Using toothpaste to clean headlights? (1 Viewer)

I need to clean my headlights as the oxidation on them is getting bad. I heard that toothpaste would work in cleaning them.

Has anyone ever used toothpaste to clean headlights?

If not, what products would you suggest?

TIA

Actually did this on an old car my daughter drives now. Worked fine. Not sure the gel type would work but I used Arm and Hammer toothpaste since we had it. Turtle Wax makes a really good product if you don't want to go the toothpaste route.

It's just any mild abrasive - use straight baking soda mixed with a little water. The abrasive basically polishes the plastic. No need to spend $ on toothpaste. Works faster/better if you have an orbital and a foam pad too.

:lmao: What's that like $1-$4? Not to mention, one would hope he already has it on hand.

A BOX of baking soda is $0.89 and will probably make enough paste to do 20+ headlights, and most everyone has baking soda lying around. Heck, you can even use the old stinky box that you've had in your fridge for years.

Most everyone also has toothpast lying around as well. In any case, Im not trying to argue, I just found the comment funny.

And if you have Arm and Hammer toothpaste lying around you'll think of any reason to use it outside your mouth.
