Upgrade Colston? (1 Viewer)

Curious as to see what is going to happen with Marques Colston. I know Brees looked absolutely terrible last night, but I have to think Colston's value rises w/o Deuce - thats assuming Brees can break out of his funk and just play mediocre. Bush obviously gets the biggest upgrade, but I don't expect Payton to make him shoulder 25+ carries a game. He's already had 8,10, and 8 targets in the first three games, respectively...I see double-digit targets from here on out.

And no, I'm not an owner...I'm thinking about trying to acquire him though. Any thoughts?

The bye week couldn't have come early enough for them. I'm not sure what the injury does to Colston, but I'm hoping the bye week gives them a chance to get that offense working better.

I would agree, they tried to go to colston deep a few times lastnight, just didnt really connect.

I wouldnt be suprised to see NO go 4 WR set a lot more. They hardly ran when they had power back in the backfield, I dont see why they would run more without one.

Face it the Saints suk. Colston will be double teamed from now on. Colts,Buc's. and Tenn are not that great in defense.

Have to remember most DT's are just starting to get it together now..week1-3 should be easy..only getting worst for Saints now!

Deuce wasn't your quarterback... I don't see it helping him at all. Bush yes, Colston none.
So losing your 'grind it out, between the tackle' runner isn't going to affect Colston at all? Stecker is nothing but a 3DRB as well.
Well against the Titans last night Deuce was horrible. Bush was the only runner I feared. I would think Bush is more dangerous. Deuce was not successful at all. No one is giving Titans many props on defense, choosing instead to say its the saints stinking or Bree's fault. So, I am saying, that Bree's couldn't hit Colston before, why will he now?

Well my simple argument is that w/o Deuce, where will his 15/20 carries a game go? I don't see Bush accounting for more than 15-20 carries, and Stecker...between the 5-10 range....IMHO, Brees will have to air it out a little more than before. Whether or not he can pull his head out of his a-- after the bye week is the question. I have to admit though, after MNF I was pretty impressed by Lance Moore - could have a decent production if Devery's hammy stays tweaked.

Deuce was getting less than 10 carries a game.

2 things are affecting Colston... and that is the play calling in New Orleans and the play of Colston.

Whats funny as every game the announcers bring up Brees downfield accuracy and how bad he is on short passes, yet the saints continue to dink and dunk... and the few times they do go down field Colston doesn't seem to be consistently adjusting to the ball and seemed to give up on a few of the passes.

I think Colston is a talent but maybe isn't playing to his full pontential, his route running seems to have suffered since last year...

Deuce or not, they have Bush, they have Steckler... the big issue is bad play calling and poor play on Colston...

Losing a proven north-south runner like Deuce, whose talent you still had to respect defensively whenever he was on the field, makes the Saints that much more one-dimensional in their offensive attack. Thus making opposing Ds that much more able to focus on shutting down the pass.

Bush COULD be an every-down back, though I think his talents worked better in tandem with the more bruising style of Deuce. Stecker does not bring that kind of attack to the table, so opposing LBs can cheat and help in coverage on Colston and the other receivers.

Bottom line -- losing Deuce is not going to help Colston.
