okBuchanan said she and her husband had taken off their shirts to keep their clothes from getting dusty while they worked in their garage in late 2017 or early 2018.
Im guessing there is more to this story. The children’s mother, who was not present during the incident, reported it to authorities after the Division of Child and Family Services began an investigation about the children that was unrelated to Buchanan
West Valley City Deputy Attorney Corey Sherwin offers a different account in court papers: He alleges that Buchanan stripped down in front of her stepchildren after making a statement about how if her husband could take off his shirt, then a woman should be able to as well.
He further alleges that Buchanan, while “under the influence of alcohol,” had told her husband that she would only put her shirt back on if he showed her his penis.
Reminds me of an incident growing up. Me and my brothers were early teens. There was some dance show on and my stepmom was one of those NRA ladies..fought hard for it. Anyway, she was pissed that the lady dancers showed so much skin while the men were dressed. From another article

They certainly are :rimshot:Her attorney is named Randy Richards.
That seems inappropriate, sure, but still doesn't strike me as "sex offender" behavior. He further alleges that Buchanan, while “under the influence of alcohol,” had told her husband that she would only put her shirt back on if he showed her his penis.
I think I'd be most worried about the fact that they were there to investigate a completely different issue.I don't know how the US got so prudish, but it's dumb. She should be allowed to be topless wherever men are allowed to be topless. 100% agree. I would not support anything that prevents states or municipalities from defining whether people can or can't be topless. I'm just saying its wrong if the rules are different for men than women. At home cleaning your garage, no shirt is fine.
So, biological mom, if it's just the breasts that you're worried about...get over it. But that might not be the only issue. Shadyridr posted this from another article:

Great name to be posting in this thread."Stepkids" is different than "kids".
But iirc, the prevailing attitude in here is that it's bad to be naked in front of your kids, so I assume most will be against it.
I don't feel that way, but this lady sounds like a mess based on the clips posted- mixing drunkenness and this kind of behavior in front of step kids... So I'll lean toward putting her head on a moralistic pike.
Bolded the key (to me). Your own kids is one thing. However, having a step daughter, I feel like if I was do so the equivalent with her (exposing my self) it would indeed tread the line of being a sex offender. Our society:
9 and 13 year old allowed to watch horror movies that feature rape, torture, and maiming: Totally up to the parents.
9 and 13 year old see Mom's boobies because she feels it's no different than a man's chest: She's a sex offender.
Not too far off with this. I always baffles me the extent that parents will go to make sure their kids don't see something we all have and is natural vs. the crap that they let them watch in movies or in video game.sOur society:

What if you adopt them?Great name to be posting in this thread.

JMO and I certainly respect others that see it differently.
Our Protestant ancestors have adequately trained us to feel that sexuality is shameful. Violence? Totally entertaining! Not too far off with this. When you say "equivalent" you mean going shirtless in front of your stepdaughter, right? I don't think that treads the line of being a sex offender, but we can agree to disagree.Great name to be posting in this thread.

Doesn't matter, but since you asked...In the eyes of the law it might not matter, but I wonder if the kids were boys, girls or a combination?
Come on Eileen?Reminds me of an incident growing up. Me and my brothers were early teens. There was some dance show on and my stepmom was one of those NRA ladies..fought hard for it. Anyway, she was pissed that the lady dancers showed so much skin while the men were dressed.
She then made a comment about how they should show a man naked, then she blurted out "better yet, with an erection!"
My dad -screams out "EILEEN!!!!!!" It was so darn funny...
No, I don't mean taking my shirt off. I get that there is a movement to make those two things equal, but they aren't to me.When you say "equivalent" you mean going shirtless in front of your stepdaughter, right? Legally your kids then. Step kids aren't legally your kids if they aren't adopted, and there appears to be a legal birth mother with concerns here. What if you adopt them?
Also depends at what age you adopt them or first take them in.Legally your kids then. Step kids aren't legally your kids if they aren't adopted, and there appears to be a legal birth mother with concerns here.
This does make a difference in terms of whether or not it's appropriate for this family. If the birth mother has a problem with it then I would agree that the courts should step in to prevent it in the future. However, I don't agree that it's a criminal act on the surface.Legally your kids then.
