Urban Meyer to be Ohio State coach? (1 Viewer)

ESPN is finally reporting the Urban to Ohio State story
Yes, reporting that earlier today Meyer denied stories written by Buckeyes blog Eleven Warriors that he going there. It is confirmed they have contacted him.http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2011/11/19/2574179/urban-meyer-ohio-state-reports-rumors-news-espnEdit to add: Also denied reports by another blogger that half of ESPN's broadcasters will be joining him! LOL!"Urban, I just want to ask you, there have been reports indicating that you have accepted the Ohio State head coaching position," Pasch said.Urban replied quickly and emphatically."Well there's no truth to that," Meyer said of the rumors. "I know it's that time of year, but I have not been offered any job and I have certainly not accepted any job."This probably won't stop the rampant rumors from circulating until the Ohio State head coaching position is filled on a permanent basis. For those claiming it isn't true, however, at least there's now a public denial on the record from Meyer.
Wasn't much of a denial. Said he hasn't been offered the job and the rumor that he has already agreed to be the coach is untrue. Obviously semantics.I actually believe the rumors but don't think that there is anything official yet. But there could be some general understandings in place that the job is his with some parameters as far as salary and assistant coach salaries, etc. Also, anyone who thinks OSU is looking at major NCAA violations hasn't been paying attention at all. They recently made a recommendation that the punishment stemming from the joint OSU/NCCA investigation be 5 scholarships lost total over 5 years (2 per year the first 2 years, 1 the 3rd). They aren't going to propose something so small on a joint investigation without a pretty good idea that it's basically acceptable to the NCAA.
First, regarding Meyer, OSU is also denying the reports that Meyer has been offered the job. So everyone involved is denying the report, except your guy.Chris Speilman was quoted today as saying he and Meyer were both in Bible study together two days ago, and that was the first either had heard of any of it. And that it was just a rumor. And regarding NCAA penalties, OSU has been low balling the penalties since this all started. First was a self imposed suspension of some players. Then more players. Then more games. Then they fired the coach to avoid the appearance of a loss of institutional control. OSU is the poster child for corruption in college football right now. Along with Miami. There has been violations going clear back to last year (including Pryor pledging to miss games this year before skipping to the NFL) and have continued throughout the investigation with OSU trying to mislead the NCAA. To think they are not looking at a loss of scholarships over a period of time is ridiculously naive. Go back to the OSU message boards. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. I hear it runs through Columbus too.http://www.ghanamma.com/2011/11/meyer-ohio-st-job-hasnt-been-offered-ap/
De-Nile looking pretty nice this time of year.
