I don't know if this has been discussed or not, on my phone right now, but with the NFL back in a lockout, are undrafted rookies able to sign with NFL teams?

Keep an eye where Derrick Locke signs. I really like his talent.
I can't believe it played out this way. He was a third round talent in many experts opinions, fourth by others-not undrafted. 4.2 speed isn't easy to find. I think he was SEC ST player of the year or 1st all SEC...he's not some unknown...ugh.I've been talking to people close to him (precious little to him) the last few days. I don't want to burn any bridges posting personal stuff. I hope he turns from feelng dejected to being excited at actually having a choice instead of being assigned a team. One family member insists it'll be the Raiders (Raiders and Texans did plenty of research on him) I'm telling them he should go back up CJ and Ringer.I saw previous post and I'm not sure if that signing stuff is correct for non-nfl players which these college athletes are.

As a UK fan, I really like Locke and he was a great college back for the Wildcats, but I don't think he has much of a future as a RB in the NFL. He is fast and small. He does not have the power or the ability to run between the tackles. Many assume he could be a 3rd down back, but he is one of the worst pass blockers in this rookie class, so there goes the 3rd downs. He could certainly have an impact in ST.

UDFAs can't sign. Nobody drafted can sign. No RFAs can sign. No UFAs can sign. NOBODY CAN SIGN. Period. It's been said over and over by the experts and the NFL. UDFAs are simply SOL right now.

You are correct, went and did some reading to be sure. Thanks

I thought Derrick Loche was the 9th best back in the draft. He could be a steal in rookie drafts.
that's what's weird about him.(I disagree re-Ingram but...) some had this draft with NO first rounders at all at RB some had just Ingram. Taking that in, that should have just meant Locke was drafted later. This was an odd draft with a number of players that I feel are third down backs. I don't think many teams use a third down back in a Faulk like sense but instead use a back (capable of replacing the starter) on third downs to give the starter a breather. It's hard to word. Brandon Jacobs was nothing like Kevin Faulk, yet he played on third down some when Tiki was the starter as did Derrick Ward. I suppose BB could have drafted a new younger version of Faulk, but do teams even want that role player anymore?Previously, Ryan stated that he didn't like Locke between the tackles. If we roll with that, Locke wouldn't be asked to run between the tackles much in a Kevin Faulk role, but he sure would be asked to catch little screen/dump passes and to use his speed to scoot outside. There's no doubt Locke can do that and do it well. There's no doubt he was one of the best return men in college the last couple years, but are teams drafting guys that just do returns? I think some team needs to believe Locke can fill a role for them and then he'll succeed. I have doubts with him being used to replace an injured Marion Barber or Frank Gore or MJD or somesuch. In a role, he'd be fine if not excel IMO.He's a tough SOB with (phrase I heard lately) excellent thick thighs. I don't know if an NFL coach can turn him into a between the tackles runner or if he was used as such enough at Kentucky.Tampa did pretty well with an undrafted free agent rookie RB in 2010. Locke's NFL chances are far from over.
