$218 round trip tickets on Continental and a free hotel room offer were calling my name so I will be going Sun, July 24th - Fri 29th. They are giving away rooms, even at the nicer places if that's what you prefer. I chose Bally's because I'm cheap (have a Rewards card and had an offer for $0 for the entire 5 weekdays) and don't mind something a little dumpy compared to the nicer places, but I could have stayed at Planet Hollywood or Paris for pretty cheap. Last time I was in Bally's I was upgraded for free to a pretty nice North Tower room, but I remember the South tower rooms being pretty run down a few years ago.May have to use the Patty connection in this thread for seats, my friends and I are trying to figure out what show we want to do.Anyone recommend any particular pool cabana's worth the value in the area (Paris/PH/Bally's/Bellagio/Caesar's)? Didn't like the cabana's at Flamingo and the one I did at the Venetian last year was really nice but not that close to the water or the eye candy. Since I'll be there on weekdays, I'm expecting it to not be too outrageous price-wise.
Here are the shows Patty can get tickets to:Bellagio OMGM KA and David CopperfieldAria ElvisNYNY ZumanityMirage Love and Terry Fator
Sweet, thanks for the info!
Patty rules. She got us seats to Copperfield...... it was a full on pass. I mean it wasn't awful, but it felt like a waste of precious vegas time.

Think my friends have decided on Penn & Teller & La Reve so I will report back on those. Wanted to do O, but we are going early in the week and there are no showings of "O" on a Mon or Tues.

Going again in November for an annual trip, I will probably try Patty out then as my girlfriend is coming on that trip. Some other friends this weekend told me Zumanity is crazy good too.

Was there a week ago and finally saw the city center area. Aria is a great looking hotel - best thing there. Cosmopolitan was disappointing and that's too bad because I'm Marriott Gold with tons of points. It just been done before and I can see it being an s-hole low end place in 10 years. Low ceilings, claustrophobic, some tacky decorating.. not good

Mandalay Bay was FULL of kids. That hotel went from being our getaway place to a "only if we have our kids with us" hotel. A lot of the single people there were pretty pissed about it. Don't go there if you want a no-kid vacation. Next time we go without kids we'll probably do the Aria.

I always stay at the Rio (WSOP) and I got Penn and Teller comped and still wanted my money back.

Going in October for a week at the American Dental Association Conference... staying at THEhotel at Mandalay.

Haven't been in a couple years now... what's the latest?

Wow i just read mandalay bay spreads Crazy Pineapple - that sounds AWESOME.. we always loved playing that in home games

Did you see my post. Tons of kids running around Mandalay. THEHotel is probably better, but that's just where you are sleeping.Mandalay poker room is still good. Drink service was prompt. Pretty solid players though. If you are at all into relaxing in Vegas, get a day pass at Bathhouse. It's a masculinely decorated spa with whirlpool, steamroom, sauna, etc.

TOURISTY QUESTION ----

Wife and I heading out soon, will be there 6 days (way too long :) ) Anyway looking to break up the normal vegas stuff.

Anyone been to the red rock canyon We're renting a car and taking a half day to check it out.

What can you guys tell me about the Artisian Boutique Hotel?

Going there for after hours on a Sat. nite in August.

It's not bad - but at this time of the year - I'd be very careful exerting myself in the heat - take lots of water if you are going to hike any of it and go very early in the AM.Good Luck 6 days in that city is insane.

You could drive to Zion in about 2 hours as well - so an early start will help like 6AM - and get to the park around 9 - do a hike into the Narrows.

Look into renting a boat on Lake Mead

Any hotels deals going up for December yet?Going the first weekend with a group for the Marathon.
Hey, me too! Cornhole? That said, the RNR website has some crazy good deals on it. I booked the Venetian for $129 a night. We're flying out there Thursday and flying back Monday, so I needed a place that would keep the wife happy (read: not a dump) and pretty centrally located.

Yeah I know this is our third / fourth time, we are pretty mello now. We clubbed every night our first trip. We're older now and may hit a club 1 night but is not a have to do. Last time we took a half day for Hoover dam.We plan on getting there around 9 and most likely will just do the scenic drive. Not sure how much hiking we'll do.

We plan on probably 5 or 6 hours tops..

I don't say we get bored but gambling most of the day and night everyday does "tire". We try to break it up some and find less I NEED TO GET DRUNK LIKE SPRING BREAK and more laid back escapades, and get drunk :)

I've been to Red Rock and thought it was worth the trip. You can make a day out of it easily, or just a few hours depending on how much hiking you want to do. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from the strip. You can just take the scenic drive route get out for a few pictures etc, maybe a short hike and be done, or take a couple of longer hikes. Also the Red Rock resort is on the way there and they have a nice casino, pool, movie theatre, bowling alley if you want to include that on the way there or probably better on the way home.

I was disappointed with the Penn and Teller show as well.I think the Mack King Comedy show in the afternoon is a much better value and better overall show.

Walking around Fremont street at night while taking pics of the impersonators, donking it up at the penny slots, etc.....that's a good time to me.

Heading out tomorrow :woot:

Thinking of doing the Stratosphere free fall... Sure I'll talk myself out of it

Currentlydrunk at the aria pool, wife in conference meetings. Only down 100 so far was downh a lot, decided to play a aecond hand if 3card, I hit straight and trips, won back most of it.

Was comped for haze nightclub, saturday, been to many clubs, never seen so many people... Couldnt move downstairs, found spot upstairs to save the night. Hate the whole club attitude of 30 covet and 15 dollar drinks, but ill go anytime for free!

Red rock scenic drive was pretty cool, did some hiking, good stuff.

Big gambling night planned tonight after open bar party, :excited:

Good trip so far, tame compared to mnay im sure but fun none the less. Averaging 5 hour sleep so must be doing somwthi ng right.

anyone know of any flight+hotel(+show?) packages for 2-3 nights from the NY/NJ area to Vegas around the Columbus day weekend?

i'm not finding much out there on the usual sites (slickdeals, vegas.com, etc.)

thanks in advance

Nobody's been here?
Yeah that did happen :bag:
:lmao: Bought rum at the liqour store and filled up water bottles. Got drunk for real cheap. Killed a nice few hours each day. Aria pool is very bleh but relaxing. Honestly don't remember when I posted that  Actually didn't gamble a ton this trip but did gamble... Not a club guy but Haze had to have 500 people on the 30X30 dance floor. My wife who likes dancing and such even admittted - that doesn't look fun at all. God Bless comps, I would have been pissed to pay $40 to get in. Hate the whole scene, have to squeeze everywhere because you didn't buy a table plus $20 drinks. They were strong though. Obviously she gets in free. My somewhat funny moment. I'm at the upstairs bar getting drinks for me, wife and her co-workers. Not a ton of people upstairs but still crowded, but manageable. A girl comes up to me "so what are we drinking tonight"

me: " Vodka and Redbull".

her: " mmm, that's sounds really good, I think I'll have one."

bartender asks what I want.

me: " 3 red bulls and vodka and a rum and coke"

her: "Is one of them for me?"

me: " no sorry"

her: " walks away in a huff"

I know she just wanted a drink but being out of the game it still felt good to be "used" :P

Actually won $$ playing penny slots waiting for my wife lunch meeting to end. Was a let me kill 30 minutes :lmao:

Even though we don't party as hard anymore, I was drunk every night and we barely slept

Feeling it today can't wait for next year.

What do you play mostly? What stakes do you play?

GENERALLY SPEAKING:

Harrahs is more kind to lower stakes players and is more liberal with comps for table games players.

MGM properties loyalty programs are generally geared more toward higher stakes table games players and slots folks.

True, I was caught off guard by a female other than my wife talking to me ;)

I belong to the top group. I can pretty much get rooms at the Mirage now any time for $33 on weekdays and $66 on weekends. I don't play all that much there - just make sure I use my card for everything, even killing time playing slots with my wife. I usually play 10-20 hold-em or blackjack. For the relatively small amounts I play there, the comps seem pretty good.

I know it's tame to a lot of people but we enjoyed ourselves. :shrug:I agree with the posters about the 2 different groups of hotels. I have cards for both. The one thing I didn't like about Aria was trying to kill some time at 9am I could barely find a $10 table. The Aria lady told be if I'm not playing BJ for 25 a hand they don't rate you. :shrug:The Harrahs group you can find cheaper tables easier.I used have no problems at the higher level tables and we will do that once or twice but having my wife and me play we try to stick with the lower tables since we like to play all different games to pass time and it can go quick if we are both cold so we try to limit ourselves each day :)The $10 BJ table is a great way to pass time without taking a complete beating. I rarely play slots but after this trip I'm sticking with the .01 slots. Won enough to cover all my expenses on it :lmao:

I like Harrahs. I'm a low roller and don't go often but they still give me free room offers (free during the weekdays) and discounted rooms on the weekends along with discounted buffets and stuff. They seem to be pretty generous (if that's right word to use....haha) with it all.

I'm a low roller myself, and sometimes hit a "middle roller" but this is how we usually do it. The properties are not as nice but we get some decent stuff. We would have never seen the Legends show at Harrahs if we didn't have a Buy 1 Get 1 comp. So for $65 we got 3rd row center. The show was ok but for the price it was ok.

I usually play mostly blackjack, but also pai gow, three card poker, and hold 'em. usually anywhere from the $15 tables and up. my wife plays mostly slots and roulette. we also don't mind dropping some coin on nice dinners and occasional shows.my problem is that I have pretty much every player's card out there, and when I'm in LV, I tend to just play wherever I am at the moment. I want to try and only play on one program, so that I can get better comps. I already get some okay deals (going in a couple weeks for Fri/Sat/Sun for a total of $50 at Rio), but I want more FREE stuff.
