Stayed there in mid-February and was VERY pleased with the second room I got. They might offer you a choice between the renovated tower (can't remember if it was the North or the South one), with no view of the Bellagio fountains, or the unrenovated tower with a view of the fountains. Do NOT take the unrenovated one. The renovated rooms were quite nice and rather large. Location of the hotel is outstanding. Overall I'd highly recommend it, and it always seems to be a great value.

They had a $5 craps table running at 8pm on a Saturday when I was down there for March Madness....so they've got that going for them.

Once you've experienced that huge pain in the ### called "the Strip", check out downtown where you can actually walk to different places in a matter of seconds. Less expensive. You don't have all the themes, but I've seen them all and they do nothing for me.
Golden Nugget is a nice enough place for me. And I walk around to different casinos and restaurants without the hassle.

Desert Rose Resort is GREAT. It's located right behind Hooters, and a short walk from MGM. It does not have a bar or casino, but all of the rooms are full sized one or two bedroom apartments. Really spacious and comfortable and room rates are very reasonable. I'm planning to stay there every single time I do Vegas from now on.

Emeril's Fish House is still the best table in town IMO. Mesa Grill was also very good.
The Piano Bar at NYNY is fun and rowdy.

SW at the Wynn has the best combination of food and atmosphere I've seen in Vegas. Request and outdoor table. Other good places are Prime at the Bellagio, Delmonico at the Venetian, Stripsteam at Mandalay.

If not mentioned, the Red Rock resort on the NW edge of the city is a great place. My wife and I stayed there recently. If you've got a car, it's easy to hop on route 215 and drive 20-25 minutes into the city (where you can pick your spot and park for free). Lotta nice young gals serving drinks and running blackjack tables out at the large pool complex. It's obviously not right in the heart of the action, but in some respects, that's appealing. The prices are excellent and the rooms are incredibly nice.

I cvan't stand the gambling there, but the shops and clubs and restaraunts are top notch. The Bellagio poker room is nearby but I have another recommendation: TONS of fish right across the street at the Flamingo. 5 minute walk and much looser/easier game.

A few other details...
- woke up at 6am Dallas time Tue morning
- flew to Vegas after work
- arrived at Hooters around 9pm
- drank & gambled as we worked our way north on the strip
- met this chick
- was my usual handsome, charming self
Note: this mainly consisted of me avoiding staring at her rack while she talked almost nonstop
- went to breakfast with her and her friends... she paid
- she invited me to her place (about a 20 minute drive from strip)
- make our way upstairs, where "things happened"
- I attempt to keep track of my wallet at all times
- went to sleep at 7am Vegas time Wed morning
- woke up about two hours later
- wearing boxers, drank coffee in living room while she talked on the phone with her boyfriend
- back upstairs to receive the single best "act of great admiration" I've ever experienced
- she drove me to Hooters where I was paying for a bed I apparently didn't need
- I enjoy Vegas

2 reasons1. I've heard there is limited gaming in the casino2. My grandparents and parents are going out there and I could only get a single comped room, the rate per night for a second and third room was high compared to the Venetian. I'm sure I'll walk through it on my way to the Wynn so I'll give you a report.

I booked the luxor for one night (june 12) before I move to the venetian June 13-15, I only needed a bed for a few hours as I'll be gambling most of the night I'm sure. That said 60 bucks, $10 free to play with
and $20 for free food :money: made it well worth it for the night.

Same owner, you walk through the Palazzo mall to get to the Venetian, not sure if it matters if you're there or the Venetian.

Bringing this thread back to life as I am headed to Vegas the end of September. Post your experiences, recommendations, etc.
This is a guy trip, 4 of us. We will be staying at the Nugget downtown. Like some other posters we like the downtown atmosphere as it is easier to get around and much easier to find a $5 and $10 tables when you want to.
We will undoubtably head to the strip for some action too. Sunday we will head to the Monte Carlo for sure. They have a great little bar/restaurant, called the Brew Pub, great place to watch the games with multiple big screen tv's...beer served by the yard in a container with a tap that is sat on your table. We also like the tables there. If you like Mexican food and HOT waitresses try Diablo's Cantina, right on the strip. Sit outside and enjoy the view of the strip too.
I'll be back with more later...rock on!

That's sucks...we almost moved it back a week. Don't know about Chicago...pretty finished up that project, but they may find something else for me to do sometime...I'll let you know.

The Flamingo is a great location on the strip...right in the center of everything. Just don't try to see and do everything the first time. There is a little place called O'Sheas, right next to the Flamingo. If it's not to hot, it can be a fun place to gamble as you are practically outside on a couple of their blackjack and craps tables.

Trip planned for the beginning of September with wife and son (4). Now before I get the "holier than thou" crowd, we are meeting my parents in Vegas and will be using them nightly as a babysitter.

about a hotel at the way south end.

South end is cool...it just makes getting to mid strip a little more time consuming. The hotels on that end have enough to offer to make up for it. Make sure to take your son to M&M World, next to the MGM. Also the Aquarium at Mandalay would be good for a 4 yr old too. For gambling I like Mandalay and Luxor both. The palazzo is a beautiful hotel and attached to the Venetian. I stayed at the Venetian last month and from what I here the rooms are pretty much the same :thumbsup: The Venetian has some awesome house bands that play nightly, so if you can't find anything in the palazzo then just walk over there.Any reviews of the Palazzo yet? With all the news of how Vegas is hurting for tourism we called to check on our room there in September and managed to get a larger suite at half the price of the original room.
