Usain Bolt (1 Viewer)

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello revealed to Profootballtalk.com that Jamaican runner Usain Bolt would not be eligible to sign with any team as a free agent. He'd have to declare for the NFL Draft. "If an individual calls us and wants to know if he is eligible for the draft, we ask him a series of questions," Aiello said. "When did he graduate from high school? Did he attend college? Have Usain give us a call." Thanks to Maurice Clarett, Bolt would need three years to pass since he graduated high school to be eligible. His split time in the 40 yards is 3.5, but Bolt is only 6'5/190. Adrian Wilson would probably love to see him go across the middle.

iirc, tv commentators said he is isn't fond of America. So much he and other Jamaicans were unwilling to train across the Caribbean.

Not sure why he would want to. He's going to make millions in endorsements already so it's not like he won't be able to live comfortably. And he can do it without getting his brains based in.

even if he has no intention of playing, i think it would be cool to see him line up at a training camp or OTA. It would be interesting to see just how fast he really is against, say Champ Bailey or another elite CB

I remember a very interesting story about Renaldo. he said that they did so little running in training camp and practice, that he lost some speed, and would do extra running after practice to keep his speed. It always made sense to me, and I often wonder if teams weren't missing the boat by not concentrating more on speed training for their skill position players.

Not because they don't like it, it's because of the lack of drug testing policies they have in Jamaica, over here they would get busted.

The 3.5 number is a joke. The number that was reported as closer to the truth was 4.3. He has incredible top end speed, but his acceleration is just great. Watch his races, he doesn't pull away from the field until they hit top speed....well after yard #40.

At which point, he's 6'5" 190lbs. with a 4.3 40 time and no football experience.

How is that any different than Matt Jones, other than having no football experience at all rather than just having no experience at WR like Jones?

No. There's a difference in running track and running while playing football or even basketball. If he runs a 3.5 or any number on the track in tights, it wont be the same on a football field with heavier cleats, pads and a bunch guys trying to take your knees out.

This same nonsense came up about Justin Gatlin. He tried out, was fast but sucked. This is a non-story in my book.
