Rafael Honigstein (paraphrasing): "I just left Dortmund. For all intents and purposes, they aren't selling Pulisic. They'd have to be blown away, which they haven't been. May go out on loan because of the depth, but more likely he remains on the squad because Tuchel rotates and believes in him."

So... Either 20M doesnt blow them away or that offer was BS?

Really hope this opens the door for Nagbe to play the #10 role. No excuse for him not to play with Dempsey out, Bradley Suspended and Germany still hobbled.

Lots of potentially interesting lineups.

Liverpool have made an £11m offer for Christian Pulisic, Borussia Dortmund's 17-year-old winger.
huh... interesting. don't think he's beating out cuteypieinho any time soon.... or do I have cutey's position wrong?

other stuff..

Earlier this week, German outlet BILD reported that Stoke City had offered 20 million euros for the American youngster. However, Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl says that’s untrue and a bid was never officially submitted.

On the other hand, Wahl reports that Red Bull Leipzig in the Bundesliga is lining up a 15 million euro offer for Pulisic before the transfer window closes. He also heard from a source close to the player that there’s a 50/50 chance of him leaving the German giants before the window shuts.

Wahl also reports that Pulisic turned down a contract extension from Dortmund earlier this year and would do so again if offered one now. He is apparently disappointed in the mass additions of attacking players this summer and wants to play as much as he can.

and loved this:

isn't that already his current role? and for a CL level club? unless there's something else afoot, I don't really get it.
I don't think any one is sure what his role is this year.  The amount of players they brought in appears to have knocked him well down the pecking order.

He does not appear to be even making the roster of some games.  He is getting time to play only when Dortmund schedules 2 games in 2 days and he plays in the less important of the two games.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out but I think he is going to need some injuries to pop up to get time.

And I agree that he does not really improve his situation by moving to Liverpool.  I think Liverpool has less depth at his position than Dortmund does but I think Dortmund understands how to handle these young kids really well and make sure they keep playing in their youth teams instead of dying on a bench at the top team.

He has some history with Klopp, correct? Who knows how much interaction he had with Klopp as a 15-16 year old, but there must have been some with his quick progression.

Edit: teh googles tell me that is correct and there were a bunch of April stories on how Klopp wanted Pulisic monitored.  With Pulisic not signing an extension with Dortmund, I wouldn't be shocked if this is what he and Klopp want.

Not a major story, but Benfica signed 16yr old Union academy and USYNT GK CJ Dos Santos.

I don't really know anything about him, but there's some potential solidarity karma down the road for Bedoya

Ted do you understand why Philly is being sued for the solidarity payment for the Bedoya transfer?  I was under the impression that it is the team that receives the fee should pass it on, not the team that pays the fee.

Bacon started yesterday for Werder vs Bayern.  Green made the bench but did not play for Bayern who showed their typical early season rust by struggling to a 6-0 win.

Not really but I did read somewhere that while it comes out of the fee that goes to the selling team, the paying team may be responsible for calculating it.  Not saying that's why the team is suing MLS/Union.  Probably just because USSF/MLS hasn't traditionally participated in training comp/solidarity.

The game is already over but CCV made the bench again for Spurs.

I hope he gets some PT some time soon in PL blowouts or cup ties.

I think it is the responsibility of the team that pays the transfer fee.  That is what started the issue when Spurs bought Yedlin - they did not know what to do with the solidarity payments, and MLS demanded the entire amount.

Comments

* 26 players but as expected, Jones was called in even though he reportedly is still hurt and did not dress for his most recent game

* Caleb Stanko has never been capped by the US

* Omar must feel like a yo-yo, alternating between being dropped and recalled almost every time the US gets back together

* The Wondo era refuses to die :)

* Very disappointed that Kitchen did not get a call over Beckerman but I guess JK wants to squeeze one last run out of dreads.

Can someone update me on Stanko? Never heard of him.
Here is a thumbnail sketch

* Born and raised in Michigan

* Went to Germany as an 18 year old and signed with Frieberg.

* Has mostly played for Frieberg 2 with just a handful of appearances for the first team

* Was part of the US U20 club

* This year he was loaned to a Lichtenstein club that plays in the Swiss first division

I have never seen him play a pro game.  And I only remember a little from his U20 days.

I am unsure what he brings that more established pros like Morales, Williams and Kitchen don't.

Stanko was a key member for Freiburg as the 6 when they were promoted a few seasons ago. He looked set to get a bunch of BL1 experience and promptly had a major injury.  Klinsy is going to kill me with this Acosta at fullback ####.

When you say Freiberg, do you mean Freiberg 2 (Freiberg's reserves)?

Freiberg (the main club) was in the Bundesliga for 6 straight season until they dropped to Bundesliga 2 after the 2014/2105 season.  They were promoted back up at the end of the 2015/2016 season just a couple of months ago.

Stanko, from what I can tell, only played for them 5 times last season and in 4 of those games he played 15 minutes or less.

Have we ever had a Wood/Altidore pairing?
I was wondering about this today.

Wood has played 24 times already for the US (more times than I remembered) so they likely have played at least a little together.  Whether they ever started a game together I am unsure.

I don't like the sound of this at all.  Hopefully this is just speculation on the authors part and not a real source.  Miazga staying at Chelsea would suck this year

=====================

Kenedy and U.S. national team center back Matt Miazga are expected to leave Chelsea on loan but they remain part of the club's contingency plans if the Blues fail to sign any defenders this summer, Goal UK understands.

Watford's season-long loan offer for Kenedy remains on the table while Miazga has two offers from unnamed Premier League clubs, but Antonio Conte has decided to delay their departures after initially instructing them to find moves away from Stamford Bridge.
