Using OLine in fantasy leagues (1 Viewer)

Was wondering if anyone used Offensive Lineman as another position in their fantasy leagues. Im not sure you could use individual lineman as there's no way of really scoring them. However, using an offensive line unit is a possibility (rushing yards, sacks given up, etc.) Im the commish of two leagues and am always looking for ways to make it better. If anyone does, what kind of scoring do you use?

TIA

We use OL's in our league. Like the above posts allude to, sacks allowed and rushing yards are the main components of scoring, but we also give points for offensive TD's. The highest scoring OL for us last year scored 987 pts. (surprise-it was SD) and the lowest scored 440 pts. (again, surprise- it was Oakland). This also gives us one more way to keep our first couple of rounds from being RB heavy in the draft. The O-line is very valuable.

In my long-time redraft league (the Heartland Football League, since 1989), we use OL's as a brake on positive scoring - the league is designed to mirror NFL scoring in a week-to-week head-to-head format, so we build in negatives at various postions (-2 for interceptions thrown or fumbles lost, -3 for interceptions returned for TDs or fumbles returned for a TD, for example - TDs scored by an offensive player are worth 3 points) - with OL's the idea is to draft the OL that hits your team for the least negative scores in a season. Of late, that has been Indianapolis OL year in and year out. In this league, OL scoring is as follows: -1 pt for every sack allowed, with a +1 for any game in which total rushing yardage is 135 or more. The OL's usually score 0 pts or less each week, with an occassional +1 pt. Usually, the top OL units get drafted around the same time as the top D/ST unit (mid-rounds in a 12 team, 18 round draft). My .02.

:eek: 987 and 440? Tomlinson scored 427 last year. I'm gonna guess I'm just missing something and it's not that OLs are the first 12 picks of your draft.Help me out here. :no:

Our scoring is non-standard:Top QB scores over 1200- top 30 averages about 50 pts./gmTop OL scores around 850- top 30 averages about 40 pts./gm (SD was unusual this past year)Top RB scores around 550-600- top 30 averages about 30 pts./gmTop WR scores around 550-600- top 30 averages about 30 pts./gmIDP's and special teams score similiarly to WR/RB's.Hope this helps the confusion

I use individual OLmen in two leagues.

He's the scoring system we use in both.

Total Points * 0.3

Total Offesive Yards * 0.036

Total Sacks Allowed * -1.5

A good Score is 25

A great score is 30

ex.

30 points= 9

320 yards= 11.52

2 sacks allowed= -3

Score= 17.52

ex.

28 points= 8.4

430 yards= 15.48

0 sacks= 0

Score= 23.88

One league we can use any combo of OL and in another we have to start 2 OT's 2 OG's and an OC.

Love it!!!!!

Interesting. This is the only thing I have seen that goes beyong anything more than a token attempt at incorporating O-Line. It still is linked to team output but is better than what most use. Are you limited to starting OL? I mean, can you draft the 3rd string G from a great Offensive team?

Team OLine in one of my leagues. You get negative points for each sack given up and that's it. So the best score and Oline can get you is 0. :shrug:

I was once in a league almost exactly like this. I loved it as well. Anything that can add to the strategy of building a team.It's fun to do a rookie draft when you need to also know what O linemen to draft as well. I believe I drafted Gallery with my 3rd pick one year. :lmao: But when I made the selection it was looked at as a good pick.

The players have to have started in the game.

We use the NFL gamebook to determine who started so you have to be up on injuries and the like.

If u go to <www.EFsports.com> they have full O-line scoring...Actually they have scoring for every position including punters

and full IDP as well.

Wouldn't it be fun if Individual Offensive Linemen could be rated on

Percentage of plays assigned IDP did not make tackle/sack

Opened Hole for RB

Picked up Blitz

Offsides & Holding

Saved Turnover
