Variable Auction Entry-Fee (1 Viewer)

Was toying around with an interesting idea to further increase the strategy involved in auction style drafts.

1) Everyone's entry fee is the auction cap. (ie - $200 league, $200 cap) This is pre-paid to ensure that everyone is in and paid before the draft.

2) Players assemble teams as normal ... BUT ... with the stipulation that they get refunded any cap money they don't spend. So ... if you assemble a team on the cheap, say $120, then your entry fee is $120 and you are refunded $80.

This adds a further dimension to the skill level in my mind. People will be trying to save money rather than blow all of their "play" bid money. As a result, player values will be better determined.

Anyone ever try something like this?

Nope.

I'm not a big fan of in effect including an owners personal financial situation in management of his/her team...

i really don't see how this has anything to do with it. :) you pre-pay your full entry fee. most people will use the majority of it to build their team. if it's your strategy not to, then that's your strategy.
