt for the four qualifying spots were:

buck naked - 38-6

EBF - 28-16

Andy Hicks - 28-16

Jeff Pasquino - 27-17

JaxBill - 27-17

Urlacher54 - 25-19

I think buck is in. He didn't have a great week five, but he had a huge lead going into the week and he should win enough games to clinch a spot.

I'm in by virtue of outscoring Hicks and Pasquino.

JaxBill is in by virtue of outscoring Hicks, Pasquino, and Urlacher.

I think Pasquino is out. He has the lowest week five score of these teams with little chance of improvement on Monday.

That leaves Urlacher and Hicks battling for the final spot. Hicks is leading and he has a three game advantage in the standings, but Urlacher could conceivably sneak in if he gets a monster game from Meachem and/or Longwell tomorrow.

So basically:

Buck Naked - IN

EBF - IN

JaxBill - IN

Hicks - Probably IN

Urlacher - Probably OUT

Pasquino - OUT

:towelwave:

Looks like I'm out. Just like my team and the end zone this week.

Oh well, it was a playoff game - and they didn't show up.

Good luck to those who move on.

Officially:

1. Buck Naked (40-15)

2. EBF (38-17)

3. JaxBill (38-17)

4. Andy Hicks (33-22)

Urlacher54 finished with the same record as Hicks, but Hicks gets the nod by virtue of total points.

Interestingly, the four teams that advanced were also the top four in total points.

I'm glad to be advancing. My team wasn't that great, but I got big games when I needed them. Isaac Bruce and Brandon Stokley saved me this week. On to the next round. :banned:
