Vegas (3 Viewers)

Very pleased with Border Grill at Mandalay Bay. Killer paloma, and they had a langoustine appetizer that was to die for. Great lunch spot. Outside patio overlooks the massive pool.

Love Joe's.  Get the skillet corn and key lime pie.  Best key lime I've ever had.  Seriously.
Did you have any crab claws? If so, what size and what was the MP? TIA
I'm trying to decide between Craftsteak, Delmonico and Joe's for an anniversary dinner.

I've been to Joe's a couple times, only had the crab claws once.  I recall that they were pretty good, but all crab is pretty good.  I don't remember them being significantly better than other crab elsewhere.  It's probably just me, I prefer the steak/sides/desserts for a killer meal.

Oh, and if you're trying to decide between these 3, you'll likely spend a good bit less at Joe's than the other 2, for an equally good meal IMO.  If that's a consideration...

That's what I noticed on Yelp. $$$ for Joe's compared to $$$$ for other spots. But I figure a filet and ribeye will be in the $55 range no matter where I go.

We went to both on our trip.  Loved the crab at Joe's.  Craftsteak was better, but Joe's was much cheaper so...can't go wrong with either.

I liked Zumanity more than O.

O had me dozing off.
My wife and I saw Zumanity last year. We had front-row seats near the front/side of the stage. We really enjoyed the show - particularly the part where I got pulled up on stage. Of all of the audience participation stunts, I have to say mine was the least embarrassing although I did end up with my shirt taken off while I was up there.

Lotus of Siam got a very big MEH from me and the wife. I don't understand what all the fuss is about.
Wow--thats certainly surprising. I'm not a big Thai food guy but even I find the food there to be pretty solid.   I do know that it's their "Northern Thai" menu dishes that most Thai food afficionados consider to be what makes their food top tier--but everything is subjective.   Hopefully you and the wife won a bunch of money at the casinos to make up for the MEH meal!!

Anyone been to Milos at the Cosmopolitan
Yes. Really enjoyed it for lunch with a Greek friend who thought it was as close to home as he'd been. We all did three courses prix fixe with upgrades for a few bucks here. Charcoal grilled octopus, very nice. I was in a hurry and hungover, and will go for dinner next time I'm in town and make time to better experience this place. It is top of my list for Vegas right now because the food really interests me. Also for those who want to try Asian, Joyful House (or something like that) in Vegas's little China Town has a bunch of fans in my family who live there. I thought it was fine but probably didn't order weird enough.

Thanks to whoever recommended the chicken and waffles at yardbird.  Delicious
Well, I'll take some credit because it's my go to spot, but I originally got the recommendation from someone else in this thread.

Really glad you enjoyed it!

Thank God that chicken was good....betting line at Venitian snaked past the little Chinese place.  Hay Carumba!

Had to laugh when I checked the whiskey list and saw Pappy Van Winkle being sold at "market price"

(side note, the craft brews they have at Yardbird were tasty  )

BTW, that Chinese place has what might be the best pork fried rice on the planet.

So...how much was the Pappy?

Anyone have any good Whiskey Bar recommendations?

Seeing a place called Whiskey Attic that does tastings, but some of the reviews say they have a good inventory, but in terms of what you get to taste it's run of the mill stuff.

Oops. Editing post. Thought this was the bourbon thread.

The best whiskey list I have seen in Vegas is at Delmonico's in the Venetian. They have a GREAT selection. Great food too.

ETA: here's a link where you can download the list. http://emerilsrestaurants.com/article/delmonico-steakhouse-book-whisky

might have 12 hours to myself before a crew arrives for a bachelor party.  Any recommendations?  Poker tourny is a definite possibility

Venetian has a great nightly poker tournament. The Flamingo has cheaper ones that start earlier.

Whiskey Down at MGM. Haven't been there for myself, but it has been well received by usually trustworthy sources.

First...they arrive at 7 am PST???

Second...El Cortez for BJ that actually pays and Cincy Vs. UCLA.  UCLA wins but not till the very end.

I spend a lot of time in vegas (about once a month for work) and this probably isnt what your looking for, but when I have downtime I hit the spa at whatever hotel I am staying at.  You can pay $25-50 bucks and go in there and use the steam room, saunas, hot tubs, cool tubs, etc.  Usually have a tv room where you can sit in a rob, eat complimentary fruit, nuts etc and watch sports while reading the paper.  Ill spend a few hours in there and come out feeling great.  Then go hit up some blackjack or just a walk down the strip to people watch...or sit at a pool and people watch.

The above is just great relax/alone time before the madness begins.

I was thinking this as well

would do poker tournament for sure.,. Otherwise you will lose a lot of money unless very disciplined.  Need something to kill the time

I was super annoyed with obnoxious sportsbook/blackjack/craps people last week.  Maybe I'm becoming an old grump as I approach 40 or maybe it was because I was flying solo in Vegas.  I'm all for some excitement in those three realms, but every ####### play in basketball doesn't need clapping and yelling (somehow one of these idiots was always around me).  I must have just picked the worst blackjack table on my final night...seemed like half the people that rolled through wanted to cheer every hand.  And quit telling me good luck on my Ace when it only pays 6/5, leave that for the dealer that has her boobs in my face.  Really I'd rather have a low card to double on a dealer bust draw anyways.

That said, the Flamingo wasn't that bad of a place to stay. I actually liked the casino level. Their book almost always had a place to sit (comfy chairs too) and it's not even that big (Friday was a mess though with NCAA and St. Pats, I should have left Fri morning not Fri night). Quick access to the Linq/Harrah's for a different vibe, but also basically mid strip for the upper scale casinos if you wanted to head across the street. The street/area between Flamingo and Linq has a bunch of places to eat and drink and people watch. The rooms at the Flamingo are probably the worst part and I even had a GO room, but for the amount of time you spend in the room, and the price, it's not that bad.
