Value of Miles Austin Going Forward (1 Viewer)

Do you think Austin has just had a quiet few weeks or is he now the Cowboys' #2 and mostly a possession receiver? Good buy lowish situation or is has his value permanently declined in Dallas?

how is this different than any other time this season?

this is who he is, romo forgets aout him for a couple quarters and then realizes he has this tool.

2 games this year he has gotten all of his fantasy points on a 2 min drive before half and nothing else the whole game.

Dez is overrated. I like Austin to have a nice stretch of games for the next month and a half. A couple long ball Tds in there too.

Miles is who he is. A very good route runner with elite open field ability. He goes as Romo and the play calling goes. IMO he is being underutilized for his skill set. Not sure why they don't make it a point to get him the ball in space. Bubble screens, slants...

He's dangerous with the ball in his hands. Similar to a RB. He's strong and hard to bring down.

ETA: Unfortunately Witten eats up all of the underneath stuff which is where Austin should shine. He's the missing part of this offense and a big reason why they sputter when he's forgotten. If the Cowboys are going to have any chance come playoff time (to even get in) they have to get him involved more. I wouldn't count on Romo figuring it out though.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I recall him seeing a lot on bubble screens the year he blew up. I've always thought he had RB moves - the guy can stop and change direction better than any large(ish) receiver I've ever seen. Steve Smith and Harvin are obviously good, but Miles is several inches taller than them at 6-2.I was worried about the hamstring issues that have held him back last year, but I figured he'd be money if he was healthy. Right now he is outperforming his ADP by a little bit. His Sept 2nd non-PPR ADP was 24 and he's currently 19, so I guess we should be content. FWIW, Des had an ADP of 14 and he's currently 17.

It should be noted that Miles did get 12 targets last week. I didn't watch the game, but I will never complain about 12 targets. For the year he has 84 targets to Bryant's 86. Here's the breakdown:

Code:
Austin 4 10 9 6 5 9 16 9 4 12Bryant 5 7 8 13 15 3 11 4 5 15
Hard to discern a pattern there. Games 4 and 5 were disturbing, but the trend stopped there. Of course it should be noted that Witten has 96 targets (but only 1 TD). For those that are interested, here's how he fits in there:
Code:
Austin 4 10 9 6 5 9 16 9 4 12Bryant 5 7 8 13 15 3 11 4 5 15Witten 3 10 6 14 7 8 22 8 10 8

Great analysis. I'm fortunate enough to have Austin as my flex behind White and Nelson. But I've had Cecil Shorts blowing up on my bench the last 3 weeks while Austin gas been mediocre. I'm starting to think I should make the switch, but I can't get past Austin's consistency. He's pretty much guaranteed 4-7 receptions a week with a few anomalies in there.
