US Men's National Team (13 Viewers)

Gotta give ELS some credit. They aren't bunkering. They have some good passing that's easy on the eyes. And they've been about a 3/10 on the CONCACAF scale.

Acosta just immediately bringing some sort of spacing and balance to the midfield.  Weston-Acosta-Adams is obviously a pet project of mine, but they just seem to fit together right.

did you watch them at all in the GC...pretty consistent with that. but playing worse. and yet they've still turned the tide a bit here.

genuinely not clear how the US is trying to attack tonight. and they've been gifted a lot of opportunities to create attacks in the opposing third.

I really appreciate the 4d Chess GGG is playing at RB, probably the deepest spot in our player pool, and Berhalter is shoehorning a bottom of the pool mid there to try to convince Julian Araujo to pick the US.

how are the US players so sloppy on the ball tonight.

yuck.

that ElS defensive pretty poor. US keeps giving the ball away.

Just a sloppy uninspired performance.

Away in concacaf is tough but this is still tough to watch,  given the talent advantage

anybody clear on what the US were trying to do on attack tonight?

I have no clue.

that was lost points against a not good team.

I'm not unhappy with the result, we'll destroy these guys at home, but the formation changes seemed willy-nilly and mostly didn't work.

And the players were sloppy AF.

Every one seems bummed that Mexico scored and I guess that is our general mind set but taking out the rivalry we want Mexico to win every game they don't play against us.  Every win they have as the group favorite should theoretically make life easier for the US.

did anybody step up tonight?

nice to see Adams, and he was ok. didn't like the weight of his floated cross field passes that allowed els defenders to set up, but at least he was hitting them.

swag had his moments, but indecisive in the final third.

ream and robo were fine.

but none of that is exactly stepping up.

otherwise...bleh

whoa...els with the edge in possession

I thought both Weston and Gio had poor games.  With out Pulisic, we needed some one to step up.

Pulisic has to be chomping at the bit to play on Sunday.

That was pretty frustrating.  We are miles better than that team and even though an away point in CONCACAF is always good it still feels like a let down.  Credit Hugo and ELS for doing what they needed to keep the US out of the net.

I get that they're trying to save CP's legs/lungs, but a 20 minutes cameo from him tonight and I feel he finds a way for the US to put it in the net.  Hopefully the payoff against Canada and Honduras makes up for it.

Adams was the best player for the US. Good, steady presence. Provided good cover.

That said, when your #6 is the MOTM without an assist or goal or a goal saving play, you haven't played well as a team.

Simply not good enough.  The first half was a mess of formation and that’s on GGG.
they were a mess. and you're right- looked unprepared and unclear of what they were supposed to be doing or where they were supposed to be playing.

but the players were collectively a mess on the ball too.

that they played this out of sorts and still came away with the tie speaks volumes to me of how poor els is and how wasted this opportunity to get an away win was.
