Vegas (2 Viewers)

Congrats to mops for doing Vegas right with kids. Like CC I am against kids in Vegas and question the parents....but not when it's done like mops.

Headed out this weekend. Staying at the Venetian. Looking for restaurant recommendations, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Read through everything since December in this thead. Didn't see much other than Border Grill being mentioned. Unlikely to eat at Mix or Bouchon as we have in the past. Food was great, but there is so much Vegas has to offer prefer to get to new places.
I recommend Cut between the Venetian and the Palazzo. Wolfgang Puck's Steakhouse. Awesome steaks, Great music (classic rock), Knowledgeable wait staff (who all dress like managers). Also the Pretzel bread is awesome. Can get a bit pricey, but to me, it has been worth it.Also at the Palazzo is Sushi Samba which is a good fusion sushi place.

I have never eaten there, but Mon Ami Gabi at Paris always seems to get good reviews in this thread.
Mon ami Gabi is my go to recommendation. Ask to sit outside. The food is good and watching the Bellagio Fountain show and the other nightlife walk by is best in show.
Ah yes, Mon Ami Gabi is the one place we will definitely be going back to. I'm a big fan of the patio in the late morning.

Thanks for the Cut suggestion. Before I started reading reviews I was thinking Carnevino over Cut and Delmonico Steakhouse (of those located in/around Venetian), but after researching I am leaning towards Cut. I guess I should also mention we have eaten at Gordon Ramsey's Steak as well. Expensive, but was great and could end up back there, but there are too many other places to try.
I've eaten at Cut and Delmonico and I prefer Delmonico. Their scotch/bourbon list is out of this world, and their bone-in ribeye is fantastic. My buddy had the salmon a few weeks back when we were there and he loved it.

It's pretty generic, but my wife and I always do breakfast at the Grand Lux Cafe. It's right by the elevators and they have an egg station with a dude cooking eggs. Their off-the-menu stuff is good too. It's convenient and they do a good job.

I've had incredible dinners at Raku in Chinatown on my last two trips to Vegas. It's a Japanese izakaya where you can order a la carte or take the omakase selection. Check the Yelp reviews - it's well worth it.

These places sound fantastic.

Any outdoor seating at a good restaurant that won't be hot as hell for an 8pm reservation in July?

Thanks. I have a feeling we won't get there on this trip, but adding this to my notebook for a future trip.

Ya, they've been great for a while. There are a lot of great restaurants in Chinatown now... mostly Asian, but not necessarily Chinese (e.g., Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.). Only about a $10-20 cab ride too depending on where you are coming from the Strip.

Got back from this weekend.

Really loved Hash House a Go Go. Ate at the one downtown in The Plaza as I was meeting up with people from the Golden Nugget. Huge portions of amazing food. The Benedict dishes are amazing.

Also went out of my way to go to Burger Bar by Mandalay Bay. Decent burger with tons of toppings, multiple gourmet sauces for your fries if you are into that and amazing milkshakes, with and without alcohol. Pretty pricey for what it is, but glad I made the stop.

Stayed at the SLS Las Vegas WAY north of the strip. Location sucks if you are wanting to walk anywhere else, but I was happy with the hotel-to-price ratio. Reminded me of NYLO or The Loft hotels. Insane, modern decorating to cover up not much structural meat on the bones. Decent food places it looks like, small sports book. It's not going to make you forget any of the big boys on the south side, but not horrible.

Flying in tomorrow for a quick two night visit. Staying in a Cosmpolitan room with tickets to concerts both nights. Going to hit a few of the Cosmo restaurants (probably Scarpetta and STK) for Thursday happy hour appetizers since I've never eaten anywhere besides secret pizza.

Is Secret Pizza worth they hype? What about Rose Rabbit Lie?

Also, are you getting the room with the soaking tub Strip view? That looks awesome.

Secret pizza is above average pizza.

Draws are 1) its' a secret 2) the clientele/scenery can be off the charts at night.

Like icon said, Secret Pizza is pretty good stuff. I love it for late night cheap food...and tons of eye candy if you are there when Marquee lets out. I went to RRL back when they had Vegas Nocturne. The drinks were awesome...didn't have much of the food.

I always tip the front desk and ask for a high floor with a view of the fountains...I don't really care about the tub.

Wife and I are just leaving the vdara lobby(watched cub game while drinking Beers from room). Heading out into the great unknown.

We will be staying one night this June on our way to the Grand Canyon / park city and I will follow what you did. :)

Steak house at Cosmo is outstanding. I'd go back.

Pshh.... My dad used to take me to Vegas all the time. He'd send me to the Luxor or Excalibur arcade with $50 in quarters and tell me to get lost for 12 hours. I know 100% he spent his time boozing, snorting, and hookering it up but I had a blast. Felt my first boob (under shirt!) in Vegas!

Atta boy!

I don't dig on bloody Mary's, do you? That Bloody Mary portable bar looks amazing.

I can't think of the name of it and it was 4 years ago, but there was a patio Mexican place out front of planet Hollywood that had portable fans with misters on them. We ate there at 2 in the afternoon and were cool..... Ok, not hot anyway.

None for me either. I was up early and they open at 7 so seating was not an issue. Just don't sit near the one garbage can on the sidewalk below unless you want to meet some very interesting folks.

:lmao: It's ####ing July in Vegas... What do you expect?

The topless pool at the Wynn is pretty solid. Poolside blackjack if you are inclined. They had poolside craps but I believe it is gone. Order the bull and berries and you are likely in for a very nice day.

Secret pizza was just OK. Kinda fun to find and see, but nowhere near as good as Pizza Rock downtown or difara"s at caesars.

Yardbird at the Venetian is fairly new and is pretty amazing.
Never heard of it. Tell us more.
Southern cuisine. Fried chicken, biscuits, mac and cheese, etc. The biscuits are ####### amazing. Decent beer and cocktail list. Buddy and I went back just for beer and biscuits twice in one weekend.
Same restaurant is in south beach. It's very good in Miami. Incredible bourbon list if that's your thing. Will be checking out the Vegas spot on next trip!

Generic Vegas question: going this weekend last min for my cousin's wedding. Saturday night he wants the Vegas strip club experience. Best suggestions for club/limo service there? Would prefer not to spend Chet bucks at the club.
Best trick to have fun without spending Chet bucks in the back... bring a stack of $2 bills. I brought 100 $2 bills to the Rhino and spread them around the group I was with. We were pretty much swarmed the whole night.

Took a peak at the menu. Very interesting. Will report back if we end up there and I think it's highly likely we will. Thanks for mentioning it. Might not have given this a close enough look otherwise.

Going Saturday for a week, I'll be the guy ####-hammered at the top of the Cosmopolitan on Sunday night.
Nice. Cosmo is awesome, love the balconies, all the restaurants are amazing and the women around the casino at night are the best in Vegas. Cocktails at the Chandelier bar is recommended, if you sit in the right spot, you can see a never ending procession of sexy women in short skirts coming down the stairs. A show like that pretty much pays for the drinks.

I've always wondered why someone would walk up to a $10 craps table and put $50 on the pass line and then put $50 odds when they could do $10 on the pass and $90 on the odds. And these amounts are just representative.

Why not minimize the pass line bet and maximize the odds bets?

Forgot to mention in my update earlier, but we did venture out to Spearmint Rhino on Saturday night. Calling for the limo is the absolute only way to do it. Big stretch limo picked us up at The Palazzo and drove us to the club to the back entrance. Tipped the driver and the bouncer who got us a table. No cover (would have been $88) for our party of four and no tab fare (guessing $30 from where we were).

The club itself was nothing special, almost run down in some areas and way too dark, but I spent a bit of time in VIP and had a good time overall. Just be careful ordering drinks back there.

The amount you can place behind your pass line bet differs by casino. You could only do what you are suggesting if the casino was offering at least 10x odds.

At a $10 table, I might put $10 behind the pass line on a point of 4 or 10 and $50 behind a point of 6 or 8.

How about telling us more about what else you ordered back there?

Of course the table has to allow it. My larger point is why do anything above the min on the pass line and as much as possible on the odds? For comp purposes maybe?

Oh, free advice... do not use your credit card at a strip club. They're notorious for charging you for things you did not receive.
