US Men's National Team (11 Viewers)

I don't like the sound of this at all.  Hopefully this is just speculation on the authors part and not a real source.  Miazga staying at Chelsea would suck this year

=====================

Kenedy and U.S. national team center back Matt Miazga are expected to leave Chelsea on loan but they remain part of the club's contingency plans if the Blues fail to sign any defenders this summer, Goal UK understands.

Watford's season-long loan offer for Kenedy remains on the table while Miazga has two offers from unnamed Premier League clubs, but Antonio Conte has decided to delay their departures after initially instructing them to find moves away from Stamford Bridge.

There are Zouma to Schalke rumors out there with Alonso (fullback from Fiorentina) coming in.  Maybe Conte likes Miazga?

Maybe Conte likes Miazga?
I don't think Miazga played a single minute for Conte in the preseason, even in games where they had a ton of subs being played in the US where playing your token American is usually the PR move for the team.

If Conte likes him, that is obviously great but the evidence is lacking for me.

Either way, I just want Miazga to get some time.

Brooks out with a back injury.  Sasha called in.

Will we EVER see our full first team on the field? When's the last time everyone was healthy at one time?

wow, what an odd change.....

I mean Sacha deserves to be called but you would think a CB would be called instead...In a way I think this replacement is more for Jones than Brooks.

Shame about Brooks, I was really hoping to see the Yedlin Cam Brooks Fab back line get more playing time together before the hex.

Besler should slide into the LCB role fairly easily I think.

Have we ever had a Wood/Altidore pairing?
I found the answer for you

(amount played together in parentheses, * indicates they started together)
Bosnia/Herz 2013 (5m)
Ecuador 2014 (54m)
Honduras 2014 (27m)
Colombia 2014 (24m)
Ireland 2014 (45m)
*Chile 2015 (45m)
*Peru 2015 (70m)
Brazil 2015 (11m)
*SVG 2015 (67m)
T&T 2015 (16m)

Also, Wood's come on twice in place of Jozy (never the opposite):
Mexico 2015 (Concacaf Cup)
Costa Rica 2015 (friendly a couple days after Concacaf Cup)

Only two days left, and this saga will finally (hopefully) be over. The best scenario would be with a PL side that will actually play him. That seems very difficult at this point, so I'm thinking we'd have to be happy with a Championship loan or a year someplace like Germany or Holland. Last resort is the CFC U23 team with the odd call-up to the big boys here and there if/when needed.

I know it won't happen but I would enjoy seeing JK run out a 4-3-3 where we went with an all Bundesliga front 3 of:

Pulisic..................Wood........................Fab

Where Pulisic and Fab switch sides at will during the game (which as our most two footed players they could pull off).

I don't think I have ever heard this reasoning for being one footed.  Morris might be stretching here :)

================================

Can he really become that true American star while favoring one foot? The no-left-foot trope is raised often on Twitter, Morris said, and there have been times when he has struggled not to aggressively explain that he is, in fact, pigeon-toed — his feet naturally point inward instead of straight ahead — which makes it more natural for him to flick the ball with the outside of his right foot than open his hips to play with the inside of his left.

This might not help Little Gucci, but it can't hurt I guess.

Sunderland just loaned out Jermaine Lens to Fenerbache.

They don't play the same positions but one less body on the midfield roster can't hurt Lynden's chances at PT when players come back from injury.

The kids and I are going to the game in Jax.  I'm pretty excited, but my kids are beyond excited.  Sitting in the AO section, so I expect it to be a blast.  But, I heard they have sold only about 20k tickets and last time they were in Jax there was 40k.

After all the speculation, JK gave an interview yesterday where he said the English FA never contacted him.

"My message since I took over this role, since five years ago, to all of them -- if it's clubs or countries -- is, 'I'm very, very privileged to have this role, and I feel very honored, and I will respect my contract which goes until Russia [at the 2018 World Cup] and then we will see."-- U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, saying the English FA never contacted him  this summer about taking over as England coach.

The weather report for the first qualifier on Friday is listing in the 90's and heavy thunder storms.

This game, which was already expected to be ugly, could be near unwatchable from an estetic point of view.

Hopefully the US can bang one in early and quickly put the game away.

Waiting to find out they left the tarp off the field during these tropical storms.

Sure they never contacted JK directly, but I'm sure the England FA had their people inquire with JK's people.  That's the old coach doublespeak that we all know and love.

I agree.   Even JK himself likely pushed along these rumors (for what ever reason) in letting Herzog do his public speaking to drop hints etc.

woof.

hopefully it's just hot and not pouring rain... already going to be hard enough for the US to exert ball-control on that field/runway, even if dry.

Looks like the Wilshere loan deal wheel has stopped at Bournemouth, which can't be good for Emmy Hyndman (at least not for the 10 games where Jack can stay healthy).
I forget- is Hyndman a box-to-box guy, or holding?

I could be off-base here, but I think of Iron Jack as a more attacking player, and Hyndman as either holding or box-to-box. I guess what I'm thinking is, there may be room on the field for both of them, depending on bournemouth's tactical formation.

Hyndman is an 8.  It is true that Jack may be better suited to being a 10 (at Arsenal he played as an 8, a 10, and sometimes at RAM).

I really don't see Bournemouth having much use for a dedicated playmaker.  They might play 3 CMs, but I think it would be in a pretty structured 4-5-1 setup where everyone contributes defensively.   Andrew Surman seems to play every game as the DM, which means you get 2 CMs.  Harry Arter had some injuries last year, but is a full Irish international who is probably also ahead of Emmy.  Lewis Cook was the Football League Young Player of the Year for Leeds which is probably equivalent to Emmy's on again/off again Championship record.  So my guess is that the arrival of Jack would probably move Emmy into a competition with Cook to be the first reserve CM instead of that being a competition to be a starter.

Also two of Bournemouth's best players (Callum Wilson and Joshua King) are strikers, so it's not out of the question for them to play 4-4-2.

Strange story.  Multiple sources reported the Dom was off to Wolverhampton on a transfer but KC just put out a press release saying their is no truth to it.  Looks like Dwyer was having some fun too with the instagram post:

=================================

The English striker was linked on Wednesday morning to Wolverhampton, with at least one outlet reporting that SKC had accepted a transfer bid from the English Championship club for the 26-year-old.

Dwyer poured a bit of fuel on the fire shortly after the report initially surfaced, posting a photo to his Instagram account of him standing on a tarmac in front of a British Airways jet with a caption indicating he was about to take off.

An SKC spokesperson shot down the rumors later on Wednesday, however, telling MLSsoccer.com that Dwyer was at SKC training in the morning and won’t be headed to Wolves before the English transfer window closes later tonight. The spokesperson said that Dwyer used an old photo in his Instagram post.
