I'm heading to Vegas for my annual March Madness trip in March, but this year is special - my buddy and I are celebrating our 50th birthdays while we are there.

I'm looking for a suite that is good for 2 guys (we must have 2 beds minimum), and maybe 4 (a couple dudes could crash on the sofa). Money is kind of an issue, but not really. I'm willing to spend around $1K per night if needed, so none of these $5K per night places.

I'm looking at a suite at the Venetian but it's only about 400 sq. ft. bigger than their standard room, but I love that place.

Any suggestions?
Bump. I'm going to be booking something this week. Any thoughts?
I did a search on hotwire for 3/16-3/21 all prices pre resort fee and taxesTrump-114

Vdara- 149

Aria-193

Venetian/Palazzo/Encore/Wynn(will be one of these 4, I just booked this same listing description and it turned out to be venetian)-202
Yep, those are my dates, except we are staying the 17-22.We are probably going to book the 1100 sq. ft. suite at the Venetain for about $450 while we look for other things.

We really want to stay on the strip. We have stayed at the Rio a few times and didn't really dig being away from the strip. I have stayed at Aria and that was pretty cool, but their suites are all sold out.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Why not just get two rooms at venetian or aria and have two full bathrooms and 4 beds?

Well, that's kind of the plan. My best bud that I've known for 35 years and I are celebrating our 50th, so we are getting a nice room. If it was big enough for other dudes, they could share. If not, they will get their own. Right now we are doing the Venetian suite for the two of us and everyone else is on their own. But we want to keep looking for a jumbo suite too, just in case.

For those that dont have Kutta cash, have you stayed at the Tuscany Suites? Reviews seem to be all over the place, which typically isnt a good thing.

My wife and I stayed at Mirage 12/24-12/30 and we just booked at Monte Carlo for Super Bowl weekend. Got a free room for 3 nights and entry to their Big Game Party which includes free food/drinks.

Flying out Friday 2/5 and returning Tuesday 2/9, two tickets round trip from DFW for $544 including taxes/fees.

Alarming development. Wynn is only allowing 3-4-5 dice at $25 or more. Otherwise it's double odds.

Also sighted at Venetian at a few low limit tables.

Won't play at the Wynn then.

I am strictly a 10 dollar table craps player with 3-4-5 X's odds. That better not be a trend at all major hotel strip casino's or they will chase away way a huge amount of craps players. I gotta believe you will see this at only the high end hotels like the Wynn, Belagio etc.

I typically play at NY/NY and Planet Hollywood. My two favorite casinos on the strip. Caesar's is also a hopping casino as well.

I love NYNY. Hate the rooms and the freakin hallways getting to them, but we love all the rest of the amenities. My wife and I are cheap as heck so we love to buy chips and salsa at gonzalez y gonzalez, pizza from NY pizzeria upstairs, and then we bring our own beer and sit at the tables outside times square bar and enjoy the dueling pianos. Makes a very enjoyable, affordable evening.

We also love the croughnuts and coffee at american cafe for some reason I have very good luck there playing roulette. I pretty much win 100 bucks each time. Play for basically 10 minutes at the most. Even my wife this last trip played only one spin and hit. It was her dads bday on the 14th so she put 10 bucks on 12 and ten bucks on 14. Nice 340 bucks net on 12 hitting.

We lose everywhere else though.

Last two times I went to NY/NY I cleaned up at the craps tables. Great dealers there too who know what they are doing and know how to take care of you as a hot roller. Lot's of fun.

The last two times I was at NY-NY was for a work trip. I liked sitting and eating outside the dueling pianos bar. Good entertainment for being alone. It seems that everyone has a good time inside.

WTF is wrong with Vegas these days. It is almost like they don't want people to gamble.

:goodposting:

Between that and ####ty 6/5 blackjack I don't really like to put much money in play there anymore. If I get a gambling itch, Tunica is 45 mins away and has tons of full pay BJ and 100x odds. Scenery isnt the same, but if just looking to gamble, it suits.

For the record, a regular room at the Venetian (700 sq ft.) is only $250 or so a night during this time. So it's not outrageously priced. Our suite is a bit more than that, but not crazy.

Kutta cash sure comes in handy for all the ancillary activities though...

Wife and I had a blast at NY/NY.

Saw Zumanity from the 3rd row...but had some incredible fish & chips and hushpuppies right outside the venue.

Stayed for a drink or two before finding our next adventure.

Heading out there next weekend...

aka adult video awards weekend.

ETA: want to test the Tinder out there.

It's not about the gamble anymore, not on the Strip at least. I'm sure they still want the high rollers, but the humps like us that used to soak up $30 hotel rooms, $5 steaks, and $1 beers are now paying $150 for the room, $25 for the steak, and $5 for the beer. It's adult Disney World now, they don't give a crap about your hour long session of $10 blackjack that might net them $40. They already got you on the other markups, the gambling is just the cherry on the sundae now.

People other than locals drive in Vegas?

I'm getting the itch again to go to, and it's good to hear room rates may be dropping.

Is there a way to guarantee you will have a car? In Vegas last weekend Budget was out of cars. Luckily Dollar hooked me up, but that was a pretty bad feeling. If you priceline bid and pay in full up front, is that guaranteed?

Why would you need a car in Vegas? Cab rides are cheap...I've been to Vegas a bunch and never needed a rental car.

Hiking.

Lake Mead to the east. Red rock to the west. Spring Mountains to the northwest. Sheep mountains to the North. Black canyon to the south. Potosi to the southwest.

Literally less than an hour in every direction is a whole 'nother vegas.

Also Total Wine and Spirits has the best beer selection I have ever seen.

Also Del Taco.

Understood then. I think to do Vegas w. a car is not quintessential.

Hell im rarely sober enough in vegas to drive... A car would be a ####### liability
I spend more time in the mountains there now than I do in bars or casinos.

I love the sports book and I love the food, but I couldn't go as often as I do just for that stuff. Looking down on the strip from a snow capped peak is pretty freaking cool. I get it isn't for everybody, but I love it. Burn 6000 calories and then go put them all right back on!

.. those were the Days...

Probably around 1996 - not long after they opened, I played a $5 Table at Hard Rock from around 6PM till past 1Am.... On NEW YEARS EVE!!!!

Wall to wall ppl... Girls taking their tops off dancing on slot machines...

I was "Grandfathered" - Do they even do that anymore???... All night ppl were like "Why does he get to play $5"...

I upped my bets and lowered them but, was pretty much there all night and walked away up a little after drinking a boat load...

Used to get Free Suites at Caesars, Free Buffets... Sheesh and the Airfare was $99 from NY

When they 1st started those point systems/ Rewards, I don't think they had a clue, I used to play Video Black jack and rack up points 1000x what the old ladies would do on quarter machines with $10+ Black Jack bets, breaking even but, points, cash back, Rooms and Meals piling up!!!!!

It wasn't that hard back then to live like a King and pretty much spend very little to nothing.... Only the Strip Clubs would get your money and even that was cheap(er)

GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

I'm planning to go to the Beatles show LOVE when I get to Vegas and someone told me not to buy tickets now, to wait and buy them cheaper the day of the show. They're $79 online. Anyone have advice or experience buying cheaper Vegas show tickets? Never done it before.

If they are telling you to buy them the day of the show, they are probably talking about the red stands that sell tickets. I don't recall the name, but basically, they sell tickets at a discount for same day shows. Generally, I would say don't count on them if you really want to see a specific show, but Love has been out for quite awhile so I would assume you'd be safe with that show.

What's it like during mid-week in May/June? Tough to get a same-day ticket at one of those kiosks, or not a problem?

I'll be there Mar 6-10, any show you want me to keep an eye on?  We're looking to possibly check out Blue Man Group or Penn & Teller if the price is right.

Has anyone been to Yard House at the Linq?  There happy hour deals look pretty good.

Linq was a very pleasant surprise all around on our last trip.  We hit vegas up for a long weekend every football season.  Stay downtown, but hit up the westgate for the games on saturday/sunday.  when we get a little bored we hit up the strip for a change of pace. both times last year we went to the linq and had a blast.  Great location, but doesn't feel "over the top" like most strip places.

We actually stayed here one trip because we had a bunch of guys and it was prime season and we had some cheap ### dudes with us. The rooms aren't bad for the price, and I love the location.

I assume it's the same Yard House that we have in Atlanta. I love it for the huge draft beer selection. Food is a little pricey but hey it's Vegas.
