Use Gut or Line-up Dominator for tough decisions? (1 Viewer)

So last week I had some tough decisions, PPR league

QB Ryan, Cassel and Alex Smith at RB (start 1)

WR Marshall, Colston, Bowe, Amendola and Mason (start 3)

So all week I had Cassel and Bowe in my line up since they were playing Houston's horrendous pass D. It was an important game (either pull to .500 or go 2-4) I decided to use the Line-up dominator's recommendation and started Armendola over Bowe and Ryan over Cassell, well I wound up losing by 11 points, had I started just one of those two guys I would have won.

I won't bore you with the details but lost the week before using LDs recommendation.

My question is do you guys go with gut or the more scientific approach (such as LD) when making tough calls

Go with what you think is best. Don't let these things control the game for you. They're suggestions, not definitive answers on what's going to happen.

I really would have started Bowe. Against that Texans defense, that was a no-brainer.

LD is just an important tool to inform you in your decision-making. It does not make the decisions for you.

I don't think Bowe was a no-brainer, considering a couple of 2 and 3 catch games.

That being said, I played the matchup and played Bowe, with not much confidence and over some other chance-y players.

The Lineup Dominator and weekly rankings are not really rankings. They are based purely on projections, with no consideration to floor or ceiling of a player. If a player gets a TD, he might jump up 10 projection spots. If a player gets 1 more catch, maybe up or down a few projection spots in PPR.

I think you can use the Projections/Line-Up Dominator as a guide. If you see a player in the top 10 or 20 players, they are probably a good play. If they are down in the 100s, probably not so good. Then you have to check matchups. Then looking at your roster, determine if you want to take a chance with your RB2/WR2 or flex.

always go with what you think is best, its easy to use something else so you can try and place blame on other things but in the end its all on you. For example this past weekend I asked for ppls thoughts on my QBs, a few ppl said start Schaub, one said start Matty Ice and I switched multiple times during the week and before kickoff before finally going with my gut and starting Kolb, this week I was right, next time who knows. In the end its your team, these other people/tools wont be getting the "W" or "L" so make your own decisions.

PLEASE change your subtitle

And it is YOUR team, YOU make the decisions

Not sure why you thought about it decided to play KC against the terrible Houston defense and then changed your mind for some reason and want to blame someonesomething else.
