@valebrity is a username (and website) that actually validates celebrities of all types...but most of the people I have found were based on reading somewhere that they use twitter and it had a reference to their username.

Most teams have official twitter feed, and there are unofficial news feeds for each team set up that are pretty good. If you just look through who I'm following, you find a lot of those.

I'll add more as I have time and remember them. A lot of beat writers are just now showing up on Twitter. You get a good feel quickly who uses it well and who just uses it to link to their content elsewhere.

I'll say, I scoffed at the Twitter. I even told Faletti I thought it was a ridiculous fad while we were making this season of Draftguys TV. And I still think the "just landed at JFK" "mmm latte is good" "I hate traffic" posts are terrible. But for getting up to the minute news, cool links, direct access to people that is more immediate and unfettered than email, Twitter is terrific. We are posting numerous scoops every day on the FBG newswire that come from trusted sources on Twitter before they could ever publish anything on their own site (the micro-blogging aspect). Lots of beat writers are doing Twitter only mailbags and chats, and since it is still not THAT big, chances are your question will be answer (Ralph Vacchiano answered both of my questions in his last mailbag column). Players will have open Q & A sessions.

Honestly I was in the same boat regarding Twitter but it seems custom made for the little things us fantasy guys are curious about that happen in the NFL world, especially during training camp. had to delete him as well ...... the 3am "Anybody awake " updates were too annoying..but the final straw was..I actuaclly got in on bad terms with the woman when my txts were going off like crazy in the middle of some good loving... after the 5th txt in like 10 minutes time i was told that I better answer it , it could be important.... only to see it was Estaban OchoCInco just saying dumb stuff.............. he was deleted after that.

To anyone....how many of these guys do you get texts from? Or better yet, WHO, if you narrowed down to a few of the very best sources? I'm looking to not overload my phone with NFL tweets this fall (seems like that could get really out of control), but I definitely want a couple of the best that will be breaking news quickly.

edit: I guess Bloom's "make sure to follow" list is a good start. But I bet you could weed a few of them off and add a few others in.

PFT usually covers everything. If you follow all of those, then odds are your going to be getting the same tweets multiple times.

On a lot of stuff, yeah, but PFT does NOT cover everything. Big news, yeah, but not on little things that might be important to fantasy owners (KO returners, who is lining up at 3rd WR, etc.)To answer the question everyone is asking ("Do I want all of these?"):

It's pretty new, and this is the first year we have TC updates. So, no one really knows the answer to that yet. You will get a feel for it, and know which ones to remove, and which ones are helpful. There's going to be a bit of trial and error.

Examples:

Rich Eisen/Warren Sapp/OchoCinco/--------I removed. Eisen ain't breaking any news. A lot of these guys are just jabbering back and forth over some pretty boring stuff. There's a little bit of voyeur thing going on at first (Wow, I am eavesdropping on a conversation between Warren Sapp and Kirk Morrison!!), but then you realize that reading other people's texts is pretty boring. Plus, I can't understand half of what Sapp and Chad are yapping about.

However, there is gold there. The beat writers for the Cowboys, Bears, and Raiders all seem to refrain from carrying on conversations, and just dropping eyewitness blurbs, just from the ones that I have seen.

Here's a good rule of thumb: The older the Tweeter, the less likely you are to get inane chatter. The cranky old writers are Tweeting, but ain't happy about it, so they just drop good info. Peter King is a notable exception, but that's cause he thinks we are all interested in what was in his latte this morning. He is pretty removable too, actually.

The easy way is to go to Blooms page, then check who he is following. Just click on each for you to follow. Should take 2-3 minutes tops.

i get tweet texts from Bob Glauber, PFT, Bloom, Adam Schefter, Adam Caplan, Greg Rosenthal.i follow a shyte ton more, including the beat writers listed above, but Bloom is pretty good about retweeting the important tweets (like Peters today) so I get them all the same.
